Summary: The Heroes of Light have a shared dream— They find themselves in the body of a Hero of Light from two thousand years ago, both witnessing events and reenacting things that happened back then. But these Heroes of Light aren't just anybody; they are people from their homeworlds... And sometimes themselves. Please refer to the second OOC Post for details and plotting.

[Cloud closes his eyes and lets the spells wash over them. They always carry a pleasant expression with them, but he can feel that they're not really doing anything to help him right now.

His scars ran too deep for simple spells to heal.

He looked up at her and smiled.

Thank you. That feels better.

[Turning from the Professor he looked around at the other gathered heroes.]

Do you think we can pull this off? Do you think we have a chance of winning?

Yes.

[Nebilim answered without hesitation.]

It won't be easy, but we've survived against all odds before. We can do it again as long as we work seamlessly together.

That's what I'm worried about.

[His eyes carried a sadness with them as he looked around the room.]

I want to trust everyone is on our side, but I'm not sure about some. And then there's one I definitely know will turn on us.

[He was sure he didn't have to say who. He'd been vocal about his mistrust in the past, afterall.]

[Her smile wavered at that.]

You're talking about Sephiroth, aren't you?

[She shouldn't be surprised that the topic had been brought up again, honestly. Even so, she had hoped...]

[Cloud sighed and shook his head.]

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this will all go by and you'll all prove that I was wrong about him. At least this version of him. But I can't shake the feeling in my gut that something terrible is going to happen.

Cloud...

[Nebilim crossed her arms, worried. She knew how delicate this situation was. Maybe she shouldn't push it...

'No. Please keep him talking. I want to hear more.'

The foreign though came unbidden, almost as thought someone else had thought it. She was briefly taken aback, but found herself speaking anyway.]

There is nothing he can do to earn your trust, is there?

[Cloud purses his lips, almost looking offended at the comment. He looks about to shout but then he stops, and takes a breath.]

He...was my childhood hero. I grew up idolizing him. I wanted to grow up and join the army and be a hero like the 'Great Sephiroth'.

[Anger welled up within him.]

He destroyed my hometown and all the people living there. Tifa was the only other survivor and just barely. My best friend got me out but...he died protecting me...and then he came back from the dead...twice...to try to destroy our whole world.

So no...there's nothing he can do.

['What...?'

Nebilim listened in silence, recognizing the restrained anger burning in Cloud's eyes. She'd seen that look enough on the battlefield. Sometimes directed at her.]

...I understand. I won't ask you to forgive him. Just don't lose sight of what we're here to accomplish.

I won't. There's still people here I want to protect. And I want to make sure that none of this reaches our home worlds as well. Just know that if he shows his true colors then I won't hesitate to put him down.

[Deep down, Cloud had a feeling that neither of them would be returning from this mission.]
