#3 | [Event Log] Night of the Thirteen Moogles

Characters: Sephiroth & OPEN [Event-log]
Where/When: As titles below.
Summary: At first, there is nothing happening with Sephiroth. He has lost the ability to call forth on the power his Jobs granted him; still believing his weakness might be a sign of impending stasis, he has kept up his training regimen/study at the Library as if there is nothing wrong - but he hasn't been monster hunting; that would be suicide. Until the morning of 18th October, and it all shifts dramatically-
Warnings: Specifically in #3- Worsening exhaustion/flu-like symptoms leading to character death on 28th October

#1 - 18th October: House A-02 / Around Aqures Ixen
As if being dropped in a dream, eyes shot open as if he had hit a concrete floor. A sharp twitch along every cluster of nerves down Sephiroth's spine was so sudden it was almost painful. He lay there as still as possible and yet somewhat out of breath, unfocused vision picking out patterns on the ceiling that weren't really there. It was still dark, very early in the morning. He must have turned awkwardly in his sleep, it wouldn't surprise him at all - just something else to add to the near-constant aches and pains of some variation that had come to define his existence in Crystallis. No pain no gain.

If not for the dull humming of the flinch that didn't just fade away. Quite the opposite, it quickly blossomed outwards in every direction and carried an intense crackling of energy along with it. Like a high-adrenaline shot but so much more. His pulse began to race, there was an instant ringing in his ears and a bitter lump quickly formed in the back of his throat. Sephiroth forced himself to both swallow and blink as the Mako infused deeply within his entire being all lit up at once as if a switch was thrown on. It was all too much energy in one go and the noise of shock that he made was completely involuntary as his body was thrown into something of a rapid seizure. All muscles clenched and he crushed his eyes closed as it wracked his entire frame.

Minutes passed, but it felt like hours before Sephiroth looked around the room in the loudly humming afterglow. A light green, smoking outline danced along the edge of his skin as he pulled arms out of the covers and forced himself to get up. He could see Spencer across the room, still fast asleep in his drawer of a bed - completely oblivious. Mako- He thought as, still only in the shorts he slept in, Sephiroth shakily strode out onto the landing. His throat was intensely dry, a common side effect but nothing a tall glass of water wouldn't fix. As for the abundance of energy that danced through him, well, he wouldn't be going back to bed. He really should have been more aware of that top step though; the heavy sound of a body crashing down the stairs ripped through the early morning gloom of the house-

"Kupo!" The startled noise of a woken moogle followed.

Later, all equipped and more ready for anything than Sephiroth had felt since he arrived in Aqures he took the opportunity for an extended patrol around the Districts. All lethargy he felt was gone, all lingering aches from over training and even the recent sprain to his sword hand was as if it had never happened. No trace whatsoever of his early morning tumble. It was chillier out than recently, but it didn't bother him at all; pride swollen in his bearing once more and plain to see in how he carried himself. Whatever had ailed him, it was over now and he was returned to how he should be. This was how he could be a Hero.

It felt good, never mind the light tiredness which hung somewhere in the back of his mind, what could he expect from such a sudden rush.

#2 - 19th October: Aqurean Forest
Bodies of blackened, still-smoldering Ochu littered a small path of destruction towards a small clearing where Sephiroth fought off the remaining two of them. The ailments that they would usually cast were short lived indeed; sleep couldn't touch his energized state, and poison was countered immediately with Esuna - a magical haze of green obscuring Sephiroth from view momentarily when it was cast.

He smirked widely and cast his final two large fireballs outwards towards them. Thorny arms flailed and the monsters screeched as they fell limp. Good. His Fire materia hadn't depreciated at all for the months it had lain inactive. There was no sign at all of the armor his Jobs had required him to equip, only his signature silver and leather, as Sephiroth stepped out of his battle stance and turned back towards the tree that Spencer had opted to sit and watch up in; nodding once to the moogle that the coast was clear again for him to come down.

"Who would've known, Kupo, that you could use crystals to cast magic like that." The small moogle commented as he hovered down, checking something off on a list. "But don't you think we should head back soon- we have come quite a way out and we should get back before it starts to get too late."

"Don't be scared, Spencer. I can handle it."

