'cause your own story is the safest place you'll ever be...
Who: Shun Aonuma and whoever
Where: A-11, and then somewhere off, away from the houses
When: Starting EARLY morning of 10/15, not far from midnight, in fact
Summary: Shun awakened to discover -- much to his horror -- he's regained his abilities, from home.
Warnings: Dark thoughts, WHY THIS HE DOESN'T WANT IT, destruction of private property, introspect swearing, lots of angst, etc...
It was similar to when he'd been visited by the Blessing Spirit, when he was younger...
Eyes widened, he sat up with the...terrifying realization that everything in his room was moving. Lifting. He wouldn't be surprised if he'd awakened because something slammed into the wall. As the room, suddenly, brightened, it didn't take long for him to notice that it was because he'd set a chair on fire. The sound of Michiko's terrified "k-kupo?!" as she dodged out of the way of a random object, didn't even register, at the moment...
Nor did her asking what was going on...
Fortunately, it didn't take long for him to lower everything to the floor and put the fire out. Exhaling somewhat shakily, a brief flash of fear appeared. Had it followed him, there, after all...? Not wanting to wait to find out, he took a moment to reassure Michiko, before asking her to stay in the room. Rushing to get dressed, he made his way to the front door to...leave.
Less than an hour, later, he was still trying to convince Michiko to go back home. It took him promising to call her with the flute, after having had a moment to...calm down. She wasn't happy about it...but she, finally, complied. He didn't want anyone to around, in that moment. He wasn't sure what had happened. No longer in possession of the Jobs, he was left with his cantus. Only...it didn't feel quite the same. He needed to figure out what the limitation of his abilities were, while gauging how much control he had over it...
So, out there, in the darkness, he was going to practice...
All the while, his thoughts were trailing back to the memory of home -- of Pinewind, particularly. His parents, his friends, all of them... they were dead. Never coming back. It was all his fault -- all because of the very Power he'd awakened with. He was just...very grateful that it didn't seem they were doing the, exact, same thing they'd been doing, back home. Was it only the cantus that had returned, and not the disease...?
[OOC: Roommate is free to, momentarily, stop him from leaving the house. Anybody else is welcome to find him outside. His abilities aren't dangerous, honestly. He's just not happy to have them, at the moment.]

somewhere in the forest...?
He had awoken abruptly, and he certainly wouldn't be going back to sleep anytime soon. Shukaku's all-too-familiar voice was grating, inside his mind, as his demon mocked him gleefully. Slipping out of bed, Gaara quickly dressed and left before Luke could wake up. Fortunately, Karura was also asleep, curled up with Ion, as was their usual way of huddling closely together.
It took the ninja mere seconds to realize that his sand abilities had returned. Without hesitation, he took to the skies, body dissolving into sand as he... worked to mentally figure out a destination. The skills of his Job Classes had suddenly become inaccessible. He wouldn't be able to fulfill his duties at the hospital, in this capacity. While it had been an interesting change of pace to be healing rather than inflicting pain, he was... much more familiar with causing destruction, given his background.
Gaara landed in an undetermined location, and immediately, his head lifted. He wasn't alone. He couldn't sense chakra, since no one else was from his world, but... he always did bear a close relationship with the darkness. Unafraid, he stepped forward to investigate, all the while intentionally ignoring the voice that echoed in his mind. He didn't need to be distracted or persuaded by Shukaku, right now. Those urges had also come back, accompanying his original powers. Once again, he had become a threat to everyone around him.
somewhere in the forest, it is
Well, that was simple...
Exhaling, he closed his eyes, again. As they slid back open, flames were summoned around him. They weren't large -- he wasn't using all of his abilities, though it seemed...that wasn't far from the extent. So, that was it, was it? He'd regained his former abilities, but they weren't anywhere near their former level. The flames were only a little over twice his height, and didn't move quite as freely as they should have. Nevertheless, they still formed a snake-like shape and dance into the sky. As the fire dissipated, Shun held a blink, letting out a quiet sigh. In spite of the limited abilities...
...Everything was so far, so good.
good job, Shun. Smokey the Bear hates you
It would seem that Shun's powers of observations were... most likely the same level as a civilian. But his powers certainly set him apart from that of a regular civilian.
