Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.
At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:
"Wake up."
Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up, Kupo!" Hand clutched on your Crystal, the call of the Moogle may finally wake you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to dock beneath the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.
Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.
Thankfully, there doesn't seem to be any citizens aside from Moogles in the vicinity. Indeed, the population of Aqures Ixen seems to be busy elsewhere in the city-- The Moogle will tell you there currently an event named the Festival of Light, which most people are attending. But you are not alone! It probably will not be long before you realize there are plenty of people like you all around, and if somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. Maybe with their help, you will be able to find out what is happening to you.

— Final Day —
The Festival of Light is a yearly event held at Aqures Ixen to celebrate the victory of the "Heroes of Light" over the "Calamity from the Skies" two thousands years ago, or so do the legends say. Whether people believe in the legends or not, this is an occasion for them to have fun and spend time with family and friends. The Festival is held from the 28th of July to the 3rd of August.
Unfortunately, most attractions and events are over by the third of August. Yet, there is enough to do, should the newly arrived Heroes of Light favor spending time looking at the attractions rather than panicking about their situation. The festival ends at midnight.
Theater Play
— Ninth District || 14:00 —

There is a large theater stage installed in the 9th district-- It is probably only temporary by the look of it. There is quite a crowd seated to watch the play about to unfold, as well as numerous people standing beneath the seats or sitting on the ceilings because they couldn't get a seat. After the audience grows quiet, a woman with long silver hair and green-ish skin steps onto the stage to address the audience.
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Tonight's performance is a story that takes place long, long ago! At the time when the Ancients reigned over the planet, when the Calamities from the Skies landed on this world and waged war against all forms of life. When our story begins, the Ancients are on the brink of extinction and gathering the last of their forces to fight. And now people of Aqures Ixen and visitors from distant lands, we proudly present 'The 4 Heroes of Light'!"
After this, the play starts and will last for roughly one hour and a half. The main characters appear to be four Heroes of Light, respectively dressed as a Warrior, Monk, Black Mage and White Mage. Other characters include the Calamity from the Skies played by the silver-haired woman, an Ancient scientist and the Princess of Crystallis. The story appears to be a highly romanticized version of the tale the Moogles told the characters earlier. As the play unfolds, there is a love story between one of the Heroes of Light, the Warrior, and the Princess of Crystallis. At the end of the play, the Heroes of Light successfully defeat the Calamity from the Skies, but the Warrior has to sacrifice himself and die in order to protect the Princess of Crystallis.
Culinary Attractions
— Fourteenth District || Anytime —
What would a festival be without free food and banquets? Not really a festival. In the fourteenth district, there is a banquet and many stands held by people from all over the world-- People from Balicea, Aerilon, Esdham, Flence, etc. There is even a stand held by former inhabitants of the Empire. All kind of food from all over the world can be found here-- Refined food, pastries, cakes, cooked meals, etc. It's virtually impossible not to find something to like in all of this, and it's all free until midnight!
Competitions
— Tenth & Eight District || 18:00 —

At 18:00, there will be a Blitzball match opposing the teams of Aqures Ixen and Balicea in the Blitzball Stadium. It is more of an exposition match, with nothing to be won aside from glory. Anyone is free to enter the stadium to watch the match. Following this, people - playable characters included - will be allowed to play some Blitzball Match on their own, if they want to try.
At the same time, a Triple Triad competition will be taking place in the eight district, in the campus of the university. Characters are free to enter the Triple Triad tournament, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. With low level cards and whatsoever no experience, odds are that they may lose to much more experienced and competitive players, but what matters is trying, right? Whilst no characters may recognize him yet, it is notable that one of the NPCs, Wedge, is taking part in the competition. It's just a shame knowing he will lose in the semi-finals.
Trano Golsaucia's Stands
— Eleventh District || Anytime —
Specially for the occasions, stallholders from Trano Golsaucia traveled to Aqures Ixen and brought a few attractions to display what they can do. Noticeably, they brought Chocobos and will organize numerous races throughout the day, on an improvised tracks running around the houses. The Heroes of Light are more than welcome to try and bet, should they want to lose (or multiply) what few Gils they have. If they feel adventurous, they may even try to enter one of the races and ride a Chocobo-- At their own risks.
Aside from this, there are some more attractions worthy of attention. There is a shooting stand-- Coincidentally, all the targets are vaguely similar to the main antagonists of numbered Final Fantasy games. There is a treasure chest game, where characters are presented with ten chests and can open only one-- Prizes range from one Gils to gigantic plushie. There is also a fortune teller Moogle, it is notable that his predictions will always include either the character suffering hell or dying soon, in one form or another. Hopefully this moogle is just a scam.
Fireworks
— First District || 23:00 —

