Chocobo Roundup

WHO: Rukia Kuchiki, OPEN!
WHAT: A group of adventurers sets out to find themselves some new feathered friends, as well as spend time together camping out and battling monsters. On the last day, the adventure is capped off with a battle against a chocobo eater.
WHEN: November 7th - 9th
WHERE: Calm Plains

OOC NOTES
There will be two threads for each day: one for mingling, and one for fighting monsters/encountering chocobos. The encounter schedule is listed below. Assume encounters A-E happen in the daytime, and F-J happen at night. We can assume that most of the encounters are handwaved, so if there's one you'd love to play out, start a thread with the encounter listed in the subject. Example: Day 2, Encounter X: Five Hamsters.

Note: We will not find five hamsters. No one is allowed to die horrifically in this fun-filled expedition.

Some chocobo captures are reserved for those who signed up, and have been marked accordingly. You can claim one of the encounters on this list, if you like. And if you're a new character, you can join too! Either assume Rukia mentioned it to them and invited them along, or PM me and I'll have Rukia meet your character in the intro log if she hasn't already.

[Rukia chuckles. She didn't realize just how varied these encounters would be, nor was she counting on the vividly different personalities expressed by each of the birds. This one, she believes, seems to like Ray well enough otherwise it would have ditched him long ago. It just wants him to prove himself.]

What's your plan? I can circle around to the opposite side, if you wish.

See that outcropping over there? [Ray was referring to the cliff that was carved into the side of a small hillock not far off]

I think, if I come at him from the front and you come in from the right, we can back him up until he has only has one way out. And then I can get on his back when he tries to bolt.

The idea seems sound.

[She looks at the broken hillock and nods. Yes, it's easy enough. Riding the chocobo will be another matter altogether, but she's sure he'll manage that with his sheer determination.]

Very well. Let's do it.

[Grinning, Rukia angles herself to the right, edging closer and closer toward the cliffside.]

[Ray creeps forwards, slowly, slowly, slowly, until the chocobo's backed up against the cliff. When it finally notices what's happened, it bolts to the left, just like Ray thought. Ray barely manages to grab on, being dragged several yards through the dirt before managing to climb on.]

YeeHAH!

[The chocobo tries to buck him off, but Ray's hanging on, straight up laughing at this point. Anybody who does what the Ghostbusters do on a daily basis has to be a least a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and Ray's certainly getting his fix right now.]

Pffft...! Ah ha ha ha!

[This is just delightful. Rukia has to hold her stomach as she laughs at Ray's enthusiastic and pure joy. It's refreshing, and he seems to be having such a wonderful time. She lifts her hand up and waves to cheer him on.]

[The chocobo runs, hopping and bouncing around like mad, but Ray hangs on like a limpet. Finally, he apparently decides Ray's proven himself, and stops, allowing a boyishly grinning Ray to direct him back over to Rukia.]

Wow! What a rush. Almost wasn't sure I'd be able to keep hanging on near the end there.

[Ray pulls some Gysahl Greens out of one his flight suit's many pockets, and hands them over to the chocobo.]
