001 Arrow of Love | Auction Dates
Who: Raven/Rukia & Raven/Zelda
What: Auction Dates in Action
When: Oct 7th & Oct 8th
Where: House B-03 & Balicea
Warnings: None so far.
[ Prompt I ]
Raven thought it fit to spend the date doing something they were both familiar with. It was how they originally met, only this time they would make dessert instead, crepes in particular. He himself wasn't too fond of sweets, but he knew women typically were.
Rukia would hear a knock on the door, though they had scheduled this "date" so she wouldn't be all too surprised to find him at her door step. He wen't through the trouble of gathering the necessary ingredients so they could start right away. Perhaps they would get to know each other, though he was more likely to inquire about her than to share about himself.
Upon opening the door, she would find the gruffy man stationed on the welcome mat, if there was one, with a friendly smile. He carried a bag that had everything they would need for the treat. Raven figured that she deserved something nice. After the display of her determination to win a bid for him, of all people. He didn't think he was worthless, but that brought about a different value.
"Hey there!"
[ Prompt II ]
| BEACH |
It was a tad rainy to fully enjoy the beach, which was kind of a drag since this was the first time Raven had ventured outside of the mainland since he arrived here. He had done a lot of traveling back on his world, and while he wasn't fond of it, he still wanted to know what he was dragged into. He just so happened to use this date with Zelda as a guise to get out in a casual sense, without raising any unwanted suspicion.
At the very least they could enjoy the indoor pools that weren't far from the shore. Raven figured it might be nice for Zelda as well, though she was the one who won the bid. Her intentions weren't clear to him, but he had things in mind he wanted to do, she just happened to agree to them. Outside of their initial contact, he didn't really know her.

During her free time, which was sparse, she leafed through the pages, but so help her she was having difficulty making sense of these situations. Everything seemed so...awkward. Still, she was determined. The next story, perhaps, would have the answers. She read onward, hoping for some glimmer of inspiration. But the hours passed, and she remained clueless.
And so it was on her date of reckoning. Raven was due to show up at any moment, and she was still half-dressed as she pored through the book, unsure if she should really follow the indicated instructions. The girl in the book, who was a sporty tomboy, dressed in gaudy clothes in a desperate attempt to appear more feminine and attractive. Then the guy showed up and took her shopping to pick out the perfect outfit, shenanigans ensued, and it wound up being a perfectly wonderful date. Rukia squinted at the pages...and in an odd stroke of wisdom, she closed the book and stepped back. She was naive and unlearned about the customs of the living, but she wasn't an idiot. This could not be the way things were done.
She sighed, pulling off the frilly dress with the giant bow to fling it on the ground, then she tugged on the purple leggings and loose white toga-dress she'd worn to the auction. If she knew at least one date-related thing, it was fashion and how to dress appropriately for the occasion. (It was a prerequisite for Bleach characters.)
Then there was a knock at the door. Rukia loosened the strands of her black hair from the collar of the dress and hurried down the stairs. It wouldn't do to leave Raven waiting, even if she was still ill-prepared for their date. She could take comfort in knowing that he would not look down upon her for her dating ignorance, at least. He might tease, but she trusted him not to be cruel.
She opened the door to see his familiar face, and smiled. "Good evening," she greeted him warmly. "Please come inside!" ...Should she call him 'senpai?' No, that was ridiculous. Her eyes shifted to the bag he held, and she blinked, curious. What had he brought?