Gaara was tempted, for a moment, to take control of those rocks and crush them into rubble... except that he had no reason to do so. He remained in the shadows for a while longer, watching in silence. Wanting to see what Shun was capable of. Really, he was curious about everyone's original powers. Because they were mostly equal, due to the Job Classes being the same, across the board. And now... the equilibrium had shifted. Was this change permanent? There were... some differences. His chakra levels had declined, which meant he wouldn't be able to utilize as many techniques.
He was ever-so-cheerfully reminded that now, Luke had the ability to destroy an entire city, again. Not that Gaara thought he would, but it might make the other redhead feel anxious, to suddenly have his powers back.
Reverting his attention to Shun, Gaara quirked a brow in interest at the sight of those flames. So, he also had pyrokinetic abilities? Similar to Sasuke Uchiha... Only, Shun's mindset seemed to be more stable, fortunately. And less dead set on obtaining vengeance.
A few embers fell onto random tree branches that were scattered over the ground. A couple of them caught fire, and Gaara reacted instantaneously, lifting an arm to send his sand forward. They covered the flames and smothered them, before they could spread to any of the other nearby trees.
Well, now there was little point in concealing his presence. He stepped out further, but didn't leave the darkness completely. He spoke just loudly enough for Shun to realize his identity, "Impressive..."
xD;
Just as he started to will that fire away, on the ground, he was left blinking, "......"
Upon hearing that voice, he looked in the direction of it. He did know, exactly, who it was. Form tensing, just a bit, he remained silent, for a moment. In spite of Gaara not stepping out, Shun was able to make out his form, no problem. Just like his cantus, his strong eyesight had returned. Turning towards the other teenager, Shun nodded.
"Telekinesis," he said, almost as though answering a silent question.
Well, he assumed most would be curious about what his abilities were. Shun didn't see any reason to hide it, in this place. Folding his arms over his chest, lightly, he looked to the side, a moment. While he didn't want to risk Gaara's well-being, he was at a far enough distance... A small smile of irony appeared as he spoke.
"It seems this place has decided to give, yet, another surprise..." Referring to the return of abilities.
no subject
Gaara shook his head slightly, trying to will that thought away. Had his guard really gotten this weak from two months of the demon's absence? He wasn't going to give into his primal instincts so easily.
"I see." Shun seemed to feel more comfortable with distance between them. Bearing that in mind, he remained concealed by the shadows. "Yes... Though one must question if the change is permanent. And for what purpose, were our abilities returned..."
Nothing happened without a specific purpose. If the abilities of their Job Classes weren't sufficient, then... did that mean they bore the expectation of fighting stronger adversaries?
"Your demeanor is different," he remarked bluntly, "You seem... wary."
no subject
Green eyes rested on the redhead, the soft smile remaining. A faintly strained look entered it, however, as he found himself contemplating those words. Permanence was the very thing he was afraid of. He didn't wish to keep something that could bring ruin to Crystallis. He'd already left a crater in his wake, unintentionally, back in Kamisu 66. If it was temporary, however, he would agree with the possibility of it having something to do with the future obstacles.
"..."
His expression tensed, briefly, the smile fading. Looking to the side, he released a quiet exhale. So, the other teen was observant, was he? Tense silence permeated the air, around him, as he considered how to respond. Green eyes slid back to the older teen, after several seconds. A tired-looking smile surfaced. Gaara seemed intelligent, and so...
"If I may be frank, it's nothing personal. Really, it's more for...your sake, than mine. I'd rather avoid putting you at an unnecessary risk. It should be fine for a short period of time."
no subject
Really. His own boyfriend had the ability to disintegrate an entire city. If he didn't have cause to be afraid of Luke, why should he harbor that fear toward anyone else? Certainly, Luke was much more benevolent than most, but... Gaara didn't get a killing intent from Shun. He could usually detect a certain amount of hostility in people, but Shun wasn't one of them. He was... gentle. Soft-spirited. Almost delicate, in a manner of speaking.
His assessment wasn't comprehensive, of course. He would need additional time to observe Shun, and further analyze his behavior. Though... it wasn't like they were going to become friends. What would be the purpose, then?
"If I may be frank in return..." Gaara started to speak, as a twisted smirk of irony slowly creased his lips, "your safety is the one at risk. You don't seem to possess the desire to harm others, after all."
Clearly implying that he did. He just... had to suppress those desires, amongst normal people. People that wouldn't understand his bloodlust, or why he actually enjoyed inflicting pain upon others.
