Intro Log || The Night of the Thirteen Moogles

Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: The 5th of October. The new Heroes of Light will awaken early in the morning.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken in Aqures Ixen and are informed by their assigned Moogles of what the situation and what their destinies are. This a log for them to react to the situation, meet each other and be welcomed by the former batches of Heroes of Light. New Heroes of Light will not have their Crystal.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.

At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. Upon doing so, you can hear a soft, soothing voice speaking:

"Wake up."

Soon, the void itself vanishes and is replaced by distant noises of engines. Had it all been nothing more than a dream? The soothing voice repeats its call one more time, but is soon replaced with a much less graceful "Wake up Kupo," the call of the Moogle finally waking you up. But you are no longer in your world, nor in the void. You are before the Crystal of Fire, in the third district of a city called Aqures Ixen. At this point, you may realize the engine noise actually originates from an Airship flying low over the city and headed to the castle. As if it wasn't strange enough, your clothes have changed as well. They are now a reflection of the Jobs you are wielding. Last but not least, you are surrounded by Moogles, small and fluffy creatures who are more than happy to tell you about everything you want to know, about your 'destiny' as a Hero of Light, about what awaits you.

Or at least, they will tell you everything they do know, which isn't much in the end.

The only people around you are like you-- There are quite a few of them, all clothed in their Job garbs and most likely wondering what is happening. If somehow you do not realize it, the Moogle who woke you up will be more than happy to inform you there are others like you around. In fact, there are other Heroes who arrived these past months too and they will come soon! Like you, they had Jobs and a Crystal-- Wait, you don't have a Crystal...? That's weird.

Your Moogle will be puzzled by this fact, as all Heroes of Light are supposed to have a crystal with them. Well, maybe you are not a Hero of Light after all?

The Other Heroes
— Shortly Thereafter —
Thanks to the efficiency of Mognet, it does not take long for the other Heroes to come around: those who arrived in this world one or two months ago. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers worthy of being revered as heroes. And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.

If so, you may be up for a minor disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.

The Night of the Thirteen Moogles
— Anytime —
Something that may be obvious, is that the city has a spooky feel to it. There are various decorations, it clearly looks like a work in progress but it seems the idea is to make the city looks as scary as possible. Characters familiar with Halloween may recognize the decoration as being strikingly similar. The Moogles will be more than pleased to explain these are all preparations for the upcoming Night of the Thirteen Moogles on the 31st, and they will explain the legends to characters if they ask.

Hopefully all this talk of curse and King Moggle Mog is nothing more than legend.

The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
There are a lot of things left to do in the city, especially with everyone excited for the upcoming celebration. Starting from 18:00, a series of BLitzball games will take place at the stadium located in the tenth district, opposing amateur teams in a friendly competition. At the same time, a small group of Triple Triad players are playing before Mognet Office in the ninth district, and they are more than happy to teach the rule to anyone passing by. Characters are free to enter and play games of Triple Triad, and if they do so they will be given very basic cards and explained the rules. This may be the start of a promising career!

Characters are also free to visit the city-- Be it Mognet Office just behind the Triple Triad games is filled with very busy Moogles, or the Airship Port in the twelfth district from where characters can board for free Airships from Shoopuf Airline, knowing the next airship departing from Aqures Ixen will do so on the 9th. Still, characters can board an exposition Airship should they like and visit it.

Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate. Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.

Yeul's smile grew at Caius's touch. Her eyes closed for a moment as she focused on the warmth of his hand. She was happy that he was here but she was still unnerved at the current events. There was so much that she didn't understand and the distance between them felt to large.

She remembered her own death, not from a vision but feeling it happen and then waking up here. She shouldn't be alive. Her hand moved to rest over her chest as she tried to unravel her own questions but she was only left with more.

Yeul knew when Caius was lost in his thoughts and waited for her guardian to speak. His question made her pause. She felt like the connection was lost but she worked to control her fears. Her powers were gone, did he not know? What would he do when he found out?

"No." Her voice was softer than usual as her own expression remained static.

He could feel her lean into his touch and then with a nod, as if he understood what she meant, he retracted his hand slowly and rose to stand. "Come."

If anything, her lack of vision of this place must mean that they are removed from the very force that was ripping them apart piece by painful piece. By his will alone, he managed to stay in one solid form while his soul was melting away to give in to the fal'Cie heart that once pulsed in his chest. To have that removed was almost enough to make him laugh not out of mirth, but rather out of relief.

He refrained from that emotion and decided that investigating was in order. Her response to his question was enough for him to believe in her. Her tone said all he needed to hear. With his own powers gone, he was certain that hers were gone as well and it was just one more reason to be more vigilant.

"We cannot stay here. We must move." Mogamut said nothing as he watched the scene between them and quickly his mind was set on his primary task; to protect Yeul.

Yeul nodded and fell in step next to Caius. She couldn't walk as fast as him and was happy that he always slowed his pace for her.

She wasn't sure which way to go or what to do first, her blindness was more unsettling the more she thought about it. She hadn't realized how much she had relied on her powers to guide her actions. Even though she was instructed not to interfere with the timeline.

