Bids Starting at...

Characters: Everyone
Where: The Observatory
When: October 3rd through out the day. Auction starts at 7:00 PM.
Summary: It's Aqures Ixen's First Annual Date Auction!
Warning: Will note if needed

It's finally here. The night that will either springboard new relationships, kill wallets, or maybe both at the same time. Even though Saori maybe still be a bit salty at Brigid for signing her up to her crazy idea, she had to give the Moogle some credit. The enthusiastic fuzz ball of a shipper on deck managed to get a good chunk of both Heroes and Moogles rather hyped about this date auction. Not to mention quite handful of them were all to happy to help with preparations.

[OOC: LOG IS OPEN. HAVE FUN EVERYONE.]

By their deeds, I should think.

[but she frowns for a moment, puzzled, pivoting to keep him in view.] Merry, you mean?

[He tosses his giant wrench up and down one-handed as he wanders and yammers on.]

Is that all? I've been told I'm a Hero, but there's nothing heroic about me or my deeds. And yet here I am, counting among them all! So either the system is totally broken, or the word "Hero" has no meaning at all! Maybe even both. When your "Heroes" are unwilling victims kidnapped and pushed into the position, how can you even think you don't have a dysfunctional system?

Nothing at all? [it's a dismaying thought. If there isn't some commonality for why they've all been brought here, then… why?

Still, his words on the subject of the system of Heroes being brought here resonates with her. Why does Crystallis bear no heroes of its own?]

It makes you wonder, doesn't it? How this was started… Who decided it would be like that, too.

They must not know what they're doing. Every place in the universe is subjected to the whims of chaos, and this world is no different. We've been pushed into some sort of cosmic game of dice, and we just happened to roll snake eyes! The unlucky saps of the universe get told they're amazing heroes as a consolation prize! Ha, no thanks! I'd rather go home empty handed!

[He never stops moving the whole time he talks - still pacing, still gesturing grandly with his wrench. At least he's not knocking anything over with it.]
unyieldingspirit: (the truth is down there)

I suppose not. Aside from anything else, they're long gone…

[Much of what had been known about how all this started must have been lost to time. Yet Palitutu knew enough to start the cycle again… How? Why?

She shakes it off for now, continuing to turn as he does- though aside from her tail flicking every so often, that's almost as much movement as she makes for now.]

Indeed. I think the majority of us would rather return home. But I cannot say how we might achieve that.

Let me tell you a sad, sad story: Everyone seems to assume that if we solve the problems here, that we'll magically whisked back to our homes. This is despite the fact that there might always be problems to solve, ones that just get bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger! We have no guarantees that it will ever end. There are no guarantees in this world, or any world!

[Graham stops, and it's as if the wind suddenly gets pulled from him, his shoulders slumping.]

Ha. Now I've gone and depressed myself!
unyieldingspirit: (just disappointed)

[she doesn't say anything for a moment. It's a doubt she hasn't wanted to entertain, but every so often…]

Perhaps not. But then, we must do what we can to find a way back for ourselves. To have some hope is better than nothing.

[…perhaps.

She flicks her tail, a little disconcerted, and tilts her head.]

But in that case, there may also be opportunities. Don't you think?

Are there? Opportunities for what? Getting home? Solving more problems? I suppose. I suppose there will always be problems that need solving, but will one of them be the one we want to solve most? There are no guarantees of anything, opportunities included! We might all fall into that horrible stasis and never do anything ever again!

[Don't mind Graham as he slides into his usual downswing. He finds the nearest chair he can sit in, and lies his head on the table in front of him, despondent.]
