Re: Monkey D. Luffy - Passive

[All that Mary sees in that moment is, in a word, amazing. She knew the kid was bold and had a good heart, but when he cried out that he would be king of the pirates she absolutely believed him. His idea of a pirate may be different than what she was used to, but she was sure Blackbeard would be proud of the grand show that Luffy put on. If you're going to win the world, then you need to be larger than life.

The sequence of events after he breaks free was one that she'll have to revisit later. It was so fast and so powerful that she could scarcely trust what she saw, but as the dust clears and she doesn't see Luffy on his feet anymore she pushes that aside.

She rushes to where Luffy has fallen, pausing for a moment as she sees the state he's in but then drops to her knees and places a hand on his shoulder. After all that he can't simply die now. And not in a fake place like this.

Come on Captain Luffy. Now's not the time to drop anchor. There'll be enough time for that when we all get home.

[Which way is the way home is still a question, but not an important one. Clearly not for someone like him. If he's unconscious then she'll carry him, but right now she needs to know he's not on his last breaths.]