#3 - 25th - 28th October: House A-02
A few days prior, Jessie had told him that he wouldn't last until November. At the time, Sephiroth had brushed it off, being only afflicted with the lightest of sniffles. The only reason he had gone to Jessie at all was due to the impossibility of him developing a cold in the first place, considering the return to his Mako-infused state and not to mention - Sephiroth had never fallen sick to the common cold in his life.

Oh how he rued that notion now. If anything, he was beginning to wonder if the Mako were heightening the virus that had him now bed bound and miserable.

Sephiroth couldn't move very much, or with very much strength at all without intense pain flaring up in all his joints. His nose was a faucet that couldn't turn off, and recently all of his sweat glands begun to act the same way as well; running a fever whilst wrapped up in two blankets and yet still shivering. What was a tickly cough now felt as if it were shredding his windpipe every time he erupted into an unannounced bout of coughing and though Sephiroth felt exhausted, he didn't dare allow sleep to take him.

Mako-gleaming green slitted eyes peered over the top of sheets pulled up right to his chin, at anyone who would dare to enter his room. He really should have considered that lock while he was still well, couldn't they all just leave him to die in peace?

"Your mothers-" He placed an extra emphasis on the plural, needing him to hear it and try to understand. It had been quite the reveal when he found the notes, and remembering how he and Angeal had never been engineered to such perfection had made him wanted to scream. "-are in one form but not in another."

Every breath was a fight. Every movement was a battle. It hurt but Genesis wasn't going to let Sephiroth see the pain. He wouldn't give him that satisfaction even though there was a slight hitch in his voice, a slight offness about the way he hold himself. Yes, the posing was still there, but he was also clearly holding himself to ease the stiffness in his limbs.

"No, death would not be easy for ShinRa's mothers."

"A point? You want my point?"

Despite the pain, the seeping grayness that was his disease rotting him from the inside out, Genesis still had a knack for fire magics. There was no need for any materia or extra push, only the sudden hiss as flames started dancing in the palm of his hand. He smiled, and raised his burning hand, the flames casting a false sense of color across his skin.

"My point is that they told us all lies. All three of us were grown to become what we are, and they were never the kind of people to tell us who really were our parents."

"Failed us? Do you really think that they cared?"

Why couldn't he see it? Why did he cling to ShinRa and it's rotten core? Was it really blindness over the experiments or have he just never seen what happened when the mutagens reacted badly when introduced into a new person? Greed and hunger for knowledge without the benefit of compassion, that was all he seen when he looked at the higher ups of ShinRa and it's dodgy scientists. Let them talk about a higher purpose; Genesis knew that they were only out for themselves and the three of them - him, Angeal and Sephiroth - were the toys meant to bring them closer to their goals.

Nothing more, nothing less.

"They killed your mother to bring you to life. They took pieces of something that destroyed the Promise Lands to make all three of us, but you were the only one that didn't come out flawed. I have this rotting flesh; Angeal grew into a monstrous form, but you... Oh, you..."

He couldn't finish it, not even now. He had love Sephiroth as a hero and a friend. He had wanted to match him, but the more he learned about Project G and Project S, the more he wanted to cry. What were they really, even this far away from the Goddess of his dreams? Monsters? SOLDIERs?

Genesis flung his hand wide, sending flames at Sephiroth even as he leaped up, his wing catching the air as he twisted. A change in his direction and he was diving down, sword first.

In madness, there was a kernel of wisdom. How much of what he was spewing, he knew that there was a truth in it somewhere, not that he could think past the searing pain and the rising urge to just shove that smugness down Sephiroth's throat. That he couldn't articulate it was fine. Genesis would just have to wait until he could explain it, though that was a hazy thought lost in the anger and pain he was feeling now.

The ground buckled where he hit, his sword buried deep and his wing curling inwards. He glanced up, saw the foot coming his way and wretched his sword free. Flinging himself back, he felt the brush of his foot, and snarled as a glint of steel came towards him. Genesis flung himself back, gaining mere inches and brought his sword over to block Sephiroth's.

"There's no Angeal here to stop us," Genesis said softly, and his wing lazily flapped. "This is no Training Room."
