The Cat Burglar's Tricks and Treats

Characters: OPEN to all!
Where: Many places in Aqures Ixen
When: October 12th ~
Summary: Yuffie has stolen from the heroes, this is their chance to get their things back.
Warning: N/A

Yuffie was expecting the heroes to flock together once they discovered their things missing. That or run around like a chicken with their head cut off. Either way it would prove interesting. She had stashed the loot around the city like she said but each item was accompanied by a set of colorful traps as well.

The great thief stood watching the city below with a mischievous smile. She held a camera lightly in her hand as she mentally checked through each trap. She assumed that Zack and Sephiroth knew it was her who had sent the letter and would first go to her house to find her. She only had guesses for where the others might look.

Yuffie ran through the town giggling as the cold october air brushed past her. She wore her cloak with the hood pulled up over her head, giving her the veneer of a cat burglar. It was boring to sit around and wait for everyone to find their things so she went searching for her victims. There might be a trick or two she could play.

Maybe the Planet is sleeping. Maybe it is us that grew too vague for her. Who knows?

[it's very hard to know what the really reason is, though he thinks it might have to do with the way humans are now, especially with ShinRa trying to find the Promised Land.]

[He had stormed out of the house in a tempest of anger after he had cleaned up after Yuffie's trap - not wanting to be anywhere near where the small ninja might be, and knowing he needed to clear his head. Sephiroth's anger was not so easily ignited but Yuffie had managed to tip the balance of his patience now.

So much for that clear head, hearing an all-too familiar voice as he opened the front door very nearly stoked it all back afresh. What was that man doing here!]

The wandering soul knows no rest. [He spoke, alongside Genesis, finally slipping into view leaning against the door frame into the lounge - arms sternly folded.]

What do you want, Genesis?

[She lets out a loud whelp and moves behind Genesis. She realizes that he isn't even addressing her but the moment from that morning is still clear in her mind.

Yuffie's eyes look over Genesis's shoulder at her not so happy roommate. She really wasn't expecting him to be home and had nothing to say to him. It at least looks like he got all the blue out of his hair.]

I came to get my book back and Yuffie asked to know what it was about.

[he doesn't move from his spot and he let's Yuffie hide behind him. he might be a sight sitting on the floor with his book open and looking as at ease he could be with an annoyed Sephiroth nearby.]

So I started to read to her.

[Most of the blue, Yuffie. If the light was more behind him there are a few strands it still clings to and more than a bit of it traces through his eyebrows still. It's going to take a few more washes to get it all out.

Sephiroth tries not to glare at Yuffie so instead levels his wrathful gaze at Genesis. The man deserves it just as much. Them sitting on the floor gives him the literal upper-hand.]

She wouldn't understand it. [My, if that's not almost the most poisonous he's ever sounded.] You need to leave now.

[Yuffie stands with her hands on her hips.]

Says who, besides I thought this was my house too. So I can have people over and I want him here.

[Her confidence is only going to last so long before she continues to hide behind Gen. The light tint of blue made her want to giggle but she decided that would be a horrible idea. She wouldn't admit it but she is still a little intimidated by Sephiroth's earlier anger, which obviously hadn't gone away.]

[ Genesis is not affected by the glares at all. If body language was any indication, he was actually pretty relaxed sitting on the floor with a young ninja princess standing up behind him.]

Are you so sure? People do surprise you after all. [ ~~There, there LOVELESS, Sephiroth is jealous that he doesn't understand you at all.~~ Genesis sighs and shifts to stretch out his legs. ] And she is correct. As it being also her house, she can invite who she wishes to visit.

[Just a little while of having that intimidating stare turned in her direction is hopefully enough to make her hide back down behind Genesis. His anger isn't anywhere near as explosive as it was when she had managed to get him with a trap but it's clearly still there simmering away.

Genesis sitting there look so damn relaxed about it all wasn't helping at all. How dare he make such a nod towards Sephiroth's own isolated upbringing, and with company present. Though half a beat later that control catches up; Sephiroth knew much better than to let Genesis goad at him so easily. Though oddly, something of the familiarity in the red head helps him reel his outrage at the small ninja back in once more.]

Now is not a good time. I've no idea how many traps she's rigged the place with.

[Yuffie blinks a few times and then tilts her head to the side. She had fallen asleep before setting up traps anywhere else, which after the trap with Sephiroth she considered pure luck.]

The only traps are in my room.

[She absently points up the stairs, completely forgetting about the tension in the room.]

Why would she trap the living space in any case? Would that not cause her problems as well?

[ You really just do not want him any where around, now do you Sephiroth? Genesis would have laughed if he did come across a trap - he doubted any of them would be that harmful, but he was also a bit more willing to get pranked than his former silver-haired friend. ]

I take it he walked into one of them?

[The nonchalant shrug that Sephiroth delivered Genesis was entirely to indicate the way that Yuffie seemed to be most unstable; as if she were crazy. For a moment there, it had sounded as if she were in another situation entirely - or even on another planet as the two of them.

No, he doesn't want you randomly being in his home when he comes in. Especially today, specifically. Pranks do not sit well on his mood at all; even the lightest jobs between friends had always been delicately executed. And Yuffie is not a friend.]

That's really not the point. Yuffie-

[He turns his attention directly back to the small ninja.]

Enough of the games. I want my materia. Now.