He averted his gaze before Shun could catch a glimpse of those malicious urges, which would occasionally surface within his eyes. He hadn't come to this forest for the express purpose of hurting Shun. He simply needed to isolate himself, before he could... succumb.
no subject
He was quiet, a faintly curious expression passing over his face, briefly. While Shun, himself, could be brave in most situations -- where others were terrified, even -- it was rare that he met someone who expressed blind bravery. Gaara didn't even know what he could do, yet he was practically waving a nonchalant hand in his face. Interesting...to say the least.
Then, a threat was being given, in return for his warning, "So, you wish to hurt...people?"
Shun's tone didn't imply that he was fearful, or even perturbed. It simply implied that he had never encountered a person that desired something such as that. Everyone he'd ever known had been forced to deal with the Death of Shame, ensuring a genuine inability to kill another human being. The only time he ever heard of this being a possibility, was in a fictitious story of an Ogre. The story of a creature that possessed true killed intent, and then drove a boy to kill himself for the sake of protecting his village -- 'It doesn’t matter if I die; please don’t let the fiend get into the village.'
So, it was for that reason, that him encountering a person that had no qualms with killing another of his kind...was akin to fascinating. Gaara averting his gaze after stating such a bold statement was even more interesting. Shun's head tilted to the side, in contemplation. When he spoke, it was with a lowered gaze of his own.
"My safety could become at risk, even without being in your presence," he started, and then looked back up to the older teenager, "My abilities aren't guaranteed to always be under my control. That was the case, prior to my leaving home." Fortunately, however, he wasn't having any problems with keeping his cantus focused -- for the time being, at least.
no subject
That moment passed, and he regained focus long enough to reply, "Yes... at times."
He wasn't going to delve into any further detail, though. It was none of his concern. Luke only knew about the full moon, but... nothing else. Most likely, he didn't know that Gaara still felt those urges, outside of the full moon. For a while, at least, he could assume the persona of a normal individual. How long that facade would last, he couldn't make the determination right then.
The ghost of a sympathy look briefly passed over his expression. Not being able to control his abilities... it was a sentiment that he could understand, completely. Still, he didn't feel an ounce of trepidation. His guard was up; even if Shun attempted to attack him the next second, he could defend or retaliate. Someone without his capabilities would certainly have cause to be concerned. Shun possessed telekinetic powers, and could strike without being detected, until it was too late to react.
"...I see. What is the time limitation?" He could leave before that final minute hand struck.
no subject
Gaining even more of a curious expression, Shun's brows lifted a bit, "Are these times random...or is there something that brings that moment forth?"
It wasn't as though he had any way of knowing that Gaara had no intention of granting him answers. To the question, Shun looked to the side. He had no way of gauging the time limit, considering he was having no issue with controlling them, just yet. For all he knew...the disease may not have followed him. Nevertheless, he didn't wish to find out the hard way, "...I'm unable to properly determine that particular detail. At the moment, however--"
With that, he lifted a hand. Dirt lifted, forming into several pellets on the way to his hand. They hardened and smoothed into spheres approximately an inch in diameter. Without further explanation, they began circling over his outstretched palm. Even as he lowered his hand back to his side, they never stopped the repetitive circling. Green eyes moved back to the redhead's face, "It should be alright, all things considered. The guaranteed effects only happen after a gratuitous amount of time spent in my presence."
no subject
His eyes narrowed, taking on a look that combined both annoyance and a hint of anger. The question was reasonable, but not one that he wished to elaborate on. "If you are concerned about being attacked… then don't provoke me."
His level of patience was a little shorter than usual, he noticed. It was a strain, having to keep the demonic influence at bay, nonstop. Since Shun didn't know his own limits – which was a severe disadvantage, in the redhead's opinion – then they should certainly restrict the length of contact. There was truly little purpose for an extended stay. He had wanted to satisfy a curiosity, nothing more.
"At the moment… you seem to be in control of your power."
Gaara made a mental note of that aspect, as he watched Shun spinning the pellets around, over and over. Because they were created from dirt, he was able to affect their movement. Resisting the urge to smirk, the Suna ninja started to change the direction and angle of the circles, throwing them off-course. He didn’t believe it would take Shun very long to determine the cause of those actions.
“I suppose, it would be unwise to test those unknown limits,” he remarked coolly, “I will leave you to your activities.”
Daylight;
And he never stepped into their old school again.
This time he had a similar experience as Shun and Saki. But the fear that shook him to his very core and forced his power to lash out wasn't from a trickster cat but a dream. A dream of a boy...he had been crying near a dark, black lake. Satoru moved close to him and when he touched his shoulder he tried to call a name, feeling the motion on his lip but his voice was muted. The boy turned, hair black as night, and his face contorted and faded out to be utterly unrecognizable. Are you going to forget me again, Satoru?
