Sneaking out

Characters: Yuffie and Yuki
Where: Residential district.
When: October 1? [Ish]
Summary: Yuffie's trying to sneak away and she's caught by a very expecting person.

It's difficult being stuck in your own home with no hope for release. She realizes the error of her ways and she was close to going crazy after being stick inside of so long. Which means that it's time to hatch her escape. It's only because of Mooshoo that she's waited until now to attempt to sneak away from the house. It didn't help that it's the middle of the day but she was determined.

Yuffie didn't know where Mooshoo was but her foot was already part way out the window. Then her left arm, head, hips and finally her right leg. She peeked out across the front lawn to make sure that there wasn't anyone to witness her daring escape, except there was.

A boy with delicate features and purple hair was outside and most likely staring at Yuffie's display. Her foot caught on the windowsill and the princess stumbled forward, her head face planting into the ground. She didn't let it slow her down, she jumped up, bolted next to the poor boy and clapped her hand over his mouth.

"Please don't say anything."

She looked up at him with a desperate gleam in her dark almond eyes. She didn't want to get caught when she was so close to getting away.

It had been an ordinary day..well as ordinary as things could get with people walking with weapons strapped to their backs or odd costumes milled around. Having been able to find the place where he lived was alright enough and Yuki wasn't sure how long he'd be here. So he spent hours in the library trying to research the place and the history. He was learning a lot certainly but nothing as of yet was giving him the clues that he needed to help solve the going home mystery.

Deciding he needed to get out of the library, Yuki figured he should take a break. And a local shop had these apples that were baked inside of a pastry puff. So after eating one of those, he kept walking.

Something caught his eye for a moment at the girl who'd done an almost unsuccessful climb out the window came racing towards him. And when she clapped her hand over his mouth before he could even say anything Yuki was relieved that the curse remained broken here. It would've been awkward for him to transform to say the least.

Shaking his head at the girl with the dark eyes, Yuki couldn't help but wonder who she was and what was going on.

Yuffie's shoulders slowly relaxed as her hands drops from Yuki's mouth. No yelling was good and while she didn't recognize him she knew him as one of the new heroes. They sort of stuck out and Yuffie's been here long enough to tell that much. Her nervous smile faded, replaced by a warm smirk.

"Hehehe, sorry about that."

She won't go into the details but she didn't mind telling him what she was doing, or trying to do. "Mooshoo... grounded me. My moogle..." Yes, the little ball of fluff managed to ground an 18 year old ninja princess. He was a very talented Moogle.

"So I'm sneaking out." She put her finger over her lips. "So you have to keep it a secret! okay?"

A thousand questions raced through Yuki's mind but the most important one to him at the time got asked first. "How can a moogle ground you?" It had to be the most ludicrous thing he'd heard here so far and he'd heard quite a lot of things hat could only be described as ridiculous.

He stepped back from her to put some room in between them and Yuki shook his head. "You're sneaking out from being grounded by a moogle." Did they have that much authority? Yuki never looked at Shiroi to have that much power over him.

Yuffie's confidence shattered for a moment. Yuki has clearly never met Mooshoo but then Mooshoo has had over a year to get used to the ninja princess and his arguments have only improved over time.

"Well... you see.. about that." She lightly scratched the back of her head feeling more than a little awkward. How can she explain and not sound like a looser? The more she thought about it the less likely it seemed to be possible.

So she just started talking.

"Mooshoo's an old fart and you gotta respect your elders right? Besides that he's been around and I can't fight him... he's like family and he had a point and..." Yup, she sounded really lame. Well this sucked.

He really tried to listen with an open mind. But really he couldn't see how a moogle could keep a rein over someone that seemed bent on not listening like she was. But then again she said that she was respecting her elders.

"So..if you're listening to and respecting your elders, why are you sneaking out?" This made absolutely no sense to Yuki whatsoever.

"AH!" Caught again and once more Yuffie tried to fumble out of the situation using words. She really wasn't good at this, she was better at getting angry and pulling the attention off of whatever crazy nonsense she had been up too. With that thought in mind she quickly gave up trying to come up with a good reason for the things she did. The fact was she just did things that felt right at that moment.

They didn't have to make sense.

Yuffie placed her palms on her hips. Her gaze training on Yuki like he was the one talking nonsense. "I don't know what you mean. Why are you so interested anyway? Captivated by my beauty? Well to bad because you are not cute enough for me." Which wasn't true but she didn't really want to admit that either.

She came off as just completely out in left field. Each statement was more and more insane. "I never said anything like that." And this was him taking a few steps back.

"You're the one who's escaping out and not listening to your elders. You told me that, I never asked." Because it wasn't his place to inquire as to what she was doing or why. And he wasn't even about to address that last part at all.

Yuffie's palms rested on her hip. "That's not true! You just asked why are you sneaking out?" She tried to imitate his voice but it sounded ridiculous and bit by bit her argument faltered. He had asked her what she was doing but only after she first attempted to explain.

That didn't mean she was going to clear up the confusion.

"So you're telling me that you are going to tell on me." That was also a confusing sentence and Yuffie slowly felt her head spin while trying to keep up with her own frantic words.

If anything Yuki was both overwhelmed and confused, and this girl was winding up on him. "If you are grounded I was asking why are you doing it if you know you're not supposed to or you're going against your elders."

Somehow he got the feeling he was arguing with someone he couldn't even hope to win against. But he shook his silvery head at her question. "No, what you do isn't up to me to tell on. What you do here is your business and I'll keep your secret."

