It's finally here. The night that will either springboard new relationships, kill wallets, or maybe both at the same time. Even though Saori maybe still be a bit salty at Brigid for signing her up to her crazy idea, she had to give the Moogle some credit. The enthusiastic fuzz ball of a shipper on deck managed to get a good chunk of both Heroes and Moogles rather hyped about this date auction. Not to mention quite handful of them were all to happy to help with preparations.

True. Asking is a simple matter. But knowing that someone is willing to pay a price is more satisfying, is it not?

[She smiles, dark eyes glittering with warmth and mischief.]

What of the results? Do you approve of your dating partner?

[D cocked his head to one side. Colour him intrigued about Rukia's reasoning. True, he had used information as a price for his work, but he never had someone pay to know his. His eyes narrowed, studying Rukia.]

I don't know much about Yuffie, but I'll get to know her. And you, Rukia?

[He wasn't about to admit that he didn't know a damn thing about setting up a date.]

Quite pleased! Although a little surprised, to be honest.

[She doesn't yet know what might have prompted Raven to bid at all, least of all persevering to win. But she's happy to be spending more time with her friends, that much she knows.]

What activity have you planned, did you decide yet?

At this moment, I do not have any plan for any of the dates. Still, I will try to concoct something.

[Really didn't want to tell he never went on a dates before. Who knew what she thought of him, but it might all change of she found out of his inexperience with the gentler side of life.]

[Rukia snaps her fingers, remembering.]

Ah yes, you won a few dates as well! I didn't expect that of you. You must be rather thrilled to have won so many.

Terrified... [D mumbled. Honestly, he never tried to throw himself into a pond of sharks like he did. Yet, the auction caused his tensions to loosen and he got caught up in the mement. If he could pale anymore he would.]

[It always surprises her when someone who's clearly a talented and skilled warrior shows fear for the things she takes for granted. Is it really so difficult for him to be around others? Perhaps that's what spurred him to bid. If so, he's quite brave to face his fears like this.]

You have nothing to worry about, D. You're worthy of being liked.

[But if he needs to bend her ear and talk to her, she doesn't mind dragging him off somewhere quieter to listen.]

[D actually blushed at Rukia's words and was at a loss of words. But the break in his armour was extremely temporary, firming back into his mask almost as quickly as it broke. He swallowed noticeably.]

Interesting...

[Apparently, he's not accustomed to compliments. They might have to work on that. So be it, let the blind lead the blind! Rukia faces him fully, hands on her hips.]

What is it I can help you with? I confess that I know little of dating, but if you should need my assistance, I offer it gladly.

Uh... [D bowed his head to her so he could whiskey in her ear.] Not here... Late tonight perhaps when there aren't so many people.

Understood.

[She nods.]

Catch me before you leave, then. We'll depart together.

[D nodded as well before ambling back into the fray of people. He looked pretty uncomfortable.]

[The eternal dilemma of the shy. Poor man. Rukia shakes her head sympathetically before moving back to mingle.]

[As the socializing dies down, Rukia collects her plates and bids good night to Chappopo, then walks to the door. Is the vampire still around? Surely he didn't leave and forget, this seemed important to him.]

Evening, Rukia.

[D's voiced whispered along the wind as he came up behind her from where he sat in the shadows enjoying the moonlight.]

Are you finished with the festivities?

GUH!!!

[She whirls around, a hand on her heart as she shoots him a dirty look. Don't sneak up on her like that! She takes a breath to steady herself.]

Indeed. Must you be so quiet?

[It's not like he can help it, it's part of his job class. Ah, well, she won't hold a grudge. She steps outside, waiting for him to do likewise before walking at his side.]

Are you still troubled?

[Clasping his hand being his back, D started up at the moonlight. His emotions were his own and yet, there were times since entering this world that he found his careful control slipping. It was sloppy. Was this what being a full blooded human was all about? Losing the calm, collective frame of mind that he crafted fit thousands of years? It certainly bothered him, pressed on his mind.

He hardly lost control unless pushed into a life or death situation. And even then he retained it just as quick. The confusion was true torment.]

I'm not sure.

[If she only knew. She'd been struggling with nearly the same problem, and had kept it just as tightly under wraps. It just never seemed necessary to bring it up. But what does concern her is the fact that this man, who offered himself as an ally, is fighting a battle he knows nothing about. Rukia has a feeling this probably runs deeper than 'I don't know how to go on a date.']

Speak your mind, then. Whatever you say will be held in strict confidence, I promise you.

[D stared down at Rukia for quite a while unsure of if he wanted to speak or not. His emotions were his own as were the reasonings being them. Still, she was trying. In the end, he just shook his head.]

The night is beautiful.

[That's all he has to say? Rukia raises a brow, puzzled, and glances up at the evening sky. She supposes it's nice enough.]

Y...yes, it is.

[But what does that have to do with anything?]

[A small sigh released from D.]

Look, Rukia, I'm not good at this. I don't discuss my feelings to anyone.

I can understand that.

[She's had difficulties with such things in the past, so she's sympathetic. He's far more quiet and reserved than she is.]

I won't push, if you don't feel ready. But I am willing to be patient, if this is what you need.

[Rukia turns her head to look up at him. If there's something she can do to make it easier, she's more than willing. She just doesn't know him well enough to guess at his needs.]

I appreciate that.

[He felt bad that he couldn't tell her what was really on his mind, but he couldn't. She didn't even understand how difficult it was to open up even this much.]

[Perhaps she didn't understand it completely...but she had an inkling. She looks up at him again, realizing he's fallen into silence. Rukia shakes her head with a fond smile and a sigh, then reaches up to give him a few light pats on the back. Maybe he just needed the company. She can provide that much.]

[The company definitely felt better to D. Maybe one day he could open up but that was not this night.]
