4th Sparkle

Who: Olivier, Daisy, Vincent, Sparks, Ashelia, & Open
What: Helping Around Town &  Plans for the submarine.
Where: A-11
When: August 27th
Warnings: None

[Morning: Outside of Town]

Since they came back from Aqures Tosf, Olivier has been spending most of her mornings and nights patrolling the perimeter of Aqures Ixen. It's not that she doesn't trust the military or law enforcement, but she knows the forces are spread a bit thin at the moment. This morning she can be found standing atop a small hill looking out across the plains.

[Day: Around Town]

Now that she has mastered how to use her motorbike, Olivier has been spending her days helping transport materials from one end of town to another. When she sees a house being worked on, she will stop to make sure they have everything they need. Including enough hands.

[Night: A-11 Locked]

Those who made it to the meeting will be greeted by Alexandria at the door and led to the living room where Olivier has set up a circle of chairs. There is a small table stacked with an assortment of cookies, cup, and a fresh pot of coffee. Once everyone is there and seated, she will join everyone.

"In light of recent revelations, I think it is important to evaluate the plan to infiltrate the prison."

There was a loud whistle that sounded through the air. Yuffie sat on the roof of a broken building, her long hair tied over her shoulder with a bright green ribbon. She had her usual ninja apparel on but around her belt were work tools instead of blades. She waved a quick hand to make sure that Olivier saw her.

"HEY!" Her expression was more serious than before and she looked a little annoyed but that seemed to be common place when you worked in the hot sun all day long.

"We need more shingles! A idiot with blond hair broke a bunch."

Yuffie was glad that she had the materials because it meant that she might be able to fix this roof today. The water made her pause and then blink.

"I have water..." Somewhere, when was the last time she'd eaten? She's been so focused in her work she's sorta forgotten to do anything else. Her stomach grumbled slightly at the sight of water and she relented to it's need to drink.

"Yeah..."

Yuffie took the water in hand and gulped down the cold liquid. It made her head rush but she shook it off and set the empty cup down with a nod. She didn't really feel like smiling and her relationship with Olivier was weird enough as it was.

"I'll eat in a bit. I want to finish this section before I take a break." She gestured towards her work. Her talents at rebuilding were as skilled as her talents as a ninja. She had to work hard when she was at Wutai and she put that work ethic to work now.

"Yeah."

Yuffie just stares for a moment before getting back to work. Things these days were just too weird.

To aid Olivier, Daisy also set some tea in, an old vice she gained through Saori back in Luceti. She even makes brownies! And luckily, since nobody is from her world, she cannot break the brain of anyone wondering how the hell can a SPARTAN-II bake such amazing brownies.

On to the point...

Upon serving them, Daisy remained standing, still holding on to her cloak, crossing her arms beneath it as she tried to think of other plans to get through it. Kuma wrote down the transcript of the conversation over her shoulder.

"We might have a little more time for now, with the delay."

Planning always goes better with snacks and coffee. Sparks rests his chin on a hand, and taps on the table with the other, thinking.

"A little more time, yeah. But it could start back up again at any time. I mean, what's gonna happen when we get near it?"

Crystals were mysterious things here, and while Sparks doesn't understand even half of it, he knows that their own Job crystals are the cause of enough problems.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend 'n all that, but these guys are still criminals. Ain't planning on just lettin' 'em loose in our territory once we get there. I can see about makin' room in the prisons in with our allies, maybe get 'em some time off their sentences for cooperation." That's a problem for the lawyers later, though.

Vincent is near the back; he stands out often enough as it is--although not being the tallest present is a nice change. Not one he'll draw attention to, but a nice change none-the-less. Quiet as he listens, before venturing several thoughts.

"If we knew for certain who might be in there, that would help. We're unlikely to gather such intelligence before we leave though. Further, since the crystallization has stopped, would it be worth 'testing' and seeing if our presence triggers it to move again? It's not possible to leave our crystals behind, is it?"

Good god, if they could leave their crystals behind, would that effect their skills? What about their lives? If they got away from it by so many units of measurement, would they cease to exist?

"Leaving our crystals behind is a valid option, I think," Ashelia answered, sipping on a cup of coffee. It was bitter, but she liked it that way. "They will come when called, regardless of the distance. Without a research department at our backs, I should think it impossible to tell whether that will effect the Calamity's spread or not, but..."

She shifted in her seat, looking very, very tired for a half-second. "Leaving people, felons or not, to be crystallized at the hands of the Calamity is not an option, as far as I'm concerned; 'tis also entirely possible an avatar is amongst them. Though you do raise a good point, Marshal." She nodded at Sparks. "Perhaps we can look into ways these men and women can be reintegrated into society, perhaps helping to rebuild Aqures Ixen."

Daisy looked down at the proposal of leaving their crystals behind. She remembered what Doctor Kalki did to the heroes of light time ago.

"I remember," Daisy spoke, "when I was in prison, that Tazendra and I found files of Dr. Kalki experimenting on heroes of light. She warped their crystals, transformed them, and in other cases... it implied it would destroy their worlds. It made sense with a dream that existed time ago."

To Daisy, it felt as if the crystals were everything now.

"Regardless... I think we should act as if there was still a trap. It's going to be a heavily endangered zone with the Calamity, and I'd prefer to be as ready as possible."

Sparks's expression sours at the mention of Kalki's crystal experimentation. He saw first hand how true that was. All the more reason to leave theirs behind, just in case.

"Of course it could be a trap. Can't trust the Empire. But considerin' everything that just happened with them, my guess is that the chances are a lot lower. We sent 'em scrambling in the war. They might not have enough forces to cover prison security as well as before."

"It'd depend on what kind of security they have at the prison already. Especially if there's only one way in, or out." Vincent hazarded, quiet as he thought things through. "If we intend to go through with it, a small group that can hit hard and fast if needed is probably best, with everyone clear that it might be a suicide mission effectively."

Looking to Ashelia, he had met her only once. "There was no issue with leaving our crystals behind before, correct? No ill effects?"
