Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.
At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:
"Wake up."
Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo," the call of the Moogle finally waking you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.
Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.
The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who arrived these past months too and they will come soon! Like you, they had Jobs and a Crystal-- Wait, you don't have a Crystal...? That's weird.
Your Moogle will be puzzled by this fact, as all Heroes of Light are supposed to have a crystal with them. Well, maybe you are not a Hero of Light after all?
The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world one or two months ago. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers worthy of being revered as heroes. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.
If so, you may be up for a minor disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.
The Night of the Thirteen Moogles
— Anytime —
Something that may be obvious, is that the city has a spooky feel to it. There are various decorations, it clearly looks like a work in progress but it seems the idea is to make the city looks as scary as possible. Characters familiar with Halloween may recognize the decoration as being strikingly similar. The Moogles will be more than pleased to explain these are all preparations for the upcoming Night of the Thirteen Moogles on the 31st, and they will explain the legends to characters if they ask.
Hopefully all this talk of curse and King Moggle Mog is nothing more than legend.
The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
There are a lot of things left to do in the city, especially with everyone excited for the upcoming celebration. Starting from 18:00, a series of BLitzball games will take place at the stadium located in the tenth district, opposing amateur teams in a friendly competition. At the same time, a small group of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, and they are more than happy to teach the rule to anyone passing by. Characters are free to enter and play games of Triple Triad, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. This may be the start of a promising career!
Characters are also free to visit the city-- Be it Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with very busy Moogles, or the Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline, knowing the next airship departing from Aqures Ixen will do so on the 9th. Still, characters can board an exposition Airship should they like and visit it.
Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

Mogamut made sure to fill him in on the goings on and he crossed a lot of what was said out his mind. He doesn't find any of it to make any sense other than what he thought was just an odd rendering of some god playing tricks with his mind. It wasn't uncommon that such things happened and he challenged his fate on a constant basis.
This case was no different.
His wicked sword, Chaos' Revenge stayed on his back against the heavy black metal of his plate armor indicative to the Black Knight job class with spikes and chainmail covering his body from head to toe. His footfalls were heavy and he painted a rather menacing picture. He removed the helm and had discarded it upon his awakening and how he felt that Yeul wouldn't recognize him with it on. Aside from which, his moogle still picked it up and carried it in his satchel in case it was needed another time.
He was more interested in discovering what this place was rather than get involved with anything aside from exploration. The talk and the passing glances put Caius on edge. He couldn't feel anything from the plastic faces among the town's folk and that was an irritation. He wasn't at his best but come Hell or high water, he wasn't giving away his weakness nor giving in to the thoughts that he might be human once more.
It was off putting but no less substantial in its own truth. He stood out and no one seemed to be afraid of him; for now at least. Children spoke of him how different he was and how cool he appeared, especially among the boys. The memory of Noel came to mind and he felt guilt physically for the first time. It was a heart-sinking feeling and it made him wonder just how cold he was before. It seemed unlike him to give any passing emotion to anything outside of his own actions but it was just another nail in the coffin toward thinking that he wasn't where he should be.
He kept his distance and moved as far away as he could away from the people and stayed along the edges of the streets to keep himself from being seen. It was a feeble attempt considering his height and obvious appearance. The moogle was a dead give away that he couldn't shake. So much for subtlety.

She chose her targets specifically and he was an odd one. She stood and slowly began to follow him but staying to roof tops for now. A banner came into her sight and she ran over to it with glee. It was the perfect entrance for a great ninja such as herself. She untied the fabric holding the banner in place and calculated her swing. This was at least a stunt she has pulled once before.
Yuffie jumped off the roof top and swung down towards Caius with a happy smirk on her face. She released her grip and turned in the air, landing easily on Caius's shoulder. That wasn't what she had planned but it was worth it. "Hey there!"
Before he had time to react she quick flipped down in front of him. "WOW! Your really tall!" Her hand covered her eyes as if squinting into the sun.

"Hmph." He righted himself and returned the sword to his back once again. This girl was a nuisance and worse than what he thought Serah to be. The crowd had parted and circled around to see the show of what was happening and Mogamut was just as stunned.
"Um, that was rude, kupo. My hero has no time for games." At least the moogle was on his side and that was just as bad. In some ways, the moogle became his voice which was better than his own. At least for now that was acceptable.

