WHO: Rukia Kuchiki, OPEN!
WHAT: A group of adventurers sets out to find themselves some new feathered friends, as well as spend time together camping out and battling monsters. On the last day, the adventure is capped off with a battle against a chocobo eater.
WHEN: November 7th - 9th
WHERE: Calm Plains

OOC NOTES
There will be two threads for each day: one for mingling, and one for fighting monsters/encountering chocobos. The encounter schedule is listed below. Assume encounters A-E happen in the daytime, and F-J happen at night. We can assume that most of the encounters are handwaved, so if there's one you'd love to play out, start a thread with the encounter listed in the subject. Example: Day 2, Encounter X: Five Hamsters.

Note: We will not find five hamsters. No one is allowed to die horrifically in this fun-filled expedition.

Some chocobo captures are reserved for those who signed up, and have been marked accordingly. You can claim one of the encounters on this list, if you like. And if you're a new character, you can join too! Either assume Rukia mentioned it to them and invited them along, or PM me and I'll have Rukia meet your character in the intro log if she hasn't already.

[Fai was quick to attempt to steady the two he had with him and thanks to Big Yellow being awfully use to monster encounters was the most calm of them all. Making sure to keep a good grip of the other Fai was already studying up the monster before them. Pulling out his gun he was already set on attacking it should it get any closer.]

Whatever it is, I don't think it's here to be friends.

[Rukia's chocobo flees. For a moment she looks torn, not wanting to lose the companion she fought so hard to catch, but she can't ignore the bigger threat at hand. Grrrr... She'll just have to try again, she supposes. For now, the other birds must be defended.]

Fighters to the front! If you can heal, move back, we'll need you if it manages to break through us!

[Rukia runs toward the chocobo eater with a loud shout. It draws back its hand and swats her, sending her flying through the air with a sickening crunch. Her small body hits the ground... And vanishes. The real Rukia is behind it, her blade biting into the back of its squat legs.]

It's a chocobo eater!

[Yuna's faced one before though that had been in Spira. She brings her fingers to her lips and whistles summoning Celes to her side. The little moogle plops down on her new chocobo and looks out at the daunting creature.

She hasn't been able to teach her chocobo any moves besides one and she hopes to let Celes benifit from it.]

Celes stay in the back and heal those who need it.

[The little moogle nods and the chocobo walks him away from the fight but still within range of those fighting. Yuna has dancer equipped so she begins dancing hoping to blind the monster.]

[Keeping Big Yellow steady he moves a little forward, his guns out and holding them up. However before he fired he put one away before using his Scholar Job and using Mad Scientist on everyone for the moment. That should help a little bit as he pulled out the gun again and fired.]

[Rukia's expression is one of alarm as Yuna names it. Then her eyes narrow. She understands that the laws of nature dictate that some animals eat other animals. It's part of the life cycle. But as it's going after the chocobos that they've worked so hard to befriend, it cannot be allowed to succeed. If it flees, she won't chase it. But so long as it intends to harm their animals, it must be destroyed.]

[The chocobo eater rounds on the hero that's dared to attack it from behind, taking a swing at her. Rukia jumps back, but she's getting close to the cliff's edge. She gives it a brief glance, careful to keep it in mind, as it would be embarrassing to die from a fall she could have easily avoided.]

[It swipes at her, and she leaps to the left, and it tries to take a bite out of her with its large, flat teeth. Then Yuna's dance falls like a dark veil as it staggers back, blinded and bewildered. It swings its massive arms back and forth, and this time Rukia can't dodge it. A glancing blow knocks her off of her feet, and she skids over the grass nearly over the ravine. Her sandals knocks off a few pebbles, sending them dancing down the cliff's edge.]

[As Fai's bullets punch into its thick hide, it roars, and starts charging the clustered heroes and chocobos to swing a powerful punch.]

[Ector had ducked away, though unlike Yuki was still in sight. Ray himself had stuck towards the back as asked, though he only had the one healing spell. What he did have was a small collection of ranged attacks, and he used them now, firing a proton stream from his Particle Thrower.]

Eat hot protonic death, ugly!

[Once again, Ven's current Job set-up is less than ideal for the enemy he's facing, and for a moment the fearful excuse he'd offered to Rukia last week -- that he could potentially just be in the way -- comes back to make him doubt his presence here. But while he won't be terribly useful on the offensive right now, he knows what he can do, and that's what he needs to focus on.

