A Hunt Most Heroic Indeed /s
Characters: Ashelia, Olivier, Fayt, Fai, Allenby, Daisy; if I missed your character, it's because they didn't respond to Ashelia's letter. THAT'S FINE, just plurk me or something, no biggie
Where: Aqures Ixen, South Gate; then, the Calm Plains
When: June 12th (backdated)
Summary: The hunt for a wyvern to help complete the monster arena subquest.
Warnings: Violence
Setting Out
Ashelia waited by Aqures Ixen's southernmost gate, in her usual red mage battle gear; red peasant blouse, black mini skirt and black thigh-high boots, the red mage's cap set at a jaunty angle on her head. For such a short woman, her presence made her seem much taller - and able to pull off such an ensemble.
She held the reins of her tall yellow chocobo, Sydney, petting it gently as she awaited the arrival of the other Heroes. It felt good to leave the city again. It had been so long since she'd seen the open road, and even if this was just a hunt for a specific beast and she would be back at the Observatory by nightfall, it was just the beginning. She frowned slightly - she would have rather been off to explore Stiltzkin's Castle, but this was a good first step to see how she felt about leaving the Observatory in Zelda's hands. Part of her felt bad - did she trust Zelda to take care of everything? She did, but there was still that nagging feeling at the back of her mind...
She means well, but she is not powerful enough. If you could find it somewhere, in this world, you could...
Ashelia shook her head. Not the time. First things first: there was a wyvern to be hunted.

She means well, but she is not powerful enough. If you could find it somewhere, in this world, you could...
Ashelia shook her head. Not the time. First things first: there was a wyvern to be hunted.
The Hunt
"It approaches!" Ashelia called out, squinting at the flying creature against the glare of the sun. "Form up, everyone. Keep your shields up, and stay behind the warrior classes. Take no undue risks, and aim to subdue, not to kill. The Monster Arena needs this creature alive."
Her breath caught in her throat as the wyvern reared up for a dive. "It comes!" She gave Sydney a couple kicks, running out of the way of the quickly descending beast.

She barely has time to throw herself out of the path of the fire before she gets back on her feet.

Right at the first line, Daisy swung her gunblade in position and crouched akin to a colonial markswoman to fire rounds of thunder against the creature, seven feet tall silhouette flickering with every electric shot made -- and hopefully disrupt its nervous system as the creature served as an antenna while in the air.
"Aim for the wings! Take out it's ability to move if we're to capture it!"

"I see I'm not the only one to know about the wing thing. Be careful though, it would still be powerful even after you manage to do that."

Though it appeared to be a meaningless gesture, Allenby makes few swings of a treasure chest by the handle before throwing it hard at the Wyvern. In mid-air the box opens up, sprouting arms and legs and opening it's disgusting mouth wide.
"Bring it down!" she shouts, hoping that another creature on it's back will help them bring the flying monster down.

He darts back after that, as quickly as his heavier armor would allow. "And it'll still have it's breath once it's on the ground. Keep your distance if you can!"

Seeing as no one was injured as yet by the beast, Ashelia turned her efforts towards offense. She brought her sword hand to her chest, feeling the magic well up within her. After a moment, the feather in her hat bobbing in the artificial breeze brought on by the casting, she pointed her sword at the wyvern. A green spark of energy darted its way toward the creature, hitting it square in the chest - a direct hit. The beast roared as it fell out of the air, the onslaught of attacks too much to keep airborne.
However, Ashe wasn't done. The magical wind from her Bio spell picked up considerably - it was a wonder her red mage cap didn't fly off her head. A crest appeared beneath her, rotating around as the magic worked its way through first the caster and then outwards, through the crest's intricate design. "Get back, everyone!" the queen called out.
There was just enough time too, as the summoning was about complete. "Lady of Ice, heed my call! Diamond Dust!"
Shiva appeared a moment later in a flash of light. The surrounding area was immediately bathed in sub-zero temperature; Ashelia breathed out steam as she watched the eidolon do its work.
As the floating woman raised her arms, stalagmites of ice erupted from underneath the wyvern, tearing at its feet and belly. The creature tried to kick off and take to the air again, but it was stuck. After a moment, Shiva extended one arm in front of her and with a snap, the ice shattered, the shrapnel ripping into the wyvern. It screeched in pain, but with a powerful flap of its wings, was back in the air again. However, its feet were almost completely ruined, bloody and unrecognizable. Though the creature still had its wings, it would be able to stand no longer.

She still wasn't comfortable with the gunblade, but ranged attacks were needed right now, so she seathes her favored sword and draws the gunblade. The monster seemed to have a distate for ice, so she takes a moment to aim for its wings, then lets the shot fly.
She grimaces as the ice bullet strikes the web of the wing instead of the bone, but the wyvern is clearly injured as it dips and struggles to regain altitude.
