Player Plot: The Mysidian Tower!
Who: Everyone who signed up for the plot!
What: Jade is taking a team to explore the Mysidian Tower before it'd swallowed by the Calamity.
When: February 8th-12th
Where: The Mysidian Tower on the Continent of Ruin.
Warning: Everything that can be expected of surprise monster encounters. Beyond that, whatever people bring with them.
The Enterprise brings everyone involved to the tower on the afternoon of February 8th. Thankfully the early floors have already been cleared by previous explorers, making the initial entry easy and relatively safe. Once the Heroes start reaching the upper floors, however... Who knows?

Friendly Monster - Morning of the second day [Open]
Jade stares down at the feathered raptor, unimpressed. It’s obviously injured, but is that any reason for it to act like a sad puppy?]

And it's not his own leg that's been trapped, so he might as well step a bit closer, shooting a puzzled glance in Jade's direction. ]
... What do you think?

Try scratching its beak...er...snout. It might like that. [He suggested. He started rifling through his pack for a healing potion. Either the not-chocobo would need it, or Jade would.]

[...it's been awhile since Robin has seen one of these. But, still. She stares -- then she smiles, before she looks sideways at Jade.]
Being gentle is best.

If you all are sure about this.
[She remains tense as the group decides to go on the nonviolent route. She keeps her time mage spells in mind, ready to hinder the raptor should things take a turn.]

[The idea of a raptor liking pets doesn't feel right... but then, neither did the hamster with the booming voice back in Aqures Tosf. Do these monsters develop bizarre traits to make up for their lack of aggression?
Jade scratches the creature's snout. The raptor makes an odd noise that's somewhere between growling and purring. Because of course it can somehow purr.]

She feels as if she has seen everything now that she's seen Jade petting a raptor.]

He knelt slowly and rolled the potion bottle in Jade's direction. He tried to keep his motions slow and nonthreatening to keep from spooking the not-chocobo.]
Heal it, and then maybe you can befriend it. [Because adopting an animal companion in the middle of enemy territory was a thing that happened. One just had to make sure they did not lay eggs everywhere.]

As much as it tempts him to reach out his hand, he's not going to risk disturbing the injured one, either, which leaves him with the decision to move into a crouching position and observe the course of events more closely. To be honest, he couldn't care less if his staring makes Jade feel uncomfortable. ]

[ Evidently it later elected to get their attention in a more direct way... And when did Minato get so close-by? Who knows, but it seems like he's been paying enough attention to the flow of the conversation. ]
What do you say, Jade-san? [ He idly waves his healstaff, a clear enough show he was also offering. ] I wondered if they might have friends around so I didn't do anything, but I guess if they were hungry they would have bitten someone's hand off by now.
no subject
Only humans were foolish enough to do that.
She at least offers Minato a nod, agreeing with his assessment.]
And it if thought us a threat then it wouldn't have walked right into the middle of our group like this.
Try it Jade.

[She nods after Mary speaks.]

[He picks up the potion and cautiously uses it on the raptor's wounds. The beast perks up a bit, beating the ground with its tail--
and happily flops on its back, head still pinning down Jade's leg.]
Oh, for heaven's sake.

It seems to have taken a liking to you. Perhaps if you feed it and give it a name, it will accompany you and fight by your side.
[Stranger things had happened on the battle fields of Ivalice.]
no subject
There's someone else who can take it in, isn't there? [ Because she's seen Jade with one of their monster companions. And human companions. ]
no subject
Perhaps it requires some more time to fully recover.
no subject
Either way, it'll probably get bored sometime. I'm gonna go check on our medical supplies again. [ With that disinterested shrug, he starts walking off to another part of their camp. Good luck waiting it out. O7 ]

[...Robin says it with a smile but she might just be giving Jade shit.]
no subject
As tempting as that is, I sadly lack the Beastmaster Job. Although...
[His expression slowly sets into an unsettling smile.]
I could think of a few interesting uses for a raptor. Live food, hmm...?
no subject
Before you plan too much, we should see if it can subsist on rats...or perhaps geezard meat.... They are plentiful enough, and keeping their population down would be a public service.
[Because if the raptor has a taste for anything larger or more sentient than that, there is no point getting attached.]
