Intro Log || The Night of the Thirteen Moogles

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of October. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light. New Heroes of Light will not have their Crystal.
Warning: N/A

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo," the call of the Moogle finally waking you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who arrived these past months too and they will come soon! Like you, they had Jobs and a Crystal-- Wait, you don't have a Crystal...? That's weird.

Your Moogle will be puzzled by this fact, as all Heroes of Light are supposed to have a crystal with them. Well, maybe you are not a Hero of Light after all?

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —

Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world one or two months ago. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers worthy of being revered as heroes. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a minor disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The Night of the Thirteen Moogles
— Anytime —

Something that may be obvious, is that the city has a spooky feel to it. There are various decorations, it clearly looks like a work in progress but it seems the idea is to make the city looks as scary as possible. Characters familiar with Halloween may recognize the decoration as being strikingly similar. The Moogles will be more than pleased to explain these are all preparations for the upcoming Night of the Thirteen Moogles on the 31st, and they will explain the legends to characters if they ask.

Hopefully all this talk of curse and King Moggle Mog is nothing more than legend.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —

There are a lot of things left to do in the city, especially with everyone excited for the upcoming celebration. Starting from 18:00, a series of BLitzball games will take place at the stadium located in the tenth district, opposing amateur teams in a friendly competition. At the same time, a small group of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, and they are more than happy to teach the rule to anyone passing by. Characters are free to enter and play games of Triple Triad, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. This may be the start of a promising career!

Characters are also free to visit the city-- Be it Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with very busy Moogles, or the Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline, knowing the next airship departing from Aqures Ixen will do so on the 9th. Still, characters can board an exposition Airship should they like and visit it.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

Zelda smiled. "Just some dried flowers, leaves and plants. We celebrate the harvest so its mostly rustic things. I'm excited to make pumpkin soup this year. It's not anything fancy but it is the time when we know that we will make it through the winter, so its a happy time." Her smile warmed as she talked about home.

"I have to admit though, I don't quite get why they take away abilities we have and give us new ones? Could we still be heroes and help them while still keeping what we had before? Why the change?" That had been something pondering the young woman. Taken were her powers and replaced with new ones she had to quickly learn how to use again.

"Oh. Well, uh, guess it's a good thing you got sucked here, then. This place is okay." For now. "Okay" was the best rating Sparks could ever muster for it; he wasn't too fond of Aqures Ixen.

Ah, right. They hadn't been introduced. He offers a hand for a handshake. "Sparks Nevada. Marshal on Mars, Aqures Ixen police officer, so-called Hero of Light."

New abilities? Ales was sure that the crystals expanded on your current ones instead of giving you entirely new ones.

"What kind of abilities were taken away from you, then?"

"Would you want to? Practice I mean." She pointed out at the Blitzball players curiously. It was an interesting sport but nothing the young ninja has ever thought to partake in.

Yeul stares at his hand a moment before lightly giving him her own. She wasn't used to such a gesture and so quickly brought her hand back down to her side. "I am Yeul."

She looked over at Hibi a moment before looking back at Sparks. "You are a police officer? Does that mean it is unsafe here?" Her tone was still calm but she felt uncomfortable.

"Well the city has many things like things called airships that can take you somewhere. There is also this game that looks fun in the water and the people here are quite nice. I mean I have yet to come across anyone who was mean."

She spoke pretty highly of the place but then again she really hadn't seen anything she didn't like except during what happened recently. She wondered if she was suppose to be mention that, but she avoided it for now.

Sparks shrugged a bit. "Only 'bout two months, so it ain't as impressive as it sounds."

As far as jobs go, the marshal was fairly certain what Bloom was. He flagged over his moogle and gave her the signal to switch into his own armor. In a flash, he was wearing a similar outfit, though it's definitely seen a battle or two. "Lemme guess - Paladin? That's what I am, and Warrior too. That's what the crystals are about, or so they tell us. Normal folks here only get one job for life, but we can switch 'em around and learn new ones."

"Not with me on the force," he said with a confident grin. "Reckon there ain't a city in existence that don't have police. Someone's gotta keep the peace. But this place ain't so bad in that regard."

She was glad to hear that and slowly felt the muscles in her shoulders relax. She knew that Caius would tell her to be careful until they figured out what had happened.

"That's good to hear. So you are not from here?"

Genesis had heard of other receiving housemates when the new arrivals came in last month. She hadn't thought this would actually be a monthly thing, however. She supposed she was wrong and wasn't entirely sure how she felt about getting her own housemate. He was just a boy. She never roomed with someone of the opposite gender before, let alone someone as young.