Suddenly everything went up in flames and a storm gathered around them. It felt so real, because it was real. When he opened his eyes the furniture was in flame and everything spun and crashed into the walls wildly. He felt his heart beating rapidly staring at the carnage before he suddenly snapped out of it and stopped the chaos. Yuki laid there, shivering against him in fear. He petted the small moogle until his trembling lowered before getting up and quickly writing a letter and a note to his roommates. He handed both to the moogle and sent him on his way, telling him to go home for now since he had to be somewhere and he wasn't sure how the little one would cope with the side effects of cantus. Back home they had many safeties in place to deal with the leak of power, but here their where none. This was a world that was not only dangerous for the boys but one that was in danger FROM the boys.
Quickly he moved, he knew who had been in his dream. It was x, he dreamed the same dream so many times before. But this felt different and it left him unsettled. He had to see Shun.
It was sad to admit, but he had been worried about losing Shun again so he tried to keep quiet and followed him home that day they had reunited. He didn't mean to use the information for anything creepy, but something drove him to do it. And now he was glad. Easily he swerved his way through the streets into the district he had last seen his boyfriend enter. It was here he told himself to go back, so now he would just have to make a guess.
Perhaps Shun's own powers had returned as well? That would make finding him a little easier.
He ran down the street, looking this way and that for any sign of evidence that cantus had been used, and that was when he noticed a broken window... could this be the place? With a deep breath he walks up the steps and lifts and hand to knock.
<- boy at the lake happen to look like that Satoru? :V
Well, he already knew what the solution was...
Holding a blink, he forced his thoughts away from that, for a moment. Really, he was exhausted. At that point, he didn't even know how long it had been since he'd eaten. With a quiet, but heavy, exhale, he made his way back home. Just as he was within mere feet of his house, he heard a knocking. Rounding a corner...he was looking at a familiar form. Exhaling, his steps came to a stop. Just like that, he contemplated the true necessity of obtaining nourishment. Satoru...was the last person he wanted to be around, in that particular moment.
For starters, that was one of the very last people he would ever want to bring harm...
Brow tensing, a bit, his head tilted downward. Then, turning it, he looked to the side. Without warning or explanation, he turned and began walking back from where he'd come. No, he couldn't risk it. He had to find a way to avoid everyone. Steadying his breaths, he didn't hesitate to have his steps becoming quicker and more determined to place distance between them.
Nope looked a lot cuter and a lot dorkier
Imagined, because he couldn't be sure. The only thing on his mind right now was the other boy, and for the very reason he was avoiding him. But then a single thought drove him forward and he took off as if rabid monster rats were at their heels once again, jumping over every obstacle not even bothering to think about it.
He couldn't let him walk away again, the last time he did he lost him forever. He promised he would NEVER EVER LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN!
And yet here they were. Satoru slid the corner and used that increase of stamina to his advantage. He didn't care how you felt Shun, not right then. He fully planned to fully go after you until you ran out of energy and couldn't run any longer. This is what he should have done that morning,
His eyes lowered on his prey and so very like the trickster cats they feared as children he lunged forward, his muscles unusually tone for a human from a village that promoted study over physical prowess because they would have no reason to fight for their lives. Although they all knew that was a false idea.
Suddenly he reached out with his mind, gripping Shun’s clothes with as much power as he could muster in its current unpracticed state. It wouldn’t stop him, but it should distract him long enough for the blonde to catch up and grab him with his own hand.
...So somewhat like the icon that's there now, perhaps? |D;
Brow tensing, he...slowed down. As he slowly trotted, then took a few more steps into a full stop, he stared down at the ground. His hands tensed into fists as he let his breaths slow a bit. He'd had every intention of remaining hidden as he figured out his next move. His next plan had been to write a letter to Satoru, to explain. Holding a blink, he realized just how futile his efforts would be, the current time around.
Surely, the other teen would know...anything he said to chase him off, would be for the sake of chasing him off.
Frustration was building, already. Looking straight ahead, his jaw tensed, briefly. Releasing a soft breath, he spoke in a tone that revealed a sliver of frustration. In spite of it, internally, being...more than just a sliver. It was due to the fact that he was attempting to do something for his childhood friend's safety, and that very friend was far too stubborn for his own good, "...I assume there's little point in telling you to stay away."
more Bitty.