What better way to conclude a festival than fireworks? Fireworks will be launched from the Castle of Aqures Ixen starting 23:00, and will end at midnight, at the same time than the festival. No matter where you are in the city, anyone should be able to watch them easilly if they so wish. Unfortunately, it means falling asleep before midnight may be a bit hard with all the noise.
At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

“Repeat that.”
“Heroes of Light, kupo!” came the frustratingly cheerful reply from Merlose, the moogle. “Come to save us all from the Calamity from the Skies, just like the legends say!”
Ashelia looked around at the other supposed ‘heroes,’ eyes narrowed. This is not right. This cannot be right. There was a tightness in her chest she hadn’t felt in a long while. The young queen thought she had left this feeling behind in the days following the war. The feeling of not knowing what would happen next, if tomorrow would be the day she’d be hunted down by the Empire, if one of the men or women standing beside her would be the one to put the knife in her back: vulnerability. I’m alone again. No castle wall. No friends. After everything… She made a decision. She couldn’t stay here; she needed time to process all this. If what
“Are you alright, kupo?” the moogle asked, fluttering closer to Ashelia’s face. “You do not seem –“
“Of course not! You’ve no idea what you have done – I am Queen of Dalmasca, brought here against my will and forced to…to…” She trailed off, trying desperately to control her anger. “To what? Fight for you? I demand to be taken to the ruler of this Aqures Ixen. This is an act of war!”
“Qu-queen?” Merlose stuttered, backing up considerably. “I didn’t…kupo…”
Ashelia glanced around, worried that her reaction would draw the other arrivals’ attention. “You will take me somewhere private and you will tell me everything I wish to know. Understood?”
“Yes, milady. Of course, milady.” Merlose spun around and led Ashelia away from the Fire Crystal. The queen took one last glance back at the looming monolith, grimacing. She was going to get to the bottom of this, and whoever was responsible would pay dearly.
Culinary Attractions
After the averted public meltdown at the Fire Crystal, Merlose took Ashelia back to her house – a nice surprise for the displaced noblewoman, but not near enough to make a difference as far as her mood went. One long and emotionally draining conversation later and Ashelia was completely famished. She sent Merlose off to arrange a meeting with the leaders of Aqures Ixen and, after taking a while to cool off and regain control of her emotions, she set off to find something to eat at one of the stalls.
Ashelia sighed quietly as she took in some of the options available. At least Merlose had been able to retrieve what Ashelia had been wearing before being whisked away from Rabanastre. Even if the small creature didn’t seem too enthusiastic about her chances of booking a meeting with the interim leaders of the city, she had done that much at least.
Still, the young queen felt more exposed than she ever had before. Even when running from the Empire and struggling to regain her kingdom, she had Vossler and the remnants of the Order of the Knights of Dalmasca, and though at one point she had been willing to take off on her own to King Raithwall’s Tomb, she was rather glad that didn’t turn out to be necessary. Here, in this new world of Crystallis, she was alone. Completely and utterly alone.
The other heroes… Ashelia shook her head as she walked slowly through the crowd, one hand resting on the pommel of her sword. I know them not. I trust them not. It was simple as that. They may well all be in the same situation, but not even Merlose, try as she had to put a positive spin on everything, could invariably vouch for their strength of character.
And so Ashelia walked along, deep in thought, looking utterly and completely lost, though she knew exactly where she was in relation to her home.
Fireworks
It had been a full day. She hadn’t seen pom-pom or poof of Merlose since sending her off that morning, but Ashelia didn’t care. She found it relatively easy to navigate the city, as long as she kept to the major thoroughfares and kept track of where the castle was. As the night wore on, though, she found herself becoming more weary than usual. It hadn’t occurred to her until now how much she would miss magick. At this time, she would have been behind her desk, signing letters and discussing itineraries with her steward – all under the affect of Haste, of course. There was no better spell suited to keeping one awake late into the night, and she much preferred it over the after effects of caffeine.
When the fireworks started, Ashelia found herself on the side of a high hill, under a large, if lopsided tree. She leaned against the trunk, looking up at the light show. It was no doubt beautiful, but it brought her no joy. She had finally won, finally crowned herself queen and saved her people from a disastrous war and the terror of the yarhi…and now she was here, in Crystallis, looking at some fireworks. She brought her hands to her chest, clasping them together, rubbing her wedding band absently. At least I have this still. It would have to be enough for now.
Fireworks!
With that in mind, she searched for a quieter place to watch the fireworks. Spotting the hill and tree, she grinned. Perfect. Charlotte made a bee line for it, Mogsy flapping behind her.
She didn't see the stranger until she'd rounded the other side of the tree and very nearly tripped over her. "Oh! Sorry, I didn't see you there!"
Charlotte was dressed in Red Mage clothes and carried a large tome under her arm. In contrast, her moogle had a bag slung over his shoulder, and seemed to be struggling with the weight of whatever was in it.
Giving the stranger a bright smile, she asked, "Would you mind if we sit here? It's too crowded everywhere else."
no subject
She calmed down considerably when she saw the moogle at the girl's side. One of us. That was a sobering thought. Was she already willing to trust the other 'heroes' so implicitly? Take a step back. Slowly, now.
"O-of course." Ashelia clear her throat, taking a step back. "You've a moogle attendant. Might I hazard a guess that you are also a...Hero of Light?" It was a struggle to get that out. Gauging the reaction of the other 'heroes' was an important step in learning who she might be able to trust, though.
no subject
Mogsy, on the other hand, hovered to the ground and flopped down, dropping the bag and lying on his back, panting. "Ohhh, I'm pooped."
Charlotte pointedly ignored him. "But where are my manners?" She gave the stranger a short curtsey. "I'm Charlotte Aulin, a witch from my world." She glanced at her moogle companion, who remained lying on the grass groaning, before shaking her head in disapproval. "...And my companion here is Mogsy."