Sora also shifts uneasily right before the monster appears, and tosses his head once it's within sight -- but he doesn't run, doesn't try to toss Ven at all. This bird nearly died once for his rider's sake already, and completely of his own will, so the loyalty there will take more than instinct or a jump-scare to shatter it.

After some comforting words to his mount to ease the tension, Ven starts rapidly casting Haste on his allies, starting with those closest to the Chocobo Eater and moving back.]

[Ray's attack slows the chocobo eater's charge. It raises a meaty arm to ward off the intense discomfort of the particle thrower, but this close, it can smell the delicious chocobos, and it starts to slaver.]

[Rukia pushes herself up to her feet, ignoring the pain of her scrapes and bruises as she picks up her sword and runs after the chocobo eater. She nearly trips over herself when she sees that the particle thrower can actually hit the monster.]

It's effective against things that aren't spirits?!

[Had she known that, she would have stuck with the Scholar job after all! Next month, perhaps. She shakes off her awe, and with Ventus's help, her speed doubles. Vaulting high, Rukia grasps the katana with both hands before slashing at the back of the chocobo eater's head. Had it been a Hollow, such a devastating blow would have vanquished the fiend.]

[Instead, it just gets annoyed.]

[It whips around, momentarily distracted from the party as it shakes off the shinigami. Before she can hit the ground, it catches her, its enormous sausage fingers nearly engulfing her in its palm as it brings her toward its gaping mouth. It would prefer to eat a chocobo, but it doesn't mind taking off the head of an irritating little human.]

[Fai was quickly to try and distract Chocobo Eater by moving in much closer, his gun raised as he prepared to fire once again, this time aiming to get him to let go of the other and instead turn it's attention on him.]

[Yuna's dance doesn't seem to have enough of an effect on the beast so she switches to a different tactic. She takes a deep breath and takes the whip from her side. She only grabs it when she's summoning one particular pet from her beast master class.

She focuses and a dark cloud appears to rise in front of her. The monster taking form though covered by a familiar midnight black cloak. Even if the Reaper had killed her when they fought it she used his abilities now.]

Please, Help us.

[Her words were soft as she set the Reaper forward, its sight set on the chocobo eater and hopefully it'd attack him instead of the chocobo's.]

[With Rukia caught by the monster., Ray's particle thrower is holstered, It's not exactly the most precise weapon, and Ray doesn't want to accidentally hit her instead of the chocobo eater. Instead he decides it's time to try and use a little magic.]

Here goes nothing!

[With that, he casts Fire at the elbow of the arm holding Rukia, trying to get it to let her go.]

Rukia!

[Fire, is it? She can lend her strength to that. She casts Fira twice, one aimed for each elbow, and reaches for her blade, eyes on Rukia.]

[Ever smelled barbecued chocobo eater? It isn't pleasant. It balks at the barrage of flame spells, the Fire and Fira both leaving big black burns on its mottled skin. It makes wild swipes at Hades, retreating another step. One of Fai's bullets hits it in the mouth, and it shrieks with pain and anger as its arm jerks back, yanking Rukia along with it.]

[It wants to crush all of them, for standing between it and a veritable buffet of chocobos all right there in front of it. It starts to clench its fists, preparing to lunge and swing at the Heroes.]

[The pressure this puts on Rukia's body is tremendous. The bones of her slight frame begin to creak in protest, and she grits her teeth with a strangled noise of pain.]

[Suddenly there's a flurry of white feathers as Yuki launches herself at the chocobo eater's fist, pecking viciously and raking it with its talons.]

Kwehkwehkweh! Kuh~WEH!

[The chocobo eater makes a swipe at the white chocobo, but she ducks, ruffling her feathers before stabbing at its fingers with her beak. It's enough to make it drop Rukia as it tries to grab for the bird with both hands. Yuki dances back with a disgruntled chirp, hopping from left to right until Rukia can get back to her feet. Once she does, the chocobo turns her tail on the chocobo eater and kicks dust at it.]

Kweeeehhhhhhhhh.

[Furious, the chocobo eater makes a lunge for her, but Rukia interposes with her katana, bracing the back of the blade with her other hand. She pushes back with all of her strength, arms trembling with the strain, before it finally retracts its arm.]

Drive it back! If we can push it off of the cliff, it might do enough damage to kill it!