But something kept him from forcing the action. The hand that had reached out towards his ex-lover dropped to his side as his eyes wavered and he looked to the ground.
He had acted thinking only with his heart, not really giving a single thought to how Shun would react or retaliate. And hearing that frustration in his voice, while still not being able to see his face, it easily reopened those barely patched over wounds in his heart.
Suddenly he noticed his vision blearing, his eyes beginning to sting and his hands clenched up into tight fists as he started to tremble. Fucking hell, Shun.
"Shut up!" He didn't want to hear it, he couldn't handle hearing it. The reality was Shun could still reduce him into a crying mess if he wanted too. "I'm not listening this time, I know what you plan on doing..."
Red wine flashes red as he glares up at Shun. Suddenly the ground in front of the other rises up into a wall, and at that same time Satoru moves forward and roughly grabs him, spinning him around and pressing him against the stone barrier.
"You want to save me? To protect me? Then tell me Shun..." Before he knew it he felt tears pricking at his eyes again, as the weight of everything finally crashed down against him. "How am I supposed to live knowing I let all my friends die without being able to do a thing?"
He couldn't handle it anymore, knowing that despite everything he hadn't been able to save a single one of them, or even be trusted enough by them to try. If not for Saki....Perhaps that was why Maria had let her go. She could always see beyond the act he put on to his own weakness, a weakness Saki herself had yet to realize. If he lost Saki too...he wouldn't have been able to live with himself. And Saki wasn't here, and it was so very likely all he'll find when he returns is her gravestone.
That realization wipes him of all the strength he had, and he bows his head. "Please Shun, I can't just sit back and wait for you to die again...I just can't..." He would rather kill himself then have to experience that pain again. “Don’t do this again…”
now you're just being picky
Just then, he was being grabbed, his back hitting the wall. It was with just enough force to have a bit of air expelling. A flash of tension appeared on Shun's face as he looked straight ahead, emerald resting on wine. Listening quietly, he...found his stomach sinking. All his friends...? His breath caught, briefly. Exhaling just a bit more shakily than intended, he gave the other teen a quizzical look.
It wasn't until Satoru's head was lowered, that he realized he had stopped breathing. Slowly, he drew in a slow breath. That pleading had his expression straining. The only thing he could focus on...was that single sentence that held quite a bit of weight. It implied something that managed to have his chest tightening, as well as his heart racing. The only words he could audibly manage, came out in a quiet tone...
"...Satoru," he said, brow furrowing just slightly, "what do you mean by 'all' your friends...?"
Only as picky as my muse is with his women
And also to keep him from having to talk about it, from having to say those words and his real feelings out loud. It was too soon, and he had grown used to lying about the truth even to himself. His mouth closes and he just peers deeply into those green eyes for a long moment, a sob catching in his throat which he manages to swallow down before finally saying something.
"It's Mamoru...he'd run away because the board of education sent out the trickster cats. Me, Saki, and Maria all went after him, and managed to locate him, but he refused to go back to the village. I don't know what happened after that, I headed back to try and cover our asses and ended up questioned and detained." The words where just coming out, starting off slow and scattered but he was a story teller, and as he spoke things began to flow easier. Perhaps his mind managed to convince him that lying held no purpose, which was true. He never could deceive Shun, and really…he wanted to talk to him.
He stops for a moment, his eyebrows lowering. "It was terrifying...not because I was facing the board but just, the look in their eyes. They stared at us exactly like we had looked at the monster rats after the priest was killed, unsure when or if they would attack." Satoru had no doubt if his words where revealed to be false, or he said something unsatisfactory, he would have been killed right there.
"I guess Saki followed after me, my grandmother saved her from the council and gave us both the mission to retrieve Maria and Mamoru and promised that they'd be safe...but if they stayed out there the board would release them as highly dangerous and every town, every human respectful hive would be ordered to kill them." He releases a long sigh. "Shun, we couldn't find them...they hid their tracks and left us with nothing but a letter saying goodbye."
They tried, even after receiving the letter they tried, they searched high and low, night and day and still could not find a single sign of their lost loved ones. "I want to believe that they'll make it but..." He's a realist, and he knows that deep down Saki believes it too. Even if they manage to survive for now, they won't last alone out there. It's far more dangerous than anyone can possibly imagine.
Either way they would never see them again.