"I'm Yuffie! A Hero of light and the Greatest Ninja Ever! Also known as the Princess of Wutai." She might have messed up her usual greeting but she quickly shrugged it off and continued.
"I just noticed you walking around. You kinda stand out. " He didn't seem to have anything to steal on him which was a shame but he looked like he was entertaining.
no subject
Caius was less than amused though he wasn't about to fight a person that was half his height. He could kill her with one blow but the thought of Yeul burst through his mind. Yuffie was her age and it bothered him.
"You are a child." His brow creased with a sternness through contemplative thought.
He didn't care for the superficial. He knew he was an intimidating sight to many except for those that didn't heed the visual warning. At least his patience was clear that he wasn't about to stomp her flat into the cobblestone. Any items worth stealing was hidden under his armor and there was no way he was taking it off in front of a stranger. His headband, for what seemed ordinary, was one of his most cherished possessions that served a purpose and served as a memorial to a life he once had.
He canted his head to the side to regard this peculiar girl that so loosely introduced herself. "Where is your entourage?" To him, a princess had an escort and he saw none around.
RAWR
When he mentioned an entourage she thought of her moogle, her father and then all the SOLDIERS who were also in the city. "I ditched them."
Her eyes finally moved towards Mogamut. "Looks like your moogle is more fun then mine."
RAWR
Caius wanted to roll his eyes but instead he let out a soft groan to depict his disinterest. Caius wondered now if this Yuffie was another one of those run-away princesses that never thought too far ahead and lived in the moment. He had met many like her in the past and all of them were met with the same fate.
"I have no interest in becoming your guardian. You have your own." He stepped by her with the heavy clanking sound of metal against cobblestone.
RAWR
She shrugged as Caius walked past. "Geeze and here I was trying to help." She turned quickly and moved to walk next to his side. He was hard to keep up with but Yuffie was fast.
RAWR Pfft, wow, she's persistent. :P
He offered no words while he struggled with the multitude of thoughts and scenarios that ran through his mind. Killing her was out of the question and she hadn't done anything to him to deserve that action. He had no crystal but the moogle was a sign at least that he was chosen, but without knowing what that purpose was he was left to his own devices.
"Your aid is not necessary." Caius spoke calmly in spite of his thoughts of carnage that he couldn't erase. Her idea of help was a little skewed, but he wasn't about to start in on what he thought was helpful versus what her thoughts were on the matter.
Truth be told, he didn't need his moogle either but he seemed useful and at least somewhat amusing.
Mogamut paused and wondered what she meant by any of that before he was forced to catch up or else he would be lost too. "Hmph, you're not gonna get far with that attitude, kupo. My master is a true master." He said with rather inflated tone.
Caius spun around and batted the moogle away in a flash that sent the little guy screaming toward a nearby kiosk. "KUUUUUPOOOO!"
The little minion was quickly becoming a menace. He didn't need to have any of that kind of talk and certainly he wasn't in the mood to deal with an over-inflated ego from the moogle. To put the tiny creature in his place fast was in order and with a glare he looked to Yuffie as if he was about to deliver the same to her if she didn't stop. He was in a foul mood and it showed.
RAWR Yes
Yuffie giggled at the sight of the moogle flying. "Are you really a hero if you don't have a crystal?" She's been ease dropping on those around her and found the change to be interesting.
She was fine with leaving him to his own devices, though she might follow him from the roof tops until she found something more interesting to do.
RAWR Oh lord, don't give him any ideas.
Mogamut returned though his flight was a little on the wobbly side given that he had been tumbling through the air at such a dizzying rate of speed that no matter what direction he was facing, he wasn't too sure how he wound up inside a basket of fruit. The moogle thought to interject something but stopped himself. He could barely recall the reason why Caius had sent him flying in the first place until he remember that it was his manner of speaking that irritated his so-called hero.
One thing was certain, Caius was a lot faster than the moogle had anticipated.

He'd started to learn the back alleys and shortcuts around Aqures Ixen during his time here, and it made his day-to-day life easier. The distance was shorter, and there was less congestion on the whole. It was here that he encountered the new Black Knight in town, but before Snow could reach a decision whether or not now was a good time to introduce himself (after all, people who typically took the side streets did so in order to avoid being bothered), they'd already passed by one another.
Not two steps past him, though, Snow stopped and spun on his heels, eyeing him suspiciously as he went. It couldn't be... could it?
"Caius?"
Snow had never actually met the man himself -- not for real, not face to face -- but he recognized him from both his Focus dream and the brief glimpse of him that he'd caught upon the world's ending. This was the man who'd killed Etro -- who'd killed Serah -- and all things considered, Snow still hadn't fully worked through his feelings about it yet. This was going to be an interesting encounter, to say the least.

The Dark Knight turned around slowly, his heavy armor clacked through his movements. He wasn't as rude as many others but his moogle decided to answer for him instead. "That depends on who's asking, kupo."
A dangerous glare met his moogle and the little creature cowered down. Caius had already tossed him once already and a second attempt wasn't too far in the making should Mogamut keep this up.
"Yes." It was a simple answer to confirm Snow's suspicions. He had no reason to hide and he certainly wasn't about to start now.

