[Cloud purses his lips, almost looking offended at the comment. He looks about to shout but then he stops, and takes a breath.]

He...was my childhood hero. I grew up idolizing him. I wanted to grow up and join the army and be a hero like the 'Great Sephiroth'.

[Anger welled up within him.]

He destroyed my hometown and all the people living there. Tifa was the only other survivor and just barely. My best friend got me out but...he died protecting me...and then he came back from the dead...twice...to try to destroy our whole world.

So no...there's nothing he can do.

The assassin always relied on her speed and agility for attacking and dodging, but she was no match for the lightning fast reflexes of the snakes. In fending off the snapping fangs of one opponent she left herself vulnerable to another sashaying back and forth in a predatory display. The tip of her dagger came down in a swift arc of retaliation, splitting the serpent's head in two as it returned, but the damage was done. Moving away the hand that had shot reflexively to cover her face following the strike, she grits her teeth, adjusting her stance so she can keep her foe in her sights now that her left eye has been ripped away.

Funny, she always thought if she lost an eye it would be to her explosives.

So occupied by the loss, it takes a moment to realize she’s been rendered even weaker by another Absorb attack. When she does, she hops back, fading once more with Stealth. She’ll give this stealth trick one thing, making up alchemy potions while invisible is even easier than doing so when foes are distracted by aeons. Rikku reappears in front of Yunalesca, a vial of her limit break Mix:Black Hole in hand. She’s far too close – in the blast zone herself, but it’s the only way to be sure her companions are a safe distance when she makes the throw, as they are unfamiliar of the large area of effect of her attacks – and the likeliest way for it to hit its mark. Besides, what does she have to lose? One hit and she’s gone now. She’s saved these ingredients for years, and as the bubbling flask launches from her fingertips she places all her faith and hope in it,

Please, you have to work.

There is no reason for her to reappear, the Al Bhed could have stayed safely hidden in the shadows as the concoction sailed towards the woman. She simply wants to look the woman in the eye. She does so, leveling a calm, fierce gaze at the woman with her remaining eye just before the moment of impact.

[Which had been exactly Sephiroth's intention on inviting the guy for a spar. There was nothing like a bit of combat to get the adrenaline-fuelled blood pumping ready for a real fight. It's best to get the frustration, all the insecurity and doubt out there in a practice than having it cloud your judgment when thinking clearly is most important.

When Yugi starts to retreat, Sephiroth follows. Meeting his blade with Yugi's in a slower, but firm succession. It's like playing, but at the very least it's killing the time.]

I did.

[There is no need to extrapolate further, though if he were to answer with more details Sephiroth would quickly find a vast abyss where those memories used to be.

{It all just cuts off...!!}
The small voice is silenced yet again as it's plunged into more relevant memories, hoping that it will be drowned out for good this time.]

Gwen looks back up in hope when she sees the Onion Knight's attack work. It had seemed utterly unimpressive, but Garland is almost down.

Help him. You've got something that'll work.

It'll hit Yunalesca, too. There's no way to attack Garland without getting both of them.

Knock her down, knock her out. Save her life after the real threat's been dealt with.

But what if-

Gwen doesn't get time to finish that thought as the next attack comes. More of the snakes, sneaking through the gaps and holes in her armor, finding flesh and biting deep. She's losing blood and energy alike to the attacks, feeling weaker by the second. Her scream is one of pain, frustration, and the screams of her allies surround her, too. Act. Now. You've got to stop this, because she won't.

"I'm sorry." Tears fall from her eyes, but it doesn't blur her vision for the shot. She raises the gunblade with both hands, bracing her good foot back, as this time, the weapon charges up more significantly than before, light streaming down the entire length of the blade. "I'm truly sorry."

Judgment. It's the one attack she's got that might be enough, might get through to Garland, and might end this. She finds the strength to keep the gun steady as it fires, the impact's center is between Yunalesca and Garland, truly, but the AoE should be enough to catch them both in non-elemental explosive damage. But, if it cuts down the woman that was once their ally, is it worth it? Even if it all ends, is this worth it?

So you'll kill all the innocents of this world?

[Croach was doing his best to reign in his anger at Sephiroth and wasn't able to keep Terra from attacking Tifa. This man was willing to kill everyone to supposedly save the planet, but there had to be other ways to do so.

Terra's next attack had him jumping to one side, hitting the crystal walls of the cave as he let another arrow fly. He couldn't get out of the way of the attack and he hit the wall hard. Her spell had more magic in it than he believed possible. He didn't know how long he could do this, but if he could keep Terra distracted, maybe someone would be able to heal Tifa. Wincing, he let another arrow fly at Terra. Come on, focus on him.

[Kid's got a point, it seems. Tifa can't argue with that. It made more sense to keep going than to just sit and let things happen as they might want to. She clenches both of her hands, keeping them at her sides as her eyes roll back around to catch a glimpse of him before turning away in worry.]

Who.. Who do you think you'll be going with? A lot of the Heroes are talking about breaking up into groups. Any one you have in mind that you'd want to fight alongside with?

