Characters: Fayt Leingod, Ameena Leffeld, Nel Zelpher, and whoever else would like to interact with any of the three! First thread is locked to just them, though.

Summary: Chocobos!
Warning: Birds. So many birds.

After a bout of discussion, they'd all come to the conclusion that acquiring a personal mode of transportation for themselves was probably a good idea. Airships were all well and good for long distance travel, but traveling on the ground gave a person a better idea of the land around them, and Fayt had been itching to do just that.

Of course, he's not so sure about this crystal the man had given them.

"So one of the moogles can activate this, and it'll attract the... chocobos?"

There's some coughing and sputtering as he tries to get to his feet, but the bird in question seems quite intent on examining him up close and personal, headbutting him back down to the ground.

With an 'oof' he goes down again.

"I'm fine! Just wasn't expec--" aaaaand there's a mouthful of feathers.

More chocobos are coming along at a slightly more sedate pace now, but they seem far calmer than their companion.

If it weren't for the fact that Fayt was being so... aggressively smothered by the Chocobo, Ameena might have had to stifle some laughter at the sight. Fortunately Irisa seems to have that part covered, giggling in delight.

"Congratulations, Mister Leingod! It looks like this Chocobo really wants to be your partner."

"But..." Ameena can't help looking toward the oncoming group warily, even if they weren't charging like the one lovingly bonding with Fayt.

There was nothing to worry about with the rest of the chocobos, it seems. They come closer, curious, but don't charge at Ameena like their brethren had Fayt.

On Fayt's part, however, he was still getting smothered by said chocobo... or nuzzled, he's not quite sure.

"T...This is liking?!"

"That's exactly it, kupo!" Irisa nods for extra emphasis, waving politely to the other chocobos surrounding the confused Ameena. "So hurry and become friends! There's something you need to go find together."

"But he can't do any of that if he can't even stand up..." Oh, what to do? This was something that had to be settled between Fayt and the chocobo, so how much should she try to interfere? Maybe if she tried to stroke it...

"H-Hey, he can't get up with you like that..."

The chocobo peers up at Ameena, warbling cheerfully before nuzzling her hand and.... ducking back down to tug Fayt up by his shirt.

Obviously, he was in agreement with them both, in his own way. Nevermind that the bird was practically strangling Fayt to pull him up, but he looks pleased with himself at least.

"Huh...? Ah... I do?" Grass in his hair and coughing a little, Fayt looks rather manhandled once he finds his feet, the bird proceeding to preen his hair in a friendly gesture as he takes short breathes. Was it listening to Ameena?

Thank goodness the creature had toned down its... aggressive affection... Though Ameena was still a little nervous, she felt more at ease now that Fayt was standing and the other chocobos weren't in a hurry to mimic their companion's behavior. At least for now, unless Irisa was neglecting to mention something.

"It's really simple, kupo! A chocobo doesn't just join up with you, you need to go on a quest together."

The look on Fayt's face probably wouldn't have been much different if the moogle had been speaking a foreign language.

"It wants me to go on a quest? That's how you get a Chocobo to join you?" The old man had really just tossed Fayt the crystal and told him his moogle could use it to help them find chocobos, but.... seriously?

"Why?"

"Why else would he be trying to drag you?" Well, there were several reasons, but Irisa didn't feel like explaining each and every one of them to Fayt right now. He could be deterred from his goal, and they didn't come all the way out here for nothing. And above that, Irisa had a higher priority.

Raising up one finger, she shakes it at Fayt in a scolding manner, nearly clucking her tongue, too. "Besides! You're not going to keep Ameena out here all day, will you? She might catch cold."

"Irisa, that's jumping to conclusions." Ameena almost sighs, but instead she just shakes her head. "Go for it, Fayt. I think it's this one for you."

"Ah.... right." He looks a little guilty at the moogle's scolding. The thought of Ameena catching sick was more than enough to get him to consider his next actions. So, a quest......?

He glances up at the chocobo, wincing a little as it tugs on a lock of hair.

"So.... Which way?"

The bird lets out a happy 'Kweh' and starts tugging Fayt.... by his hair, to the west.

Needless to say, it's not a pleasant experience.

"Ow, Ow! Let go, and I'll follow you!"

Oh dear, he really did like him, didn't he? Ameena can't stop herself from looking worried, hand idly trailing to the staff attached at her back. It would seem almost silly if this were the reason she started using magic more actively. "Are you sure I shouldn't try to help him out more?"

"Nope! Or else he would be tugging your hair, too." This time Irisa does cluck her tongue, glancing around at the other chocobos quickly. "Now let's all follow him! We don't have all day, unless anyone here wants Fayt to be bald?"

"Irisa!" Honestly, her moogle's humor sometimes...

Fayt at least seems to be picking up the pace. He didn't want to be bald, anyway, and he was doing his best to ensure the chocobo's grip on his hair was a loose as he could make it. Luckily enough for him, the chocobo switches it's grip on him to his sleeve once it's sure it's got Fayt's attention.

Better a ripped sleeve than a bald patch, he supposed. "So how far are we going, anyway?" Hopefully it was close....

"As far as he wants to take you, kupo!" And as fast as Irisa is ushering them both along, Ameena still trailing behind the whole group with uncertainty.

However, there is one chocobo, a white one trailing among the bunch who seems to be noticing this. With a loud "kweh!" it too runs up to join in pushing Fayt along, seeming to grow irritated with every passing minute.

"H-hey! Stop that, I'm going as fast as I can like this." Fayt tries to shove the white chocobo off of him as gently as he can, grimacing a little at the loud ripping sound that issues from his sleeve as a seam gives way.

There goes that, then.

"Damn it...."

Excuse you, blue boy? Are you really denying his desires?! Very well then, he shall take the lovely maiden instead! You can go do whatever you want with the rest of these birds!

Which means that before Ameena even knew what was happening, she found herself half-pulled onto, half-dragged by the persistent white chocobo, who now seemed intent on just doing its own thing with her now.

"H-hey! Please, slow down!"

Nope, not happening, on to adventure!

"Ameena?!" Fayt's nearly ready to tear himself away right there, but then his chocobo suddenly gives up any effort, and finally decides to let Fayt go, tattered shirt and all.

At least for what amounts to about three seconds.

Before he can even think about going to her, the bird ducks and shoves it's head between his legs, flipping him onto it's back.

Face first into it's feathers. Yeah, he's gripping for dear life. That strangled yell is definitely not the most masculine sound to ever escape his throat.

If this were any other situation where Ameena wasn't hanging on to a giant bird for dear life she would have laughed, but she barely registers Fayt's yell as the white chocobo carries her at full speed. Maybe once they were home she could tease him, but right now?

Holy Apris, she hoped Fayt was still okay and the white chocobo wouldn't carry her too far. If they would up in dangerous territory...!

Luckily for Fayt, the chocobo seems to locate the area it's looking for soon enough, a patch of dry-ish grass dotted with rocks and a half dead tree. Nothing really remarkable, nearly indistinguishable from the rest of the plains, but the chocobo seems to think it's a good spot to stop.

Of course, that doesn't mean it's going to stop gently.

When the bird digs it's talons into the dirt to come to a sudden stop, Fayt goes flying, his face going from being buried in feathers to the hard, rocky ground in less than a breath.