When the door was answered, his smile remained, and he allowed himself in when she welcomed him. He wasn't familiar with any particular customs that his household part took in. His roommate was rather incessant about keeping the place clean. Not even shoes were allowed to be worn within the house. He wasn't a dirty person, but he wasn't that level of neat either. Outside of sleeping there at night, Raven didn't spend all that much time there, and he was unlikely to invite anyone over either. It was more enjoyable to venture out and visit than it was to invite. Yuri only knew where he lived simply out of emergency situations, but even then, his closest contact didn't really come over. Raven spent most of his time outside the house doing various other things (or just napping).
Raven held the bag up so she could see what its contents were. Some flower, dairy, and fruit, along with other small additions including powdered sugar to add to the sweetness. It wasn't meant to be filling, so hopefully she ate before hand.
"Today I'll be teachin' ya how ta cook a treat." It was an important thing to know, one would think. If she were to date seriously, cooking for her beloved. What better way to snare them in after a well cooked meal than a delicious treat? (How serious he was about that was debatable).
"Familiar with crepes?"
no subject
Maybe she shouldn't have worn white, in that case, but it scarcely mattered now. She had her trusty apron, she would be fine.
She waited for him to head to the kitchen before following behind. At least she didn't have to roll up her nonexistent sleeves. "I took the liberty of preparing an illustrated guide for dating. I thought it best to be prepared for any scenario." And she was quite proud of it.
no subject
He set the contents on the counter and pulled them out of the plastic bag that held them. He nudged them in Rukia's direction so they would sit in front of her. Creating the mix was the easy part, it was cooking the crepe without ruining it that was the hard part.
"Wanna mix it together?"
Raven still preferred the hands on experience for her, since it seemed like the most practical way to learn. So when she starts, he would inform her what to do or how much to add. First would be the filling, that way they could set it in the fridge and let it chill while they work on the batter.
no subject
And now that they were away from prying eyes and ears, she felt it was safe enough to pose her question to him.
"What made you decide to place a bid? I'm curious." She already knew it wasn't for the reasons Chappopo suggested, but she couldn't help wondering about it even so. They could have easily spent time together without him having to drop a single gil for an excuse.
no subject
The man blinked for a moment at the question. It wasn't an odd question, but he didn't have a precise answer for it.
"It sounded like it would be fun." The was the honest shallow part of it. And he was very direct when stating so. Raven wasn't always so coy when he had things to say. "We're supposed to be friends," there was a moment of silence, he was thinking how to phrase this. It didn't take very long. "I had to save you from the pain of young love."
Annnnnd then he fell into his joke. To be fair, the blonde haired fellow was a little unhinged. He wasn't sure if Rukia was ready for someone equally naive.
no subject
"It is fun," she agreed. "And we are. You managed to surprise me, even so," she said with a playful bump of her elbow into his arm.
The batter seemed to be the expected consistency, so she stepped back and slapped her palms together to get rid of the flour. "Thank you for looking out for me. You're quite the gentleman!"
no subject
"No need take thank me fer it."
As lazy as he played himself off to be, he did go out of his way to do things. Even though the crisis had been solved in his world, he had inherited more problems. A classic case of "here we go again".
"Let's hurry on the fillin'."
He pulled out a fry pan of sorts that was large enough to accommodate for the batter and set it.
"Start with the strawberries."
no subject
"Do we...fry the berries first? No..." she mused thoughtfully, furrowing her brow. "The ones I ate were uncooked..." Therefore, logic dictated that he must be warming up the pan for the batter! Ho ho, she was no longer a novice! ... Yes she was.
Smiling triumphantly, she used the small knife to lop off the leafy green top and divided each berry in two. The blade danced nimbly in her quick fingers, for she was confident in using sharp tools at the very least.
no subject
"Dice them. The batter for the crepes goes on this."
Usually he did this over something like a grill. Most of his cooking was spent in the outdoors, where it was harder to do it. She was lucky to have this kitchen.
Raven set a few more things out and also a bowl. If they wanted it to be sweet, it needed things like sugar to enhance the flavor. Along with some filling to balance the sweetness. The powder sugar was just for show.
"You'll want ta mix in that."
no subject
It certainly smelled appetizing, the mix of the sugars and the tartness of the berries. The chunks she cut weren't perfectly even, but they were close enough to be passable.
"What's your favorite food?" she asked as she worked. There was still much she wanted to learn about him, and this seemed like a nice, safe question to start with. Perhaps some day in the future she'd learn to make that dish and surprise him with it as thanks for his culinary lessons.
no subject
"I don't have any favorite foods." He admitted. Even worse. "I don't like that many dishes." He doesn't even like the dish he's helping make now. It was sort of let down, but he won't lose any sleep over it.
"I'll still teach ya how ta cook them."
no subject
...He was worried about his weight?
No, she thought with grit teeth. It just wasn't something he took pleasure from personally. And yet, he had such a talent! He must have worked hard to get as good as he was, and he'd offered to teach her too.
She set down the knife, her expression thoughtful.
"You learned for the sake of others, then," she concluded, regarding Raven curiously. "You're very thoughtful." She'd already known he was kind, given his reaction to her apology, but she didn't realize just how deep that kindness ran.

The only thing she was curious about was why he let Yuri offer his services to others.
The last time there had been a beach trip Zelda was too busy to come. Even if she couldn’t get into the ocean she was planning to swim and relax. She brought her pink bathing suit with her and she’s tied back her hair so that the strains of gold were lifted from her neck. Since it was a trip she didn’t dress up more than usual. She brought a few dresses, all of which were cute sun dresses that she’s worn around Crystallis but she aimed to pack light, fitting everything into a small bag that fit over her shoulder.
“What do you want to do first?”
Zelda turned towards Raven with a wide friendly smile. She’s partial to swimming but she wanted to make sure that Raven was fun too. Her blue eyes were bright and she looked as if nothing was going to get her down during this trip.