[Her lips shift into a strange pout, moving to a corner of her jaw as she looks reluctant to accept Cloud's wish past the false mannerisms of agreeing with him. Tifa just cannot imagine Sephiroth as anything less than a hero, but Cloud had eluded to knowing more than the two of them at some previous points in time. Perhaps he knew something that she didn't?]

"Kenshin, now's not the time for this," Kenichi's voice sounded reluctant as he added in his two cents. Let's just say Haytham's smirk didn't go unnoticed. He took a step close to Kenshin and lowered his voice.

"Look, we all just lost someone we cared for and I'm truly sorry for your loss. How do you think those who left us would feel if they were to see us right now though? Even if you kill him, it won't change the fact they're never coming back. If Haytham really is behind this though, he will not go unpunished for long. So please stand down for now and we should go. We'll come back when this is all over to give them proper final rites, I promise."

He pulled away to slowly, turned around, and followed Haytham for now. The idea of dealing swift punishment at the other man did cross his mind and that he couldn't deny that despite how hypocritical it would be for him after what he said to Kenshin.

Ventuswill slumped over, and the creature that had once been Dycedarg laughed. It was a grotesque barking sound that reverberated off of the crystal walls of the cave. [Ramza shuddered. A brave mage like Ventuswill deserved better than Dycedarg's scorn.]

The rest would fall as well. The creature raised up its arm and drew a circle in the air. A ball of darkness formed, growing rapidly. An almost careless wave sent the darkness toward Rayman, the Hero that had dared strike his face.

[ Everyone was throwing themselves into battle, and she was preparing for that too, since there was hardly anything she could do right now to stop the fighting and Sephiroth. She bit back more tears as Cloud comes flying in.

At least, there was more help as she was relieved to see the blond. Everything was moving faster than she could keep up. Heal, heal, heal! She was trying her best to get that out of her mind so she could heal the other while trying to fight as well. ]

We're not going to let you do as you please!

[ Ishtar was sent flying a good couple of feet from the impact, in attempts to protect herself and Tifa since the other person was injured and she rushed over to heal them. Ishtar was covered in a good amount of wounds, though, she was still stable enough to keep her footing.

There were a good amount of injuries that made it hard for her to move, though, Croach was trying his best to keep the attention to Terra, judging from his move, so she had some time to attempt to save her teammate before saving herself. Everything hurt though. She was covered in injuries when she braced herself for the attack. ]

Shizel watched the scene unfold, the great magic that Ventuswill conjured -- her gaze following its path to watch the damage it inflicted on the creature that emerged from what had once been Dycedarg's body. By the time she turned back towards the girl, she had already been pierced by the crystallized blade... Her dark eyes washed over the figure, not recognizing the young man's face that it had taken on.

The voice inside of her gasped sharply, a desperate No... no! sounding from the corners of her mind.

The woman was unphased, stepping to the side to avoid the spike that shot up from the ground beside her, and crouching down as she felt the need to cough -- her hand covering her mouth, revealing a trickle of blood that she wiped at. Had the poison truly affected her this much? Unless -- there was more poison she had ingested before this... damn.

Closing her eyes, the mage began to chant her spell, weaving the magic around her as she drew up the energy of an attack she would pour all of her Dark Aurora into... Dycedarg -- he would pay for what he had done to her!

The moment the Librarian saw the console, it was the one when she heard the taunt of the protector she injured.

Too late did she try to dodge, only to receive the cut of the weapon and fall to the floor with her own blood showering the blood and the console in front of her, falling limp for a moment.

Her ears rang. Only a year without her combat skin, and yet she knew she wasn't going to live long.

Blair continued. The Librarian dragged herself to lean over the console, trying to climb up as the sounds of the skirmish sounded distant even as the clashes of weapons and energy resonated over their bodies.

Fire--

She crouched down only in time as she held her bleeding side. The shot went too far to have been thrown with intent to put her down.

"Blair! Take cover--!"

More blood. Unfinished commands. In only a few moments, she felt that hypercognizant state, and without any ancilla to aid her, she felt truly alone. She felt fate repeating over, and over again.

While she could, she casted Enlightenment on her allies, as part of her final acts, and grasped onto Blair's leg with one still working arm.

"Child... I beg of you... finish this job... Don't let me see the end again."

A part of her, hope lost when she saw the Gravemind taunting her, nearly begged Blair to kill her if everything failed, and the chances of saving all worlds was lost forever.

The crystalline figure still stared coldly at Ventuswill, seemingly staring right through her as it raises its blade once more to finish her off once and for all. The presence within was equally as still, stunned as she was. But the finishing blow never comes - Yugi's strike shattering it to pieces. Strangely, Venti still had some strength to her - she wasn't sure if it was her own will, or something within her desperately trying to cling for life.

"I guess I overdid it... heh heh. Thanks..." Looking up at Yugi, Venti manages a wry smile for him, in spite of the fact she'd soon be dead. They all surely knew it - this was a fatal wound. The blood wasn't even letting up, nor was the onslaught of crystal spikes it would seem. They couldn't stay in one place for long. Venti coughs, blood trickling out as she continues, "Don't-- Don't worry about me. Focus on that man."