Upon spying Caius amongst the rest of the new arrivals, something about the darkness shrouded man intrigued Mordred. Maybe it was a bond of their shared job, or the demonic sword strapped to his back that so reminded the knight of her own Clarnet. Either way, she went about her tasks, one eye remained on Caius. A curious gaze that wondered what this warrior's tale was.

He followed his moogle's arm toward another that was looking on. Without a word, he turned his gaze back toward the glass ware to make his purchase. Once made, he turned away from the booth, but it was Mogamut that made the introduction.
"Hello, I'm Mogamut and this is Caius. Don't mind him, he's a little grumpy." Caius was growing used to his moogle's personality but that didn't mean he had to like it. He shot the creature a quick glare.

Seeing the large man standing in his living room however made Cloud stop in the doorway, shocked for a moment and then narrowing his eyes in anger. "Who are you and why are you in my house?"
no subject
The demanding tone that Cloud possessed certainly marked a familiarity. People often had said that to him when he was collecting Yeul. He smirked with a soft scoff. There was no need for his temper to rise though he would be more worried than irritated if Cloud didn't question his presence, not that he would show it of course.
"I see that you wasted no time in questioning my presence. I am Caius and a resident here as well." He said nothing else to the effect that he was not amused at the same time twisted with a raw sense of emotional discord that he held back and for good reason.
They didn't know each other, which was obvious. What wasn't obvious was the way Caius gauged Cloud as a potential threat. He was without his powers and saw everyone as one without any reveal that he was stripped down to base human. He was nearly a god and was about to kill a god. At the very least, he wasn't burdened with the crystal.
He stepped away from the picture of what seemed like a landscape painting toward the window. Sitting on the couch in his armor wasn't something he thought of doing. He was heavy enough as it were with an additional hundred pounds of metal to add to his natural body weight.

Cloud snatched the missive and tore it open. His frown only deepened as he read over the written warning about his upcoming roommate. When he was done he sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose with his fingers.
"I'm sorry. This little idiot keeps neglecting to fill me in on things. I'm Cloud. I guess you're one of the new arrivals too?"
no subject
He stepped from the picture toward the steps. He needed to get out of the armor but without a change of clothes on hand, he was caught in a puzzle.
"Which room is mine?" He asked out of politeness since he wasn't the first to reside here.
He looked to Mogamut. The chubby gray moogle flew toward Mako and patted him on the back. "It's okay, kupo. I was yelled at too."
no subject
"Well...uh...I took the one near the top of the stairs. The far one is still open."
Mako glances at Mogamut before turning away, crossing his arms in a huff, "These 'heroes' need to learn to respect us! After all, we're here to assist them, kupo!"

He had in his head that he needed to explore the world a bit to understand the mechanics and the legends. Perhaps he could gather some information about the truth of this world. Or maybe not. He was at a loss. He chose not to show his confusion and instead chose to continue as if nothing had changed. He didn't think to ask about the loss of powers. He figured that it was better not to tread on that territory.
After a few minutes of quite exploration which only resulted in Caius returning to the common room where he chose to take a seat at the only chair in the room. "It is adequate."
no subject
"It's the place they've given us. We're lucky they didn't force us to just fend for ourselves." He honestly didn't mean to be so harsh, but this meeting had gotten off on the wrong foot and wasn't making much progress. If Caius had actually been rude then this would be easier, but his trying to pretend as if nothing wrong was somehow even MORE offputting.
no subject
It was true that he shouldn't have looked down on the house, but that wasn't his intention despite that his words came across that way. Being human again meant that he needed the shelter be it a cave or a burrow. Three basic needs had to be met and one of them was just as uncomfortable as the last.
As if he had brushed off the feeling just as fast as it emerged, Caius took a seat on the chair that he had picked as if he had owned the place. "As long as we are forced to reside, one certainty remains clear. My presence alarms you, does it not?"
no subject
"I wouldn't say alarm. I wasn't expecting a roommate. And now you're here just making yourself at home. You can't tell me you're surprised that I'm a little put off." An apology would be nice Caius. It's not like he's saying he's going to throw you out.
no subject
Apologies were not something he gave. Instead, he sat on the chair with a smirk. He was familiar with the stubbornness Cloud was giving. It reminded him of Noel. With a slight lean forward with his hands resting loosely between his knees, he was relishing this interaction.
"As much as the situation offers little to my defense, I shall remain here for the time being." It was strange that he found the chair adequately comfortable and he liked it enough to stay put.