He was comfortable in his own clothing, rather, he wasn't very comfortable flaunting his Hermes Blastia that functioned as his heart for any and all to see. It was the kind of thing he wanted people to know, and his friends only found out by chance. Raven might have confessed down the line eventually to them, but he wouldn't have done so so soon.
"I'm just here ta appreciate all the bathing suits these women picked out." Well, that was a lie (not a complete lie), but one to thwart him having to participate. "Yers looks great!" Zelda was an attractive women, he couldn't deny that.
"Did ya have anythin' in mind?" Raven had a list of things he wanted to do, but not all of them were date worthy. He was reserving his more private motives for when they weren't together. Since he didn't think they would spend their entire time together.
no subject
"Behave. We are not here to get into trouble." Zelda was sure that Raven was the type to either get slapped or leave a trail of broken heart behind him. Either way she did not to confront someone that he might be leering at during their trip.
After that was settled she smiled and brought her hands down to her sides. Zelda shook her head keeping her expression calm. "I thought we could go swimming but if that's too taxing for you we can go out to dinner." This area was bound to have nice places to eat and she wasn't very picky.
There were a few places she planned to visit without Raven as well though she was hardly going to keep that a secret. She's been here before and she knows her way around. Specifically a doppelganger that she knew lived nearby. It had been awhile since she visited.

"I got it." Verification that he understood the consequences of their situation. He didn't want to get in trouble, much less get her in trouble with him. "I was only jokin'." He confessed as he shaped up his stature momentarily.
She may have not been sharp with her actions, but her words were fine. He could feel the cut of the emphasized word. Beauty truly was deadly.
"A good meal sounds nice." Though she would eventually find out he was kind of a picky eater. His menu was small and he had very few preferred foods. It was a wonder how he got by? Most of the time was because he sucked it up and ate foods he disliked anyway.
"So have ya been here before?"
Raven tossed a beach ball at her. He won't play in the water, but there were other things he could do.
I get to finally use this icon!
Bright crystal blue eyes looked over at him with a smile. “What are some of your favorite foods?” She didn’t know that he was a picky eater but she assumed he knew what he did like. She knew of a few places around but most had seafood since they were so close to the water. She wasn’t as picky with food, though she preferred things that were fresh and not fried.
Zelda caught the oversized ball, a light laugh leaving her lips as she raised it over head to toss it back. “I have.” She had been to almost every city in Crystallis.
Yay!!
"I don't have one." He stated simply. He could cook and he would eat, but it didn't mean he loved it. Raven was strange, however, and a lot of it had to do with his background.
"What do you like about this place?"
Yay!!
"This place?" She looked at him curiously wondering if he was talking about Crystallis or this particular city. "This place is very different from my home, it's a lot of new experiences for me." Until he asked a more specific question she won't really be able to answer. She liked this city because it was fun, she liked this world because it was away from her destiny and her fate.
"What about least favorite foods?" She smiled an excited smile, determine to at least get something to then decide where to eat.
n_n
"Not many people seem take be familiar take this kinda world."
A least favorite food now? Well he actually had an answer for that. Multiple answers even. Raven wasn't fond of several dishes. "I'm not much of a fan for sweet foods. I dislike a lot of things." He'd have to provide a list.
>.<
"Nothing sweet. Anything else?"
It was really interesting that he disliked so many foods but didn't have any favorites. Her head tilted to the side, her hair falling over her shoulder as she moved.
no subject
"Too many things." Like sorbet for instance.

"Well, I haven't met to many people with worlds common to mine. I think that people are what gives a world it's personality; since people are everywhere then there are bound to be similarities. I'm sure others have share similar ideas to my own so why can't they in other worlds?" It might be a little off topic but it was where her thoughts on the matter took her. She would often sit and think in circles about this sort of subject matter.
With a smile Zelda turned towards Raven. "Okay, how about sweet breads? Or Fish? Or salad?" She will continue to ask him about food until she gets an idea of what he likes though they might end up missing dinner time at this rate.
no subject
"It's not that important."
He didn't really want to talk about it. Despite not liking a lot of food, Raven would eat it anyway. Granted in lesser portions, but he wouldn't starve himself just because of his preferences.
