A Grand Opening!

Summary: It's the grand opening for Henry's Occult Store!
Warnings: None.

One the way towards the observatories, one of the buildings has suddenly become decked out in purple and black bunting. A cardboard sign says, inside a ring of eyes, says "Occult Store - GRAND OPENING". Insides a few shelves are lined with small bottles filled with liquids in various colors of black, red, and purple; a few small, unlabeled pouches; and some non-descipt dolls. A small table is set up in the middle of the room, where Henry sits behind a small pile of cupcakes. When you enter he will cheerfully say "Hi! Have a cupcake! I've cursed them with friendship, nyahaha!"

"Yep! Hardswtich's School for the Mischievous and Unwanted. Best wizard school in all of Plegia!"

Henry sighs wistfully.

"Lots of good memories there."

"Unwanted? Was it really called that?"

Because that sounds just awful to her. Telling people they're unwanted...

[holycrows]

"Well yeah! Did great business amongst Plegia's elite. Send off your useless children to go make something of themselves. If they survived to graduation."

[her_rose_is_red]

"That's terrible!"

Wait, maybe she should clarify.

"I mean, not sending your kids to magic school, that's okay. But you shouldn't call them useless! That's so mean!"

[holycrows]

"It's better than sacrificing them! Or throwing down a well, though then all the well monsters get to eat.

Either way it meant I had lots of friends! It's amazing how many extra children rich people have."

[her_rose_is_red]

"Thats- That's still mean..."

He seems okay with it though. Like it's no big deal. So now she feels a little silly.

"Parents shouldn't want to get rid of their kids at all."

[holycrows]

"Oh yeah, my parents were huge jerks. Most of ours were. If I ever have kids I'd be a way better parent."

[her_rose_is_red]

"It must be tough to have mean parents. Mine are really nice...."

Now she feels really bad for him.

[holycrows]

"That's great! It probably sucks being away from them."

[her_rose_is_red]

"Yeah.... I really miss them. Garry too. I wonder if they're worried about me..."

[holycrows]

"I'm sure they are! With all the magic around here I'm sure if you work hard enough you can find a way to tell them you're ok.

I know if my other parents ever thought I was missing when I was young they would have gone crazy with worry."

[her_rose_is_red]

"Do you really think we could? Talk to people from back home, I mean?"

It's not something that has occurred to her before, but if it's possible they could all let the people they left behind know they were alright. But wait...

"Other parents...?"

Talking to Henry always makes her feel a little off balance.

[holycrows]

"Oh yeah, I was raised by wolves for a short time. But it should be possible if we think about it enough. No one really seems to die here, that seems way harder than inter dimensional communication."

[her_rose_is_red]

"Wol-?"

She stops herself, shaking her head. Never mind that. Questions like that always seem to lead to further questions when it comes to Henry. Maybe she should just leave it be. Anyway, there are more important things to worry about.

"You're right! Bringing people back should be much harder. And the crystals brought us all here, right? So maybe we can use them to call home!"

[holycrows]

"If we do get them working I bet the call would be crystal clear nyahaha."

[her_rose_is_red]

This time she just shakes her head at the awful pun. She's getting used to them.

"But how can we find out? We don't know a whole lot about the crystals."

[holycrows]

"Someone here has to know something about them. Like a reclusive wizard who lives in a cave or a professor with a secret crystal lab."

[her_rose_is_red]

"Or maybe someone in the big Magitek building?"

She isn't sure how much those people can be trusted, but they sure do know a lot.

[holycrows]

"Oh yeah. Doesn't that tiny person who doesn't seem to like us too much work there too? She seems like someone who knows what's up."

[her_rose_is_red]

"You mean Jessie? Maybe if we ask her she can help us figure it out."

[holycrows]

"Yeah! Her! If anyone seems like they might know it would be her."

[her_rose_is_red]

"I'll try writing her a letter! The worst she can say is no, right?"

[holycrows]

"Nyahaha! Of course not! The worst she could say is that she could lie about being able to get in touch with your parents and not let you know that she actually can't!"

"B-but she wouldn't do that!!"

"I don't think so! She might be grumpy all the time but she seems like a good person."
