How to catch a monster.

Characters: Au!Yuna and Fai and anyone who wants to stumble across them.
Where/When: Outside Aqures Ixen, Back dated: 20th April
Summary: Yuna is helping Fai get used to monster hunting.
Warnings: Fighting if that counts

Yuna tapped her shoe against the ground waiting for Fai to catch up. She was moving quickly hoping to find something that they could catch.

“Hey! Over here!” She wasn’t being quiet but she didn’t feel the need to be. She was going to at least show him the gist of it though she was sure that he could figure it out on his own. They just needed to run into something. Bombs were common enough and Yuna knew she could catch one on her own if need be. It was a start and with red mage equipped she can focus on healing.

She turned away from him glancing at the horizon. They were bound to run into something sooner or later.

Yuna's face turned red again with her lips still set in a pout. "Mmm, what is it today? You won't stop picking on me." Even as she spoke her lisp curled into a smile.

"Besides, I didn't think you'd be strong enough to life me." She was trying her best to tease back but she was sure that it wouldn't have the same effect. It sounded better in her head.

Fai's smiling face just wouldn't go away for now. He was happy in the teasing and knew he was going to keep it up. He could see the smile and it helped. "You should consider the picking on as a compliment Yuna-sweetie. I only tease those I'm close to. Unless you count children then that's a different story."

He couldn't help but act up a little bit, putting on a small pout. "I'm much stronger than I look you know, I feel insulted you considered me weak."

Yuna felt as if she might die of embarrassment. She was so glad it was just the two of them and the chocobo as they made their way back into the city. She was also glad to know that Fai considered her a good friend and that thought alone kept her smile in place even as she tried to force it away.

"I don't think you're weak. After all you saved me from the Wyvern." She looked down at him her cheeks still flushed a bright rosy red.

She wanted to thank him for saying that they were close but it sounded awkward in her head and it would probably sound worse out loud. Thank you for teasing me? It was too weird and so she just kept it to herself.

"But you don't have to carry me either."

He knew they were getting closer to town he could still tell that well she was still quite red. "You seem to be going red, it's adorable. But it makes me wonder why?"

He kept a hold of the reins as he made sure they were heading towards Big Yellows home the ranch first before anything. "We are nearly there, which means we should be safe now at least."

Yuna's palms pressed against her cheeks and after awhile the soft red glow slowly faded.

"What do you mean why?"

She was embarrassed and not used to being teased when it came to certain things. There were things that she just didn't think about and being caught off guard when one was brought up made her turn red. Of course turning red usually made her embarrassment worse. It was a strange cycle.

"You don't want to answer, then you don't have to." He said with a small smile as they finally reached the chocobo ranch, Big Yellow chirped happily. She was home and she knew it seeing the other chocobos.

Fai soon let go of the reins and held his arms up slightly "Do you need help getting down though?"

"I got it. Thank you though." Yuna swung her leg over and the slid down big yellow until her toes lightly touched the ground. She stumbled once getting her foots and then was fine.

She looked up at Fai with a smile. "I don't mind answering. I guess I just don't understand the question." At least she wasn't sure what he was asking and she was a little afraid to answer a question that he hadn't asked.

He put his arms down, going to unsaddle Big Yellow giving her a quick pet before taking her to the others and let her go to with.

"See you tomorrow Yellow-chan~" He said before turning to head toward Yuna, making his way over. "Lets get walking. What I mean is people go red for various reasons. I was wondering what your reason was? Was it because you were embarrassed because of the nicknames? If so then my job is done."

"AH," Head's head tilted to the side and she light scratched her cheek. She knew a lot of reason people got embarrassed but she was seen as a public figure back home. There was always someone watching the things that she did and embarrassment wasn't common.

Yuna turned back towards the city falling in step besides Fai. "I guess, you just caught me off guard." She knew that Fai could be playful but she was still learning about him. She didn't know everything and she assumed there would be times that Fai surprised her. It wasn't bad and she thought the nickname was cute. Only Rikku had ever given her a nickname.

He moved and put his hands behind his back as he walked quietly. Although it wasn't for a long period. "Well that just means I'm doing my job right." He let out a small chuckle, but he knew that wasn't all he thinks really.

"It's not something you are use to." he paused with each step he made, trying to think of what to do next, or even say. "I would have thought by now you would realize what I'm like."

Yuna turned towards him looking a little frantic. "It isn't that I don't know you. I mean, I do. I mean not everything but you're my friend and I know that, you know?" She spoke a little to fast for her words to form coherent sentience.

"What I mean to say is.." She slowed down pronouncing each word carefully. "The way you treat me. Isn't like others I know. At home I'm treated as a celebrity, here I'm treated as a hero and you.." Yuna looked over at him with a smile. "You treat me like I'm me."

