#11 | Everything will be alright
Characters: Sephiroth (Open/Closed as sub-comments)
Where/When: 19th June; Aqures Ixen, 21st June; Esdham
Summary: Having returned from Crystal Stasis, there is a lot to touch base with. As prompted in the sub-comments.
Warnings: N/A (Yet? Will update as needed)
Prologue
Sephiroth had come home from the hospital only briefly the previous day. Without even much of a glance around for his housemates he'd crossed the familiar threshold feeling an odd sort of deja vu that could only be compared to when one went away for an extended vacation and then returned back to their more permanent abode.
But really, he knew he hadn't been anywhere, even if his body were still adjusting as if he had been returned from Gaia once more. Exactly like when he had first arrived in Aqures; movement felt sluggish, awareness was blunted. It seemed even breathing seemed to take more effort. Having experienced a 'drop' from mako on previous occasions, though, as well as following some advise from the nurses at the hospital too Sephiroth knew that soon the haze which he currently perceived as a great weakness would lift as if it had never been there. Just as that tell-tale gleam would again fade form his eyes.
He'd confiscated the bathroom and then, looping his long silver hair -restored in thickness and length- up and around in a loose knot he'd headed out again for the Military Airport where he knew there was work to be done; leaving his leather coat hung on the back of the wardrobe door, the pants neatly folded on the end of his bed and the SOLDIER motif of his belt set atop it as if it were some sort of ritual.
It had been into the early hours of the next morning before Sephiroth had retired home again.

“But it seems… that I’m the only one that remembers any of it. So it’s all right that you don’t remember. It… might be better that way, even.” Although Yuna’s feelings had always led her to believe that keeping her memories, be they good or bad, was one of the most important things… well, if it gave them a second chance then maybe it wasn’t so bad…
“And I think that… because of that, I misjudged you. So for that – I’m sorry.”

Was this another story of him losing his mind, of him being the villain in someone else's story as well - to which end he had no comprehension at all. It certainly seemed to be what she were getting at. Why else make the comment about being misjudged?
"I see." He swallowed and tore his gaze from her so as not to appear rude even if a small part of him wanted nothing more than to grip and claw at Yuna until she told him everything she knew of him from in her reality.
"There seems to be a great deal of weight in that which I don't remember, in a lot of cases, to a lot of people. Or that which I just don't know for sure yet. You wouldn't be the first to pin me as a villain."
He let out a breath that he hadn't realized he'd been holding in a great huff, thoughts easily cast back to that which he'd spent a great deal trying to understand when he'd remained in the hospital after his return from stasis. There was a lot more to what Yuna was implying and it hadn't had all that much time to settle just yet.

Yuna looked down, her eyes closing briefly as she made another attempt to gather the thoughts that threatened to come spilling out. "What I mean to say is... I don't think you're a villain at all."
Her uneven eyes rose, soft and trying to understand forces that were beyond her grasp, and his too. "There are still many thins I don't know about that world, or how any of us were chosen, but -- I know that you're a good person. One that tries hard for the sake of others, and who doesn't give up." With a marked pause, she tilted her head just slightly to the side, as though to make an attempt to catch his gaze again. "I don't know what happened in your past, or what might happen in your future but... what I do know is the you of this time. And that person... is someone that has lived up to the title of hero."

It hadn't been what he'd expected and at first he wasn't sure if to believe her or not, knowing what he suspected now and only hoped wasn't true in Genesis' words that rang in the awakened memory he had returned with. There was, ultimately, no way to really know for sure now; the answers remained out of his reach on Gaia...at least for the time being.
Sephiroth caught Yuna's gaze easily when she sought his out again and a warm swell blossomed out from somewhere in his gut. Something prideful yet partly egotistical. Of course he was a hero; it's all he's ever known. It was as if Yuna pulled at that fact within him and drew it out on top of all the other concerns going on in his over-active thought processes. For just that moment, they didn't matter so much.
For a long moment, he was stunned - completely at a loss for words while he continued to inspect her mis-matched eyes. A slow breath exhaled and soon followed the only words he could say-
"Thank you-" His tone was the epitome of sincere as he too tilted his head just fractionally to the side. One of the bangs to his hairstyle falling away from his cheek as he did so. "-for saying so."

"A lot of people here believe in you," she continued, "I know I'm not the only one. So please... if nothing else, remember that."
Looking down again, she shook her head, "I'm sorry, I'm sure that hearing all of this from someone that claims to have known you from another time must be strange but I... wanted you to know." She was happy, actually, that she had waited so long to tell him -- now that she had had the chance to shape her own opinions of the tall man that stood before her.

That he was still a Hero, and more importantly, that others believed so too. Yuna wasn't close enough to him, personally, for him to be able to take such a comment lightly; he simply couldn't allow himself to ignore what she were saying.
"It is a little strange, yes." He chuckled dryly, in an attempt to lighten the mood, an odd tingling rising at the back of his neck -his pride; as new life was breathed into it. "This world does seem to like to throw anything it can at us, to un-root that faith."
