Well... I still wanna know.


[She blurts that out without missing a beat, before a sudden realization dawns.]

Oh! I was right! That was you in that dream.

Of course it was. Or rather, who I was before.

[She smiled and finally turned to her.]

What is it that we need? A world free of life and death, of the hurt and scare you seem to despise to much.

[Ib frowns. Grown-ups can be so weird...]

Maybe you could get rid of all the fear and stuff that way, but that would also get rid of all the happiness and friendship and everything else good.

[It would also get rid of everyone she cares about.]

Of course it would.

[She nodded]

But something else would be born. Something beyond our comprehension. You died because you believed in this vision.

How do you know?

[She doesn't bother pointing that the Ib from the dream was a different girl. One who hadn't made it out of the gallery. One who couldn't protect Garry.]

I have seen it, twenty-eight years ago.

[her_rose_is_red]

[That.... makes no sense to her. If this has already happened, and she's still trying to do this, then it couldn't have worked that time. Unless.... maybe she only saw it.]

Did... did it already happen? Or... do you mean you saw it in a dream or something like that?

[ Kalki doesn't seem willing to reply to this question. Instead, she replies with an affirmation. ]

You will see it as well, very soon now.

Just.... quietly continues the mini-Gandalf joke.

[Ib sighs. For now, she'll assume it was a vision. It makes more sense than Kalki still trying to do something she already did.]

If it was a dream, or a vision, then how do you know it was real?

[Especially if she doesn't know the source. They are not all accounted for, the lost seeing stones. And we do not know who else may be watching.]

I do. Like you, I questioned it, I tried to pretend it couldn't be real, but...

[She tilted down her head. She didn't seem willing to answer any more question of Ib the Gray's question, at least for now.]

fffff Ib the Gray! I will be giggling about that for weeks. ^___^

[Ib is quiet for a moment. It's clear that whatever Kalki saw, it weighed on her heavily. Drove her to this... desperate plan. But it still feels to Ib like she's giving up. Giving up on herself, on the other heroes, on everything. And no matter what, Ib can't accept that kind of thinking.]

I still.... don't think you're a bad person. But I do think you're doing bad things.

[Tell me, friend, when did Kalki the Wise abandon reason for madness?!? Ib steels her expression, but there is a hint of sympathy there. She really had wanted to be on the same side, but just killing everyone is too far no matter how you look at it.

There has to be another way. A better way. They just need to find it.]

And no matter what, I'm not giving up on my friends, or this world.

....Or myself.

[She turned back to the Crystal upon hearing Ib's words, but said one more thing.]

Maybe if I fail, in the next cycle you may be a better Kalki than I am.

[Kalki will not reply further question from this point on.]

A better.... Kalki?

[She echoes that strange statement in confusion. But when it becomes clear that Kalki isn't going to clarify, Ib sighs.]

[The farewell is more politeness than anything else. Ib turns to leave. She feels like she learned a lot from this conversation, but isn't sure what to do with any of it. But thats okay, her friends can help her sort it out.]