"We were heading back to the village when I got transported here, I'm not sure what's going to happen." He moves away from Shun finally, but he dares not turn his back. All this talk, only made him want to hold onto his past boyfriend tighter. "It was supposed to be the two of us, but now I'm not even there to protect her, to help her through all of it. We lost the three of you in a month, and it's broken her." Suddenly his face tenses up, frustration apparent as he roughly sticks his hands into his coat pockets. "I can't even help her, because I can't do anything that will help. Now I'm gone too? It's driving me up a wall, thinking about what's going on right now in our world."
Was Saki okay?
... whelp. that says a lot :v
Just like that, the sinking feeling slammed into him. Before Satoru even began his explanation, Shun already had a strong idea of what had happened. That warning he'd given Saki...it played, over and over, in his mind. That last day he'd seen her, he'd told himself they'd be fine -- all the while, knowing of the harsh reality that could befall them all. It was getting difficult to breathe.
His expression tensed, for the sake of concealing those inner thoughts and feelings. Mouth forming a thin line, he listened...quietly...to those words. The more Satoru spoke, the more the sick feeling threatened to distract. He wouldn't let it distract, of course. The images of the three friends, from home, played through his mind. His eyes couldn't conceal just how worried he was, for them. Maria...Mamoru...and...
...Saki. She was all alone...and broken? Green eyes closed, his teeth clenching together, so firmly, they were starting to ache. Without realizing it, he was pressing against that wall, more, almost as though preventing himself from falling. How had it come to that...? Why did it have to be that way?!
No...he needed to stay...calm. Slowly opening his eyes, he forced his breath to steady, though he hadn't even realized they needed to be, until just then. Parting his lips to draw in a slow, but deep breath, he slowed his racing thoughts. Blinking his eyes, ignoring the stinging, he swallowed back the ache within his throat. Then, in a forcibly calm tone, he said the only words he could manage, at the moment, "...It's not your fault."
It wasn't. If something happened to them...it wasn't Satoru's fault that he wasn't there to help them. He and Saki had done everything they could to help the other two, and winding up in a new world wasn't something he could have stopped. Nobody had arrived, there, willingly...right? Clearly, his childhood friend had been through a lot. With that thought, in mind, his expression softened. Studying that tense form, a moment, he stepped forward. Firmly wrapping his arms around the other teen, he pressed his mouth against his shoulder. Closing his eyes, he released a steady breath. Lifting his head, just enough to speak, his words came out quietly.
"No matter what happens, you did everything you could. Nobody could ever say otherwise, because none of this could have been stopped. We're all here, against our will. I've been thinking a lot about this, and I'm starting to wonder if we're all outside of our time. There are people, here, who claim to be from Earth, but are all from places that I've never heard of. There's even a girl that claims to be from Japan, and said that it was the year 2005. Then, there's the fact that you're, clearly, from a later time, than I am. The only explanation that I'm able to come up with, is that we're all separated from our times, back home..."
There was a pause as his expression faltered, though unseen. The next part, he was having to put more effort into saying in a steady tone, "So...perhaps, when we all return home, it will be at the same times we'd left." No, he wasn't perfectly sure of any of that; he had to say something...anything...to reassure Satoru.
Shush you.
They should have dragged Mamoru back with them, or he should have made sure Saki would stay by their side. And to think they wouldn't eventually target one of them was ridiculous, his shock at hearing about the trickster cat... He nearly releases a dry chuckle. He was such a fucking fool, a blind...ignorant fool. The same one that had believed Shun's vicious words and decided to let him be instead of grab onto him.
His eyes began to sting, his breath picking up as his nails dug deeply into the palm of his hands. Satoru was supposed to be smart, to be powerful, to be the protector and he failed at all three.
And then he heard those words, and every dark thought dispersed for a split second. "What..." His voice stops and then he shuts his mouth closed with a clack of his teeth. Violently he shakes his head. "HOW!? How is this not my fault!?" he suddenly cries out and gives Shun a disbelieving look...just as the other moved forward to wrap his arms around him.
Shock ran through his entire body, a gasp escaping his lips as that warm pressure sinks into his tense frame. And instantly he can feel his muscles begin to relax. He fights against it though, those sobs rolling back up into his throat and threatening to break free. Pulling his hands out of his pockets he moves them between Shun and him...but he can't gather the strength or will to actually push him away, so instead they just clutch desperately, his eyes begging him to not do this, but at the same time to do more.
