Sparks folded his arms and raised an eyebrow. At least if he reminded her of someone, it sounded like it wasn't someone totally bad. He thinks.

He mulls over this idea for a moment, and then nods.

"Yeah, okay. I can get behind this idea. We need every possible advantage we can get on the Empire. Though it'll be really dangerous, reckon I don't need to tell someone like you that.

'N of course ya can count on me. I'm the marshal, after all. ...Well, police inspector. Whatever. You know what I mean."

"That's what I thought you'd say." Part of her hopes that Sparks and Mustang never meet. At least Sparks isn't even half as annoying as Mustang. "So, are you sure these chocobos are onery, I've heard other heroes say there aren't half bad? Maybe you're just spoiled by your rocket steed."

"I'm not spoiled." He totally is. But he also had a bad encounter with his first chocobo, which he had since given away after getting Mercury.

"They're ornery, all right. And kinda smelly.. The one I caught dragged me all over the forest. You woulda thought I was attempting to arrest him with how bad he was tryin' to shake me off. But considering they're the main means of travel in these parts that ain't an airship, ya don't have much of a choice."

She cracks a smile as she tries to oneof the bird like creatures dragging him about. "You must have offended it somehow. What did you do, attack it first?"

She mostly joking, but also wants to know if it really was something he did which made the chocobo angry at him.

Sparks squares his shoulders, and puts his hands on his hips.

"More like it offended me. I didn't attack it, I lassoed it. With precision, I might add. Once I finally managed to wrangle it, it never stopped peckin' at my head."

He realizes this isn't too many points in his favor, and looks unsure after a moment before trying to defend himself.

"I mean, how else do ya catch yerself one of these things?"

"Did you even try to form a bond before you lassoed it? Trust is the best way to form a bond with a beast. Give it some food, let it get acquainted with you." She pauses a moment to pull something out of her pocket. "Alexandria gave me this curiel root to feed the chocobo before trying to ride it."

Sparks looks at the root, frowning in thought. He can just imagine his own moogle, Red, watching the whole debacle from a tree and snickering like mad.

"I... was not aware of these things.

It's all moot now anyway. I got Mercury here, who's better than the best, least-smelly chocobo on this planet."

She nods.

"Well, I don't imagine these chocobos fly, so Mercury does seem like a much better alternative." Although, she's not quite sure she'd want to fly on on a horse or a chocobo if they could fly. Airships were still new to her. She wraps the curiel root back up and puts it in her pocket as they get closer to the stables. She doesn't want any chocobos in the pen to rush at her.

"I suppose I should go see what they have available. Let me know if any of them look like the one you tried using, so I can avoid it."