[OOC: Round after next will be its defeat, so feel free to go all out.]

Celes!

[Sitting atop Yuna's new chocobo the little moogle rushes forward. He has a little paw in the air as he casts Cura on to Rukia. As quickly as the moogles comes in to cast he's turning around with the chocobo kicking up dust as it makes it's great escape. Yuna makes a note to train the chocobo for the beast master class as well.

Her eyes then move towards The Repear which was slowly moving closer to the chocobo eater. It attacked using a dark form of energy that shined purple and black.]

[Fai moved in closer on his Chocobo, knowing full well that Big Yellow could get away quickly so he could get in close enough to fire up close. All the while Big Yellow look determined to be able to attack if the need really called for it, but they had been comfortable for the other to do exactly that.]

[ With the rest of the group strictly focusing on the offence, Ace decides to follow with a Barrier spell cast on all of his companions just to be sure. Though he's not overly fond of depending on reins, for once he can't deny their merit in easing the process of communication between him and Suzaku, who proceeds to attack the foe in short, violent bursts as the cadet on his back gathers the energy for a Fire spell of his own.

It's not often that an encounter paints his features with such rage, and there's an unusual protectiveness to his hold that almost makes it seem like he'd rather walk into the Eater's mouth himself before he allows the creature to as much as touch the Chocobo, let alone hurt his companion. Which would not be far from the truth, after all. ]

[As the barrage of Fire spells slams into the monster, Ven casts Slow on the thing and then brings his Chocobo around to the left, circling wide as far out as he dares. Then he throws out the hand that's not on the reins, focusing intently on the remaining space of land behind the Chocobo Eater's bulk. This is tricky, he's found, so he has to wait until just the right moment--

--and when that moment comes, once the others have pushed the monster back far enough, Ven clenches his fist and casts Combustion -- not on the Chocobo Eater, but on the cliff face a few yards down. Earth and stone explode, too far down the ridge to be a danger to his allies, but more than enough to weaken the structure under the beast's enormous weight. Hopefully that will catch the ugly thing by surprise and help in pitching it over the cliff for good.]

[Fire appears to be what works, so Ray tosses another bolt of Fire, this time aiming for the legs.]

[The damaged tissue and cracked ribs begin to mend almost instantly as the magic healing washes over Rukia. She turns to the Moogle offering a lightning quick salute of thanks, as she'd sorely needed that. The chocobo eater makes a swipe for Celes and the chocobo he's riding, but the two are much too fast for the frustrated monster, who was now warding off a blast of dark magic right into its hideous face.]

[With so many chocobos darting back and forth, its greed is overwhelming its small brain. Which should it grab? It lunges for Fai, then gets distracted by Ace, and back to Fai again. There are just too many options, and its Blindness isn't helping much.]

[The Slow spell turns its movements sluggish, and it rumbles a deep bass roar as, from its point of view, everything else seems to speed up. Furious it bashes its fists onto the ground, trying to upset anyone who gets too close. That includes Rukia, who tried to sneak in another strike with her katana, but is forced to retreat to avoid turning into shinigami jam.]

[With this, the ground beneath it weakens even further after Ventus's spell, and with an upset bellow, it starts to teeter on the brink. It can't seem to regain its balance, especially when it has to ward off the barrage of Fire spells on its legs to knock it even further off balance.]

[With those fists, a melee attack seems illadvised- and of her spells, K'pandolu associates the ice-aspected ones with weight the most.]

Let this carry you down.

[and this time she casts Blizzara.]

[This time Fai moves back slightly, controlling Big Yellow with ease in avoiding attacks and this time he figured with his scholar job equipped he could at least use spells like the others. So this time he simply casts Elemental Tomes of the wind varity to see if that could knock it back a bit.]

[That little bit extra seems to be enough. The chocobo eater teeters perilously, enormous arms windmilling in a bid to keep its balance. But it's too late. The earth crumbles beneath its weight, and in a howl of rage, it disappears from sight, with a few heavy meaty thuds marking its descent all the way down the canyon walls before crumpling into a smelly heap far below.]

[Heaving a sigh of relief, Rukia sheaths her sword. Whether it's killed or not...and she suspects it's quite dead...it's not going to be climbing back up any time soon. Her attention turns to Yuki, and she utters quiet words of praise as she strokes the bird's feathered neck. Yuki closes her eyes and bows her head, cool and calm.]