He tried to focus on the words, and push back the threatening tears, the sound logic and that hopeful thought a comfort. But was it really as simple as that? They could be returned back to their times, but they couldn't be sure. Still, he understood Shun's reasons for telling him all this, despite the obvious uncertainty. The two of them where both on the route of becoming great thinkers. They didn't put much stake into curses, but instead into reason. And if Satoru had his doubts, the better thinker of them would definitely hold it as nothing more than an untested theory.
Still he tried to hold onto those words. And in the next moment he releases a long drawn out breath. "Perhaps..." With that, he then gently presses against Shun's chest, moving him away enough to see his face again. "Shun..." A glimmer of uncertainty flicks over his expression before he takes a quick breath, seeming to come to a conclusion. "Kiss me."
The words where obviously meant to be more of a order, but his tone and the look in his eyes clearly expressed it as a request, or even a question.
Make me :|
In spite of never seeing that look that passed over his childhood friend's face, he still...felt it. His fingers curled as he felt those hands press against his chest, even though the assumed action was never followed through. Gaze softening, he slowly lifted a hand to the back of that sandy lock-covered head. It was his turn to be the one to offer comfort. Just like that, he momentarily...forgot the reason he'd been running away. All that mattered, just for a little while, at least, was that Satoru needed him. That was the firm belief he was latching onto.
Even if the other teen didn't want to accept it, or even believe it...he would still be the one for him to lean on.
Really, he knew that there was a likelihood that the other young man wouldn't hold a firm belief in his analysis. He also knew that Satoru would understand his reasons for saying them. A part of it had been for the sake of opening his eyes to the possibilities. There was no guarantee that Saki was...dead. Maybe...it was Shun's way of keeping himself remotely sane. If he were to allow himself to latch too firmly onto the realization that she could be gone...that she could had died while alone, and suffering-- Releasing a slow breath, he forced himself to stop thinking about that. He couldn't let himself think about it. A tiny voice rang free in the back of his mind -- she's okay...she'll be fine...
Seeing that look in Satoru's eyes, Shun's own widened a tiny bit. Those two simple words were heard as a question, and Shun couldn't deny he knew the answer the second the sound reached his ears. He'd been fighting to ignore his own stress...his own fears and doubts and worries, but...there was no ignoring them, completely. At the moment, his powers had yet...to start leaking out, in the same way that they were, back in Kamisu 66. Regardless, there was no doubt that they would. He still...needed to find a way to get away from Satoru, but he knew that running would never work. The other had more stamina than him, and he his stubbornness could only be competed with by Saki's.
Holding a blink, he allowed a faint, almost sad smile to appear on his lips. As his eyes opened, an almost gentle look had appeared within them. It was almost as though he was giving the answer, already. The hand against the back of Satoru's head slid to the side of his face, his thumb giving a comforting caress. Leaning forward, his lips gently brushed over the opposite pair, a few seconds. Then, he leaned in, completely. On his end, the kiss was soft and reassuring...
*om's face*
But still he didn't voice his anger, knowing very well that would only lead him to his own nameless grave. He didn't really care to be honest, but he couldn't leave Saki alone like that, so he'll be a good boy. He'll follow the rules, and he'll stop hunting after the answers he sought, at least until they were 17.
Well, that had been the plan, until he woke up here.
Now all he could do was lean on Shun, and try to hope for the best. And he was so thankful to have the boy again. He doubted he would have been able to deal with everything as well as he was without him by his side, and without his reassurances. Just to be in his arms, and feel that slim hand in his hair was enough to ease his stormy thoughts, but it didn't stop him from wanting to cry.
He never did get a moment to mourn their lost friends, he had to be the shoulder for Saki and then to try and ease her suffering and avoid showing his own he went to the only thing he knew. That was a week ago now, and he didn't have her here to support him. He dared not ask Shun because surely he had his own problems and he had no right to ask such things of him after they broke up, after everything that happened.
Satoru wanted to make sure Shun understood his feelings for him, and accepted them, before he even tried to fix their relationship. So he kept his urges down as much as possible, kept things light, friendly, but still as sentimental as always. He could sleep with anyone, but he only wanted one lover, and like when they first began this relationship, he already knew he wanted that lover to be this black haired, green eyed genius of a boy.
But now he was breaking apart, and it didn't appear that the other would release him anytime soon. He also still didn't dare leave him to his own devices in fear of never seeing him again. And so he finally asked, the only thing he could think of doing with the short span of time they had. Hugs where fine, but he needed more, and he needed to know that if he broke down right now that the other was willing to patch him back together again.