"Please, do sit. The lights are truly something to behold."

Culinary...sort of? Lemmie know if this isn't okay.
"It's really your house!" The moogle exclaimed, and the child's unnaturally blue eyes shifted towards the little bear for a moment, then back towards the house. A house. What was she supposed to do with a house? A rather large house, honestly.
"I do not understand," she finally said, her voice flat, mostly emotionless. "Why would they give me a house? Why am I here?" The second part was a question she had asked the moogles several times, to no avail. But she asked it loud enough to easily attract the attention of passers-by.
"You have to have somewhere to live!" The moogle responded helpfully, if only for part of the question, and Shelke turned a frustrated eye back on 'her house.'
THIS IS GREAT
She approached the younger woman with heavy steps, attempting to make known her presence well in advance. "I like it not, but your associate is right. It does none of us any good to refuse what little help we've been offered."
no subject
"Help we know nothing about, to aid in a situation about which we know even less." Her voice was quiet, flat and almost emotionless, though there was an edge of frustration still hinting around her words.
It wasn't hard to guess this woman had found herself here, the same as Shelke had. "Accepting gifts from strangers who have kidnapped us is not a sound strategy." Regardless of whether they had indirectly saved her life or not.
no subject
"I agree," Ashelia answered, crossing her arms. "However, the alternative is staying in the streets or finding some hovel of an inn. We've not been left with much pocket money." The same edge of frustration was present in the young queen's words, though much more apparent than with Shelke. This was deliberate. "It will have to do for now."
Ashelia walked over to the gate and offered a her hand to the younger woman. "I am the Lady Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca."

