Characters: Gathering for Newbie's to meet and Mingle
Where: Observatory
When: March 7th
Summary: Zelda is getting a party together for those who are new and old so that everyone can meet. She will also answer anyone's question.
Warning: None yet. Will monitor.


The Observatory looks like it was still being worked on from the outside. The building was old and the heroes have only had a few months to work on it. Stables were in the process of being built around the side and it looks as if you can see the whole city from its highest point.

Inside the main entrance was cleaned and made to feel comfortable with soft lighting and polished floors. The front desk has snacks and drinks on it while chairs line the walls. The designs are simple favoring functionality over gaudiness.

"Even if you can't, if you can at least make things edible, I might ask you to teach me. Or help me make more complicated stuff." Lydia knew at least enough to make her own food when Delia wasn't up for it. She didn't really 'cook' though. Not that her mother's cooking was bad...

"Either that, or if I can come over for dinner, I'll help with the clean-up in exchange."

"That one can do, yes," he said, nodding to himself and tugging another bit of his hair free from his moogle. she seemed really taken by the color and length, spending her time to tease a few strands free of his topknot and tugging on them.

Kenshin looked over at Lydia, smiling at her. It wasn't too unusual to find a young woman unable to cook - Kaoru in particular didn't have the patience for cooking proper meals - but he did find it a little odd. Maybe in her world of computers and the like, cooking was not as important as learning about technology. He didn't know for sure and he wasn't going to judge.

"That would be a fair trade, that it would. One does not mind cleaning but sometimes, one does like the company."

Her smile brightened, Lydia clearly pleased she could help. "Thank you. And...thank you again, Mr. Kenshin. For keeping me safe during our escape. And for the help with the brush and notes." Careful of her plate, she curtseyed, head bowed and her thanks absolutely genuine.

Once she straightened, the smile remained. "If you find something that is more modern than you're used to, please don't be afraid to come ask me. I'll try to help as much as I can, too."

"One cannot see anyone be left behind in a place like that, one cannot. This one is glad that you made it out safe, that I am."

The others had worried him too, but most seemed to have been people that could hold their own. Lydia was one of those that he felt needed a hand. She also did help in her own way, even if it was only to lend a hand or otherwise say something that made sense.

"You helped as well, that you did. Be proud of what you were able to do even in such a situation. Sometimes it takes more than fighting to achieve great things."

Lydia blushed slightly, but it didn't mean she wasn't any less grateful. "Maybe. But I wouldn't have been able to do much with the notes without your help too, Mr. Kenshin. You're very good to talk with, and not just because we come up with useful ideas." Sincere and genuine as she meant every word.

"I hope we don't have to do that kind of thing again though, although I am looking forward to exploring some of this world. Would you want to come with me? See what it's like?"

He chewed on his next bite thoughtfully, mulling again about the flavors and texture before swallowing and deciding to try something else. a little more stabbing with his fork, he finally managed to spear a leaf of something rolled around something else. It looked like a roll he had seen made by street merchants but it certainly didn't smell like one.

"This one also wishes that there will be no more prisons for some while. As for meeting new people, it can be limited," he said, eying his new acquisition before taking a little nibble. It was sharp and creamy with an added sweetness from fruit and good. He even said so as he took a real bite of the roll.

"Yes, one can go with you so long as one is not in chains."

Her smile brightened, clearly glad for this. "I'd very much like that. I'd also like to hear more about where you're from, if you don't mind sometime. We haven't really studied in-depth world history yet in my school, and it's much neater to be able to talk to someone who lived it."

Assuming he didn't mind. She also didn't plan to ask intimate details, so much as just what it was like! He hadn't known what a computer was, or photography, for example.

"How are you settling in, in your house? I plan to do some redecorating of my room, more to my tastes, but mostly I've just been sleeping. There was a lot of excitement, and not so much good food to help keep our strength up." A hint of impish grin, but she really had been recovering mostly. "I'm in house B-13."

"Where I was from..?"

Well, that couldn't be helped, as much as he didn't want to talk about some things in his world. Like how people were still struggling, trying to find a place where they fit, and how some people could not let go and instead caused trouble. There were good things to remember, but sometimes he had to wonder about them. He would think about it later.

"Ah, my house... is interesting, that it is. One is still learning about how some things work, that one is. One is staying at B-12."

"You're not far away at all then." Lydia beamed. "If you have questions, please come to me. I'm happy to help explain things you're not used to, Mr. Kenshin. It'd be the least I can do, to help a friend."

"One will do so," he replied and then bowed a little. "One will also wish to welcome you to one's house whenever you wish to. One will always welcome your company, that I will."
