Event || In Your Worst Memory

Characters: All Heroes of Light. Only those who signed-up can start a memory.
Where: Interdimensional Rift
When: May 27th - May 30th
Summary: The Heroes of Light relive some of their worst memories, with a twist. All characters participating in this will be physically missing from Crystallis for the duration of the event.
Warning: It depends on the memory.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Everything around you freezes, nearly as if time itself stopped, as if the world was frozen in time. And before you have a chance to understand what is happening, you can hear a voice right behind you.

"Kali Shashidhwaja."

Should you turn around, you may see a child who seems to be the only one aside from you unaffected by what is happening. And as she stares right at you, it makes no doubt these strange words are aimed at you. But before you can reply to her, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you know it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, Crystallis vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see.

And once again you feel different: all the powers from your Jobs are fading. Not only that, but you might find that your Crystal is gone and your clothes back to what they were before you woke up in Crystallis. It is silent, cold and before long it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you... And yet, slowly the world reforms around you. The darkness fades away and a new world appears, yet at the same time this is not a world.

This is a memory. The question is, is it yours or that of someone else?

[Teeth clench as the words struggle to come to the tip of tongue. Luffy knows very well the reason for why he sails, why he continues to fight on when so much of the world he now knows gives their vein attempts in trying to dissuade him. Eyes narrow while still growing wide and white, the bloodshot vision of his orbs straining to remain open as they watch the Baron with the full extent of aggression and anger that his body can muster.

A long drawn breath comes from his lungs, taking hold of what dust and air is available to them despite the pain that comes from breathing. It comes out in a sudden rush of words, a string of promises explained to the un-sympathetic Baron that stands in front of him.]

I PROMISED... I PROMISE THAT ONE DAY I WOULD BECOME THE KING OF THE PIRATES! IT ISN'T A PROMISE FOR FAME.. IT ISN'T A PROMISE FOR GLORY..

[With a single pull of his limbs, the once weak Pirate frees himself with a sudden surge of energy. Every vein in his body courses with the purpose now laid before him, the promise spoken of, and the resolve to see that the man who insults the wisdom of his crew, his family, be laid upon the mountain like a bad habit.]

IT'S A PROMISE TO LIVE! I'M GOING TO LIVE! I'M GOING TO FIGHT! I'M GOING TO SMILE AND LAUGH, AND I'M GOING TO TAKE THEM WITH ME SO WE CAN LIVE TOGETHER LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW!

[The swing of both arms come around like the cutting of dual scythes, cutting through the air and slicing the heavy atmosphere in two. The power of his swing lurches him forward while the Baron tries to retreat, stumbling over his own footing as he tries to shoot the approaching lad with as many arrows as he can summon.

The motion put behind his wild punches pulls Luffy off of the rock, his feet still impaled by the remains of the arrows which once held him down. Every bit of movement brings with it an overwhelming amount of pain that is seemingly ignored as Luffy lands flat-footed on the ground at least a yard away from the Baron.]

YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE, KID! SAY "GOODNIGHT"!

[The single arrow comes hurling towards the height of the one known as "Straw Hat Luffy", coursing over the landscape with a whistle as it darts towards Luffy's chest. The flick of an arm ceases the journey of the shot, grasping it out of the air and moving with its momentum to see it spun around and splintered with a single squeeze. Luffy's face doesn't change or shift, still looking toward the Baron with gritted teeth and furrowed brow.

A single step launches him forward, hips and the natural reaction of muscles performing at the height of their ability to chamber what would be the final burst. The distance closes within a matter of miliseconds, the plucky pirate landing almost on top of the Baron as the cocked fist comes down in an angle to find the resting place for which the mold of his knuckles is to be set. The impact creates a small shake, enough dissonance in the air to make the ground itself shake from the strength in which Luffy strikes the Baron. The whole world almost goes white from the hit, Luffy's mouth hanging open as a shattering cry of anger leaves his chest with everything inside of his will and determination is transferred in one last "hail mary" punch.

The Baron flies, his trajectory a zig-zag pattern as his body ricochets off of the many rocks and large boulders that he bounces off of. There's almost a mile now between them as Luffy himself lands upon the ground with his face, his legs and the rest of his body following suit after a few moments of suspending in the air. The tyrant that had subjected him to the fate of loss was now no more, safe for the dragged breaths that his impacted face struggles to take in. There's little more than smoke that stirs around the spot where Luffy now rests, shallow gasps leaving his chest while he remains motionless upon the ground.]

[All that Mary sees in that moment is, in a word, amazing. She knew the kid was bold and had a good heart, but when he cried out that he would be king of the pirates she absolutely believed him. His idea of a pirate may be different than what she was used to, but she was sure Blackbeard would be proud of the grand show that Luffy put on. If you're going to win the world, then you need to be larger than life.

The sequence of events after he breaks free was one that she'll have to revisit later. It was so fast and so powerful that she could scarcely trust what she saw, but as the dust clears and she doesn't see Luffy on his feet anymore she pushes that aside.

She rushes to where Luffy has fallen, pausing for a moment as she sees the state he's in but then drops to her knees and places a hand on his shoulder. After all that he can't simply die now. And not in a fake place like this.
]

Come on Captain Luffy. Now's not the time to drop anchor. There'll be enough time for that when we all get home.

[Which way is the way home is still a question, but not an important one. Clearly not for someone like him. If he's unconscious then she'll carry him, but right now she needs to know he's not on his last breaths.]