And when he saw that look in his eye, and felt that hand on his face he knew the answer already. A relieved sigh escapes his lips as he leans gently against that touch, eyes shutting close just as those lips met his own. And god, it was like getting a much needed drink of water after being forcibly denied for days, and one tear slipped from the corner of his eye as he sunk into that kiss desperately.
Slowly his hands moved away from his chest and moved to wrap around him, deepening the kiss only a touch but ultimately leaving it in the others control. This time it was all on Shun….And if they were to fix their relationship he decided he wanted him to be the one to fix it, because he couldn’t handle anymore rejection. His heart was on the table, free to be held or stabbed if the other should choose.
During Daylight
The skin prickled at the back of her neck. It felt like something was wrong so she walked forward to investigate what could be happening. Her eyes landed on Shun and then on the things around him. Yeul stood, silently watching his practice.

His steps came to a stop as he spotted the familiar face. His eyes widened, just a bit, and then he glanced down. He couldn't let anyone close...He didn't know how his cantus could affect this world, and he didn't wish to find out, the hard way. Nevertheless, he wouldn't be rude...
"Yeul. Do you need something?" He wasn't sure why she was standing there -- he figured it might be best to ask that, just in case she did.

Until she knew more she could only assume so she waited, staring up at Shun, hoping that he knew what was going on.

"I was testing my level of control," he said with a light, wry smile.
After another short pause, he rested a hand on his hip. Head tilting, a tiny bit, to the side, he spoke in a forcibly calm tone, "It seems this world has decided to bring even more unexpected twists."

Something had felt off since that morning but she couldn't tell what. Everything in this world felt weird to the young seeress.

Her demeanor was...a bit comforting. The lack of surprise was interesting, though. Studying her, for a moment, a thought occurred to him. Hand lowering from his hip, he asked her in a curious tone, "Do you still possess your Job Classes?"
no subject
"I imagine to most it would be good to regain old abilities."

Silence, immediately, reared its uncomfortable head to her last sentence. Staring down at the ground, the young man's expression grew tense. To...most, indeed. After a short pause, he spoke in a quiet voice.
"And, for some, it can be both a blessing, as well as a curse."

She reached out and tried to access her job but felt nothing. For a moment her breath stopped as she thought of what this could mean. Would her end come sooner than she knew? It was strange to not be able to see it.
"I can't."
Her voice was soft but it was obvious that she was worried. Deep down she was scared but she had to hold it in.

Too far away to note the stop in breaths, he didn't know anything until she said those two words. Considering the sad smile, earlier, he...suspected that wasn't a good thing, for her. Or, maybe, it was fine. Just because she didn't have her Jobs, it wasn't guaranteed that she had her powers from home. Green eyes lowering to the ground, he remained silent for a bit.
"...So, then, do you have a way to know if you have your abilities, from home?"
no subject
"I am the seeress. Once my powers return I will see the future as it changes." There was an important piece of information that she was leaving out but it was to hard to mention.
no subject
No doubt, he was impressed by the claim. Feeling the chaos...? She didn't sound as though she was lying. In fact, just the opposite. She would be able to see the...future? He glanced to the side. That was quite an amazing ability. In that instant, his mind went to his friends. What were...their futures?
Were they safe...?
Softly, he offered her a smile. In spite of where his mind went, something else seemed more important, "That sounds like quite the burden."
no subject
There are times she wished for a family, to be able to run and play with the other kids. A time where her and Caius could be free.
"You also know of burdens that come from power." She didn't phrase it as a question but her voice was steady and gentle.
no subject
"Shun, what just happened? Are you alright?"
no subject
...Then, immediately after, his expression was softening into an apologetic one. Holding a blink, he considered what to even offer in explanation. How should he go about explaining something to someone not even from his world...? For the moment, he simply nodded, "I'm fine. Please try not to worry, Genesis. For the time being, it would be best if I kept a distance, from everyone."
In spite of saying that in a forcibly calm tone, his smile is...far from genuine. Averting his gaze, from her, there was a moment where his expression took on a hint of sadness and worry. What was happening...had been, exactly, what he was worried about.
no subject
She wasn't sure what to make of his explanation. To keep his distance? Why? Was it because of the noises she heard? If that was his doing, then she wasn't so sure having him run off would be best. But she also didn't know Shun all that well yet, so who was she to try and keep him there.
"You're sure?"