She was happy, thankful, grateful that she had the chance to meet Fai even if it involved getting drunk. She was happy that they have been able to becomes friends and she would never want that to change.

He chuckled slightly, still walking along side her for the time being. He understood what she was saying, but wondered if this was anyone else if they would.

"Isn't that how friends are suppose to treat one another?" Sure he had been travelling for over a year or so with his friends now and it was something he was use to, but he also knew that there were still things he couldn't be certain about.

"Just like you know who your closest friends are when they are more than willing to punch you if you are being stupid."

"I suppose your right" She laughed softly. They were friends and for some reason that fact alone made Yuna happy.

Yuna looked over at Fai with a crooked smile. "You aren't planning to hit me, are you?" Because Yuna did some very stupid things though the last time they had a heart to heart Fai had yelled at her.

"Just because I might try and hit you back." She teased with a wide smile.

"I have no reason to, but I wouldn't hit a lady anyway." He would hit another man however if they deserved it and needed the stupid punched out of them, but he hadn't found a need to do that yet.

"I'll just tell you off instead. you know that I would after all." He knew that they were closing in on the housing distrcit, but knew it still might be some minutes before he was certain about that.

Yuna laughed. "Yes, I do have experience with that." In a strange way Yuna was happy that Fai had yelled at her. It helped her get herself together and it made her feel more confident.

Even if the world should fall apart around them she would feel strength knowing that Fai was nearby. She watched as the buildings past wondering if it would be to hard to change their path so she could walk him home.

"Now that you've tried monster hunting what are you going to do next?"

"I don't know." He paused for a moment, wondering what his next move will be. "Maybe travel the world, exploring. Learning more about here. the world is ones oyster after all."

It basically meant he had little to no idea what he was going to do, but he did know that he would do something at least, maybe find a way to help out or something.

His blue eyes, glanced over from building to building. He knew where he was at least, so he knew where to go from here. "What about you? I mean you do pretty much a bit of everything, so are you ever going to just relax and chill out?"

Yuna laughed at that. "I like keeping myself busy but I hope one day I can finally stop running. I actually really like cooking and doing everyday things. Putting my room together was a lot of fun." She looked over at Fai keeping her smile wide.

"But I have to find something before I can do that."

She wasn't going to slow down or stop because then she would start to think of all the things she missed. There was something she needed to find first though she couldn't begin to tell Fai what it was.

"Sometimes the normal everyday can be relaxing and fun..." He paused slightly, his head tilting upwards towards the sky. Normal was fun at times, but he was kind of use to having to be on an adventure, having to do something that they get dragged into.

Those were always fun and he wondered if he could do better at getting involved here than he had been for the past few months. He wanted to at least.

"But... Getting out, seeing the world and helping is always more fun, you know."

"Yes." Yuna smiled brightly. She agreed completely with what he was saying though she didn't have the words for it.

She kept in step beside him enjoying the gentle rays of the sun as they walked. When they walked into the housing district she tried to guide them towards his house so she could walk him home.

Fai was quick to note the route and not where Yuna was trying to lead him. But instead of stopping and calling her out on it, he had another idea. Instead he kept walking for the time being, but sneakily knowing how to change direction without the other realizing.

"Looks like we're nearly back now." He said putting a hand lightly on top of his head, looking up slightly at the sky. "The sun seems to be going down now, so that means we must have been out for a while."

Yuna looked up at Fai and then over at the sun. "I suppose so. Sorry, I hope you didn't have other plans today."

She was happy though, it had been fun. She continued forward and for a moment was lost to her thoughts.

"I wouldn't have gone hunting in the first place if I had other plans." he knew things like that would take time, a lot of time, so he had known not to do something stupid like that this time.

He had carefully turned, hoping that she wouldn't notice while she was focused at the sun, watching it set, but he knee full well to talk while he did it.

"My plans now just consist of eating then going to bed. I guess I should add Yuki-chan worrying about me a bit, but that's about all."

Yuna looked over at him and smiled. "Yuki worries about you a lot?" She was sure that Celes didn't much care for her at times with the way he would just vanish.

She almost stopped walking when she noticed they were heading towards her house and not his.

"Hey! Wait a second!"

"Sometimes, when I'm not trying to get him to talk to people." He soon realized that she just noticed what he had done and all he could do was give a cat like grin.

"Wait a second? What do you mean by that Yuna-chan? We were just walking home."

"But I was walking you home." She stated this like he had known her intentions because she was pretty sure he did.

Yuna had to fight the urge to pout as she looked up at Fai. "Why can't I walk you home?" He's given her reasons before but they all felt like excuses.