[Yuffie digs into her pocket and drops three shining balls on the floor. She had found out earlier that day that she can't take anything home with her so she feels no need to hang on to them. Except that she keeps one safely tucked away in her pocket.]

There.

[She thought the two of them were friends or something but there is more tension in the room than usual. The little ninja finds it interesting.]

Can't he stay?

I can stay if you wish me to stay.

[ Genesis raised his eyebrows at the materia and then laughs quietly again. So the little ninja had borrowed Sephiroth's materia? Even though it was useless here, it was still something that all SOLDIERs did not like just giving away, especially the Mastered ones. ]

The point that dear Sephiroth wants to make with me is how he feels I betrayed matters when I decided that ShinRa was nothing more than a lie... as well as what we thought our lives were to them.

[It's not as if the materia even works in Crystallis, he'd just arrived with it on his person and so had gone into the bottom drawer of his dresser. Which Yuffie had ruthlessly gone through; the invasion of privacy itself is worse than the fact she had stolen anything.

He looks with a slightly raised eyebrow from the materia on the floor, to Yuffie and then to Genesis and back a few times. He locked eye contact with his former friend at that last comment and his expression darkened considerably.]

I am not discussing this with you.

[In present company; a Wutain princess who would no doubt enjoy any notion of instability within SOLDIER - hardly the impression he wants to give off. Sephiroth steps around where Genesis is sat and starts collecting the materia from the floor. He shot a questioning glance to Yuffie.]

Is that all of it?

Yeah... I think. I stole materia from Zack too, so I need to check...

[She wouldn't deny that she is curious about Gen and Sephiroths relationship. She thought if she stays quiet and out of the way that she might get a glimpse into the armour that both SOLDIERS wore.

Yuffie lightly scratches at her cheek before moving to sit on the couch. She doesn't really like sitting on the floor with others around.]

You never are going to. Stubborn.

[ And since he was being abandoned, Genesis stood up, closing his book and tucking it away inside of his jacket. He probably should leave and he probably won't because it was the right thing to do.

Besides, he wasn't going to abandon Yuffie to the moods of his former friend.

So he sits down next to her. ]

There will come a time when the matter will need airing.

[The longer gaze that he captures Yuffie in is an order without having to speak it; she had better find out as he is more than sure he wasn't only missing three of the magical orbs. Quite rightly, he expects she is hoping for exactly that - a glimpse inside the complicated relationship, and Sephiroth is very steadfast in his reluctance not to give anything away. It's not that hard, only Genesis and Angeal really knew him at all, to others he is an impregnable enigma who bleeds the fact that he should be respected.

As such he watches Genesis carefully but without much emotion other than caution allowing to show outwardly while he gets to his feet. He will not talk to such matters even if Yuffie wasn't there, the last time he had tried Genesis had twisted the knife of betrayal even further and -though it hurt still- he's learned from that mistake.]

Perhaps. [Flat tone, only giving Genesis that small inch of a possibility.]

[He straightens himself up, tucking the materia away in a pocket. A flick of a silver bang dismissed out of his eyes in the next motion.] There is nothing left to be said.

[He blinks, drops his expression into a near-frown, and looks directly at Yuffie.] I thought we had conceded to be civil, at least. Please do not enter my room again.

[And then he turns to leave the room. He had trusted her to respect his space like he did hers, and she has bruised that trust. Sephiroth never forgets.]

To be fair I did that before we talked.

[She has no plans to enter his room again. She has seen all she needs too and it isn't a very interesting room anyway.

Yuffie pouts before turning back to Gen. She was happy that he moved to sit next to her on the couch, mostly because it is softer than the floor and she likes sitting next to him.]

I thought you two were friends or something...

There never is. [ Genesis drawled the words, brushing his hair from his eyes with a slight huff as if he wanted to add more but was refraining. Again he wondered just how much further he was along the path than Sephiroth and how much his former friend had learned during his absence from the company.

It sounded like he really hadn't found out much. ]

We had a disagreement.

I think that is easy with him.

[Granted, Yuffie isn't the easiest to get alone with. All of her and Sephiroths interactions usually ended or started with a fight.]

But you used to be friends?

Yes, we were friends. We did fight a little over some things, but I think all friends could say that at one point or another.

[Oh he could relate a little. Genesis was not the most stable of people to be friends with, considering just how much drama he liked in his life.]

Well, he wasn't acting like he was your friend anymore.

[She points to him with a flat expression. She really wants to know more but she also knows that Gen won't tell her if he doesn't want too.]

Ahh, yes. Remember that I said I oppose ShinRa and all it embraces? He still supports them.

[He probably would explain it further if really poked about it, but he also felt that she didn't need to learn about all the dirty secrets of the three SOLDIER 1sts.]

[The young ninja let out a strange whelp as she tried to get her thoughts in order. She looks back up at Gen and then shifts to rest her head on his shoulder.]

If he doesn't see then ShinRa will hurt him too. [It is a rare moment where Yuffie isn't just thinking about herself but it quickly passes. She bounces back up with a grin.]

He'll see. Anyway, what were we doing before we were so rudely interrupted?

They did, little princess... they did.

[ oh how he regretted what will occur to Sephiroth. in part, it had to do what he drove his friend towards, that he knew on one level that the knowledge would push him over the edge. but at the same time, he couldn't help but laugh. ]

I believe we were at the first chapter, where the Heroes learn of the Goddess' Gift.