No matter what happened as long as she was with Caius she knew she would be fine.

Hibiscus was curious about her hero and was watching the two with great interest. She didn't speak much but preferred to instead listen to the happenings around her. Compared to some of the noisier hero's she found that she liked this child and was interested in seeing how things unfolded.

There had been times that he carried her on long journeys to prevent her from suffering exhaustion. Her slow pace didn't bother him in the least and it was one of the most identifying conditions that he often had with each incarnation. He felt complete with her near even though his own blindness was equally unsettling. He had to recall from memory and stopped just beyond the fountain while he thought on what they could possibly need. Mostly, he ran with what he was given but to be in a town that didn't chase him out on sight was certainly strange.

"Have you eaten yet?" To Caius, it was something that he didn't need to worry about and most of the time he could just sense when she needed the basic needs to be met. In this case, he had to ask.

Clothing, shoes, and shelter were the other needs that had to be met. Mogamut was quick to add, "You're assigned houses, kupo! Hibiscus? What house does your hero have? My hero has A-thirteen, kupo."

The conversations between the moogles behind him only added to his uncertainty. Housing? He hadn't lived in a proper house since Paddra and that was so long in the past he was certain that he wouldn't handle confinement so well. He was used to sleeping under the open sky, but never in a stationary location.

Yeul shook her head. "I have not." Food had never really crossed her mind, after waking up she had focused on finding Caius. There were so many things here that she wasn't used too and it would take time for her to adjust.

Hibiscus was quick to answer. "She is assigned to B three." The moogle had taken the liberty to find out as much as she could before her hero had arrived. "It looks like she has a house mate, as well, kupo." She wasn't sure if she should mention who that roommate was, so for the moment she stayed silent.

"Mine too, kupo!" Mogamut responded almost a bit too happily. Caius wasn't paying much attention to the conversation behind him and focused his attention on Yeul instead. He lifted his head to look around and noticed a small stand just beyond the fountain's circular pathway. It seemed simple enough offering grilled meats and vegetables on skewers. It was easy to carry and often something he made when they were traveling.

At least that was a comfort even if it was a small little piece of home. He moved toward the vendor who almost looked a little scared and gave four skewers without asking for payment. Caius was a bit confused at first and thought the man was simply gawking. It was a reaction he had seen before numerous times and eventually the confusion wore off to give in to his more "social" side, if it could be called as such.

"Will you not accept payment?" At least Caius had his honor. Such things often didn't come cheap. It takes time to prepare even the simplest meals but the man just stood there staring.

After a moment, he pulled out five Gil from his hidden purse under his breastplate and left it on the counter with a sigh. If he were to live here, he could at least be civil. He returned to Yeul and handed her two of the skewers, one for each hand.

She took the two skewers happily and her stomach rumbled at their delicious smell. Yeul eagerly took a bit from one, letting the meats juices fill her mouth. The spices were a little unusual but the texture was what she was used to.

Her focus was on her food as her mind wandered. She knew the reaction that Caius often got from strangers and she had wished that it wouldn't be the case here. If they had to, they could always live outside of the city.

"This seems unfortunate." Hibiscus was realizing that she might be spending a lot of time around Mogamut and let out a heavy sigh. He was a little too energetic for her tastes but it was obvious that these two heroes were close.

Mogamut's true personality began to show and he growled as menacingly as a moogle could. "What's that supposed to mean, kupo? I have the strongest hero around!" His little grey body puffed up and Caius was quick to reprimand.

"Regardless, it is not your concern. No matter where Yeul stays, I will follow. You are only in employ through you superiors. I do not need you." Caius hadn't touched his skewer yet, since he found that it was better to nip the problem in the bud before it grew too great to handle.

Mogamut quickly lost his bluster and his little shoulders sank. "I'm sorry, kupo."

The moogle was quick to apologize. He tried to assert himself as a minion instead of an assistant which bothered Caius.

Hibiscus turned towards Caius with a nod. "The A houses were built for only two people, however the B houses have room for three. If you wish to follow her then you will have the room to do so." She didn't want to argue with the heroes, she was there for Yeul and would help those who had a similar mission in mind.

Yeul watched in silence as she ate. She would like to see the house that she had been assigned but she would also rather stay with Caius. Her sudden change in powers made her uneasy and she wasn't ready to be alone.

Caius was in the same mindset and even worse, he was certainly outmatched but he wasn't about to let others take him down and forget ever getting close to Yeul. He would fight tooth and nail to keep her safe.

He felt equally as uneasy but hadn't shown any weakness other than his lack of sense beyond his line of sight or what his other senses could tell him. He took his place next to Yeul and quietly ate with her. His eyes stayed focused and sharp on the passing crowd that seemed to avoid them which was exactly his intended reaction.

Yeul looked up at Caius with a small smile. She had thought that her death was near but now things have changed. She was a little happy that she had this time with Caius, even if she didn't know how long it would last.

She finished her first skewer and set the empty stick to the side. She silently ate the second watching the people around them as they walked. Hibi flew over and sat next to Yeul with a sigh.