And he knew what it was like to have to keep secrets. For years he did it this was him walking away because he couldn't make heads or tails of her and whatever was going on. If she wanted to get into trouble that was up to her, not him

"Great!" Yuffie smiled brightly as if her expression was trying to rival the shining ray's of the sun. Her palms clapped together and she took a step towards Yuki. "See that was easy."

As far as she saw it she won, he'd keep her secret, the confusing part really didn't matter and they could move past the whole incident. Or at least she was already past the whole incident. At least he hadn't caught her trying to sneak into the house and steal something because that's happened before too.

She lightly clapped a hand against his shoulder as if they were old friends. "So what you up too anyway?" She had no real plans outside of getting out of her house.

"I was just walking by.." Yuki's voice trailed off at the sudden change of mood. And he was reminded of Arisa, Miss Honda's friend. All gruff and ready to kick someone's ass one minute, then startlingly friendly and sweet the next.

And since he knew the cat had been here, he'd also heard something about the hospital. Maybe this person knew something about it so he'd test that theory.

"But I was thinking about visiting the hospital. That's where people..who've been here before sleep in a crystal..right?"

Yuffie blinked. "Yeah, who you looking for?"

She knew everyone who was in crystal sleep. She sometimes stopped by to visit Zack or some of those she knew. More of then not she didn't because it was depressing to see them so perfectly casted in their crystal prison. Her mind continued to dwell on those in the hospital and her smile slowly began to slip until a frown formed over her lips.

"I mean, I can take you there if you don't know the way." Yuffie needed something to do anyway and she just wanted to be outside.

He shook his head. "Someone from home."

Yuki really didn't want to admit that it was Kyo but it was the truth. And somehow he had a feeling that it wouldn't be pleasant to see, even if they had just gotten on some sort of talking terms, if it could be called that.

"That..I wouldn't want to trouble you." And that was the truth.

Yuffie looked at him with a flat gaze. “If you were trouble then I wouldn’t have offered. Trouble is saying I wouldn’t want to be trouble.” Or at least that was how Yuffie’s logic worked.

The ninja princess didn’t really wait for affirmation; she grabbed Yugi by the hand and then pulled him along towards the hospital. Every hero knew where the building was. Everyone had someone they cared about there, in Yuffie’s case it was several people though she rarely visited them. She didn’t want to see them frozen in time with those same expressions day in and day out.

After a little bit of dragging she releases Yugi, expecting the boy to walk at her side. “Besides…” She continued as if there was never a pause in conversation. “This is where I was heading anyway.” Which was a total lie.

Somehow her words weren't adding up in his mind, but Yuki would just let that go. He didn't want trouble any more than she said that she wanted trouble. But somehow what she said and what she did or meant seemed to be two different things.

But he didn't have much time to ponder that because he was being dragged towards the hospital. And while Yuki didn't believe for one moment that she was headed to the hospital, at least she knew the way and he wasn't going to be turned around even if he would never ever admit that to Kyo like, ever.

Entering into the building he couldn't help the sense of foreboding that suddenly crept up on him. And he moved with purpose until he started passing the crystallized people.

Kyo's carrot top hair caught his attention first, but it was Miss Honda that arrested his attention and he sucked in a breath as he stared at her. She looked as peaceful as always, but it sickened him to see her like this. So she had been here too...

His voice came out little more than a whisper, heart break and grief hitting him both at once.

"Miss..Miss Honda."

Yuffie knew this sort of tension and the room with the crystal people only seemed smaller each time she came to visit. She waved to Zack as if the boy might see her and then smiled at Aeirth before stopping behind Yuki. Her dark gaze peered over his shoulder, watching the frozen girl curiously.

“I think she lived with Kyo. I didn’t see her much though.”

She didn’t really go out or anything and Yuffie assumed she just had trouble adjusting to this world. She had seen Kyo and of course the first moment they met they had fought. He had a really bad temper.

“That’s Kyo right? He’s sort of a jerk…”

Not that she hated him or really knew him but he was short tempered and when they met he had blamed Yuffie for him arriving here. She didn’t much care for that and even when she tried to explain he got madder. So she decided to tease him because that was the next logical step in Yuffie’s head.

He heard Yuffie speaking behind him but for the life of him Yuki felt like he was the one frozen in place. And it took him a bit to gather his voice and feel like he could speak. And when it did come out, it was softer than usual though he didn't turn to face the ninja.

"She's..very kind, I think you'd like her."

And he couldn't help but let out a slight laugh at her assessment of Kyo as amethyst eyes took the orange haired other in but didn't move from his current location.

"Someone here..said they knew him and I didn't believe him at first. But now..it all makes sense."

Yuffie just watched Yuki curiously. She didn't know anything about the girl though she supposed she might have liked her. Yuffie didn't get along with most people because they didn't understand her and found her tendencies annoying.

"How do you know him?

She paused.

"Kyo, I mean..."

She had met him here too though it was obvious that Yuki knew him from home. She knew that look and she knew what feeling was swelling inside of him right now. Not that Yuffie was ever really sensitive to others. She just had experiance.

Looking back at Yuffie once he was sure he wasn't so worked up, Yuki shook his head. "Kyo is..related to me. But many people found him to be the same as you described." And here he felt like his voice was growing stronger.

"But a man here said he knew Kyo. And here he is..along with Miss Honda." The words brought a small comfort because he'd told Kyo to be with her, and well, seems like he listened for once in his life.

"I don't understand... is this good or bad?" Her tone was only confusion.

Yuffie didn't mean to be insensitive but Yuki wasn't being very clear. They were family, judging by the hair she assumed cousins of some sort or a once removed family member. She stared at Yuki for a long moment. He probably cared about Kyo but never really said so aloud. At least that would make the last comment make sense.

"If it makes you feel better I don't think these two left each others sides."