Lovely Arrival
Parn might have seen a good portion of her argument before approaching her. While he was also a tad unhinged about the whole thing, he wasn't about to show it, as if he were to run into someone he knew. He wouldn't want the morale to lower. This was a foreign land after all, with, strange citizens, and these moogles.
"Mine would also not listen to reason." The said culprit followed in tow behind him.

"Would it not make more of an impact to directly speak with those in charge? If you are who you claim to be, surely they would have no problem allowing you an audience."
no subject
"Of course I shall demand an audience - t'would be foolish not to. Foolish as one might be for presuming to impede on my attempts to obtain as much information as possible as quickly as possible." She shot a scathing look at Parn. "You know no more than I do. So don't interrupt me while I try and remedy the situation."

fireworks!
"This way, we can see the whole display at once, kupo!" he chimed in return, little wings flapping as the incline of the hill increased.
"And maybe -- our necks won't get sore this way," there was a soft giggle as she joked with her companion. For some reason, the festival had inspired a little bit of lightheartedness in her. No matter what happened, or where she wound up -- she had always been fortunate enough to meet kind people along the way. This world was no exception, and neither were the moogles that inhabited it. "We're almost there!" she encouraged, cheering Momolumi on.
"Phew, we made it!" the moogle cried out in victory, drifting to the ground at the top.
A laugh came from the brunette again as she came into view, ready to tease Momo for such a dramatic display -- but the sight of another person caught her view instead.
"Ah..." she reached up, tucking some of her bangs back behind an ear. "Hello."
no subject
"Greetings," came the queen's reply. She cut to the chase - as little time as she'd had to prepare, she was still in a place of moody contemplation. "You arrived this morning as well, did you not? By the Fire Crystal?" The moogle made that clear. Without Merlose about, though, Ashelia didn't expect anyone to realize she was also among the displaced. "I am the Lady Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca. You are welcome to join me. I suspect we'll not see a display of such beauty again in our time here."
no subject
Taking a quick look around, she did take notice of the lack of moogle accompaniment on Ashelia's part, but said nothing. "I admit... I've never seen anything quite like this before," Yuna confessed, turning back towards the colourful patterns in the sky. "It's really very beautiful."
no subject
"Quite." It was a short reply, but it didn't sound short. There was a wistfulness behind it not even the Queen of Dalmasca could hide completely. "We cannot, however, let it distract us from the task at hand."

Such a display of lights didn't seem to interest him, not when it seemed as though some one could use an ear.

"I'm fine." Her reply is rough, and much more emotive than her usual tone. "What is the..."
The boy has a moogle. How many people had been taken? And yet another child.
"I'm fine." Gentler this time, but still standoffish. "Simply taking in the show." If anything, she's more annoyed at herself for being so deep in thought the boy was able to take her by surprise. "You've a moogle attendant."
no subject
The moogle flutters for a moment before settling on his shoulder, bowing its head before introducing itself.
"I'm Lami, kupo~"
"And my name is Link. I take it you aren't from the city here, either, are you?"
He has enough of a trained eye to notice her caution, taking a step back himself as he doesn't wish to alarm her any further than he already had.
"We don't mean to bother you. You looked out of sorts, no offense. My guess is you've been separated from friends and family, too?"
Culinary Attractions
She approached the girl slowly making sure that her presence wasn't a surprise. "Excuse me." Her voice was soft and clear. "Are you alright?"
no subject
"Fine, thank you," came the reply, a little more curt than she'd meant it to be. She was really not in top form at all, but could anyone blame her? "You've a moogle attendant."
no subject
"They don't seem to know to much about how we were brought her though."
Zelda's moogle flew happily behind her, not really concerned about anything other than keeping an eye on Zelda.

She paused, gathering herself. That was more than enough out of her on that subject. It would do them no good to go around in circles. "Beg pardon, I have forgotten myself. I am the Lady Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca. Well met."

Arrival
"I keep telling you, Kupo! This is how it works here! You'll be fine!"
Cloud was having his own problems, both with his satisfaction with his moogle's answers and also the clothing he had found himself in. Unfortunately, the sounds of the festival around them did a good job of drowning out their voices. Cloud didn't even know the Queen was there until he rounded the corner and collided into her!