Monty flailed at Michiko before puffing his cheeks right back and crossing his arms. "Anyone can have a Job! But he didn't come with his Crystal so how do you really know?"

Genesis sighed and reached out to pull Monty back by his wing, causing his to flail again. "Monty, that's enough. If they awoke by the Crystal of Fire just like I did, then I'm sure there's an explanation." She turned to Shun. "My name is Genesis Rhapsodos. I suppose you will be the one in the vacant room, then?"

Of course, then she remembered she was making soup.

"If you're hungry, I'm making lunch," She said, walking back over to make sure she didn't burn anything.

"No ma'am. I'm...

...from Earth."

Why the pause? Who knows. But it seems important somehow.

"Reckon you didn't give me your name."

"I am Yeul." She didn't know anything about Earth but didn't want to ask either. Instead she just stood, curiously staring up at him.

"It's -- all right," it didn't feel all right, but there was no changing that. The reality was that Lightning was here, alive and well, just like the others. And so, that was enough for now. "Even in the war our memories were often -- well, incomplete," and yet, Yuna was cursed to remember. Even in the endless war, she had always remembered a little more than most, a product of being a veteran warrior.

"I would... be happy to tell you anything you'd like to hear. But first," she took a little more time to look the other woman over, "you're all right? The arrival wasn't too much or anything... was it?" Lightning was a capable fighter, she knew that, but -- it wasn't going to stop her from worrying.

"Unfortunately it's been happening to me as of late." Ever since Serah became a l'Cie, nothing has been the same. They've been hunted and discovered terrible secrets. It might be nice here, but Light still had things to do.

"It's a city. And it's too early to judge." She hasn't even been here a day yet, that's not enough to go on.

Oh, the church. It was still a bit of a sore subject for Ramza. He still held a tentative belief in God, despite his discovery that the Church he had grown up in was based on lies.

"The Priests of Ivalice teach that one cannot change his destiny. Those born low remain low, while those of noble lines stay noble. Only by the will of the Creator, or by the intervention of Saint Ajora, can one hope to rise above their lot in life." Looking at it from an outside perspective, it seemed so obvious that the teachings were a ploy to keep control over the masses and to please those in power. Ramza sighed.

"Their 'saint' was a traitor and their highest priests villains. Everything they taught was a lie. It is possible to change your fate, if you reply on yourself instead of on some divine figurehead." That probably made little difference to someone who had foreseen her own death, but Ramza hoped she could glean what comfort there was from free will.

[[had to make up some teachings about the Church of Glabados, but that's probably what they told people. orz]]

[Waking Up]

[Akiha would probably be more disoriented after being woken up by a fluffy beast and told she was a special hero if she hadn't been exposed to the unpredictable antics of an overly bubbly queen. No, it was the moogle itself that had her perplexed, mainly because she couldn't figure out what manner of beast it was. Thankfully, her beast - it told her its name, but she didn't care to listen - looked marginally more like a rabbit or a bear than a cat. Still, once it told her what was going on and endured her acidic tone (it did flinch a couple times at her tone of voice), she summarily ignored the moogle and focused her attention for the moment on the Crystal of Fire.

She also seemed to ignore everyone else around her, as well, as she mulled over her situation. That was, until she realized she had something like a bonnet on and snatched it hastily off her head and cast a wary glance around to see who may have seen her with the stupid hat on.]

[Other Heroes]

[When the other supposed Heroes of Light arrived, they would find Akiha watching them arrive with a cold look in her eyes. She really hadn't expected any grand heroes like the legend spoke of, but couldn't they have cleaned themselves up better when meeting new arrivals? If any had their crystals in plain view, her attention would gravitate to them.

All the while, her moogle sat on the ground behind her with a semi-dejected look on his face, idly grooming himself.]

[B-09]

[Akiha threw the door to her housing open and started exploring the common area. This was where she was supposed to be? She supposed it would be tolerable, if very small.

Little did she know there were other people living there and it wasn't just a house for her alone.]

Ashelia exited the university library, muttering to herself and shaking her head. Another day wasted looking for information that simply just didn't seem to be there. She wore a short skirt and a loose peasant blouse, tucked into a leather belt. She didn't look too out of place in Aqures Ixen these days, except for the moogle following her every move. Merlose drifted behind the queen, scribbling a note on a piece of parchment. She looked up a moment, only to have her attention drawn away when she spotted Lightning and Cosmog. "Your Highness, over there! They've arrived!"