( "No. Don't tell me you're just giving up! Come on, dammit, just listen - we're not having any of that! Not today, not tomorrow, not ever! Think about your friends here, or even back in Selphia. What do you think they would think if they saw you like this?" )

It seems without even intending images of her friends swelled up to the surface, starting with the friends she remembers conversing with back at the Crystal of Water. Then, her friends from home. Was this some kind of plea within herself to hold on? For their sake? Leon, who always had that tricky, impertinent way of speaking with her, yet still seemed to understand her best. Dolce and Pico - the former with a biting tongue, yet still warm-hearted deep down and the latter silly, mischevious; both of their silly antics who always brought a smile to her face. Dylas, never one to express himself well, but a truly kind person despite that. Amber, ever sunny and pleasant, but with a sense of understanding that belies her age...

And her friend from the sky, clutching onto her charm and pleading that Ventuswill was a truly kind, sweet being and would never do something 'so horrible'. ... How strange. This wasn't a memory she personally recalled. None of these images were.

No matter, the sound Dycedarg's inhuman roar of laughter cut off that train of thought. The flashing of memories seemed to work - but not in the way the presence within her was intending, with Venti struggling to stand on her feet. She pulls out her own crystal, in the familiar shape of a Rune Sphere, before looking back up at her friend.

"Listen, Yugi. I need-- I need a favor from you," Venti manages a strained voice of gentleness, almost as if nothing was wrong if not for the blood welling up to her mouth as she reaches out to him. "Can you help me up? Please..."

[It's too late. Blair was already dead, her form that was previously slumped over the terminal now falling to the ground at a single tug of her dress.

No healing magic would reach her, no matter what they did. Sophia's cries would not reach her. The Librarian's pleas would not bring her back. Nothing from Blair would be able to kill the Librarian or finish her off. Even if Blair had been alive, she may not have been able to bring herself to do such a thing to a fellow companion who seemed like-minded in ways she could admire.

All that was left was a corpse slumped to the ground, the color red tainting the then sterile ground beneath it. A former shell of a being that staked everything on a gamble. A gamble she wasn't even sure would work but if it did, it could bring forth seeds of hope in place of despair. Neither of the two initial options presented before her would have been viable - whichever option she took, it surely would not end well were she to remain alive.

Therefore, she had to die. That much she had known in her final moments. Perhaps no one would ever understand her actions as a result. But that was part of the risk involved with such a gamble - a gamble thrown together at the last moment. ]

[Yugi held his sword, wondering what was going to happen next, but as he stepped back he wondered if the time to go was coming up. He knew it was soon, but didn't know when exactly and there was no way to tell the time in here.

So moving his sword, he went and put it back into it's holder. For now would be a good time as any to stop, even if it was for a little break.]

It was as if the world had shattered and was reforming around Hylia. She was only vaguely aware of those fighting around her, her gaze trained on the daunting figure that stood before them. Would they lose so much in this fight?

She trusted those she fought with. She trusted those by her side and so she chose to believe in them. Link had presented her with an opening and she would take it. Her right arm moved out towards the side, light gathering in her palm as she prepared for her chance to fight back. In her left hand a bow shimmered like golden light fitting perfectly in her grasp.

She brought the orb from her left hand forward and drew back the taut string of the bow. An arrow slowly formed in the air, aimed at the darkness she sought to save the world form; Ganondorf.

Hylia released the arrow hoping it would at least weaken him long enough to assess what else was going on around them.

This incarnation of the Hero was skilled with his sword, but so was Ganondorf and he had outlived more Heroes than he could count. The sword hit the armor and pierced through, but the wound wasn't of nature to take him out, not yet and the Demon King was quick to step away and swing the massive swords at the Hero, until he noticed what madness Faize had unleashed on Blair.

"You fool! Defying us shall be the last you will do." It was too late to save Blair, but even then Ganon rose his sword and charged it with electricity, only to unleash it on Faize, should he still be nearby. But he fell on a knee as the light arrow shot by Hylia hit him, adding to the wound inflicted by the Hero.

"Curse you...!" With Blair dead and the Librarian... He couldn't accomplish the plan on his own. This world and Hyrule both were going to be lost because of these fools. "... This is not the end. Even if you win today, all that means is that the cycle continues. Others sharing your divine blood and carrying the spirit of the hero shall fight on this ground again..."

He got back on his feet, visibly weakened and he dropped his sword.

"But then-- Another carrying my hatred shall rise as well..." He chuckled, his hands glowing with dark energy. "You have accomplished nothing today... You have only cursed future Heroes to wander a blood-soaked sea of darkness for all time!

And with that said, he levitated for a moment before releasing all of the dark energy he had left into a massive attack, slamming his fist into the ground. He would die following this and he fully intended to kill the Hero and the Goddess with this-- Though what would happen to them and whoever was left alive was yet to be seen.