Ashelia looked over at Lightning, surprised. She had just been on her way to the Crystal of Fire and had expected all the new Heroes would still be there, lost and confused. Not so for this one. She approached Lightning briskly, nodding in greeting. "Greetings, and welcome to Aqures Ixen. I expect you've some questions. I am the Lady Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca; I shall offer what knowledge I can."

Other Heroes

With the story of the legend under his belt Zack focused on the others standing around. Mostly he's looking for a certain spiky-haired blond because if Cloud's not here then there's a real possibility that ShinRa got their hands on him. The kid couldn't even walk on his own, or take on entire battalions of troops. So he certainly was looking around for the unconscious kid but Zack isn't looking in the right areas, he wouldn't find Cloud slumped somewhere on the ground.

In his quest for his friend, he can't ignore anyone else hanging around with a Moogle hanging around. So After he'll scratch the back of his head awkwardly. He knew what he looked like, big guy large sword, scar on his cheek. Zack will approach with a smile. "Hey, you okay? This is all pretty weird, right?"

Of course if he does see familiar old faces in the crowd, chances are good that they'll find Zack just staring at them. Because really, he didn't expect to any of them here.

Aqures Ixen

Right now Zack is entirely too happy to have the currency of this world lining his pockets. It meant that he can find a good restaurant and buy his fill of food. Being on the run for nine and a half months meant getting food when ever he could, sometimes he'd go without to stretch out their supplies between towns.

While everything around here is very interesting, all he cared about was following his nose and sitting down to order practically everything on the menu. He made quick work of half of the food but then started slowing down. When someone moved into his personal space, Zack motioned to the seat across from his. "Dig in. Turns out I can't eat all of this by myself."

"I intended to," she said. Lightning wasn't the sort to try to keep information for herself. And she doesn't intend to just sit around if none of them reply to her. This is the kind of woman who will find them and talk to them in person.

Can't ignore someone who was standing right in front of them and who would refuse to move at all until she got an answer. First though she would try to send them letters.

It wasn't all right to Light. Not remembering something, and it doesn't get any better when Yuna spoke of how their memories in the war weren't complete either. She can't ever imagine forgetting Serah, her friends or anything they've been through together. All of it was so important to her and she imagined that anyone would feel the same in her place.

"No one has tried to kill me yet so I'd say that today is better than the last time I woke up in a strange place." Even in her own world, today isn't an unusual occurrence. Might explain why she was so well-adjusted in the war.

For a moment, Light had considered going into the library to see if she could dig up any more information about this world. Information that her Moogle hadn't told her. Stories always changed when spoken aloud but words in book were written that way for long periods of time. In the end she decided to save it for another day, one where she could spend hours there so for now she mentally marked the place on the map Light was forming in her mind.

She noticed the woman with a moogle trailing behind her leave the library, when that moogle noticed them in return. It was why she didn't turn around and continue on her way. Light waited for the pair to make their way over. "I have quite a few questions. My name is Lightning Farron."

A nod towards the library. "What are you looking up there?"

With the note-taking she had been doing, Light seriously doubted that Ashelia was there to find a novel to read.

She too, was relieved to not have another crystal. Right now Light was safe from being a monster or a crystal with her l'Cie brand turned white and she didn't need another Focus to worry about.

"I don't know what to think as of yet. There's a lot we don't know." Said casually. Despite all of the similarities to things in her world, Light was trying to not limit herself to that single line of thought. It would come back to haunt her if she wasn't right.

When he talked of food, she shifted uncomfortably. "I'm not hungry. But I'll sit with you." It seemed too casual for her - too normal and if she tried to eat like that, it would only put her on edge. Lightning would rather find her own food and cook it at the place they assigned her to sleep.

"Thankfully not. It's all somewhat garish, wouldn't you agree?" Ashelia said lightheartedly as she approached the new Hero. She wore a long, rough-looking skirt and a loose peasant blouse. A sword hung at her belt and she looked somewhat disheveled. "I'm somewhat glad I plan to miss most of the festivities."

She smiled at Ramza, nodding politely. "Walk with me. My home is also in the 14th District. I am the Lady Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca. Welcome to Aqures Ixen."

"Well met, Lightning." Ashelia nodded again at the other woman. "Ever since I arrived three moons ago I have endeavored to learn all I can. From legends, stories and fables to basic scientific theory, magitek and crystals." It was stated matter-of-factly, though with a tinge of disappointment. "Needless to say, there is much and more yet to learn. An outsider can only glean so much from these books."
