Player Plot: The Mysidian Tower!
Who: Everyone who signed up for the plot!
What: Jade is taking a team to explore the Mysidian Tower before it'd swallowed by the Calamity.
When: February 8th-12th
Where: The Mysidian Tower on the Continent of Ruin.
Warning: Everything that can be expected of surprise monster encounters. Beyond that, whatever people bring with them.
The Enterprise brings everyone involved to the tower on the afternoon of February 8th. Thankfully the early floors have already been cleared by previous explorers, making the initial entry easy and relatively safe. Once the Heroes start reaching the upper floors, however... Who knows?

Rows of containment units fill the rooms, holding within them things that bear a resemblance to robots. They are all mechanical, some of them gripping weapons – blades, staves, guns – while others seem to have weapons built directly onto their appendages. Some are outside of their containment units, lying still on the floor. Most are roughly human-sized, but the further up the Heroes go, the larger the mechanical monstrosities get.
Thankfully, they’re all inactive, and in any case their mechanisms must be immensely old. It should be safe to proceed… shouldn’t it?]

[That was not the point of what he said at all, but as Minako looked around, she had wanted to say something.]
But ones gotta ask what is the point of all the robots? Sure probably to fight but these look like they could fight an army or something.

There are a couple of soldiers with him, this time, but most others are on previous floors securing ground, helping to complete more exploration or back on the ground floor keeping camp.]
Hm.
[He agrees with Minako's comment, but keeps to himself his own thoughts on what exactly a mechanized army could have been kept here, for...]

She stops at a fallen one by the containment units, crossing her arms as she looks them over.]
Something or someone was being kept here. And this looks like some sort of jailbreak. Whatever they were keeping here they needed something equally strong to guard it.
[She frowns as she looks for any sign of what it may have been. At least it doesn't seem like it's still here...maybe.]
no subject
Do you think that something is still in here?
[Considering how trashed the first floors were it might have left.]

[Jade kneels down to study one of the humanoid machines. It's not easy in the dark, even with his magic giving off some light.]
It looks like most of them have run out of power rather than been outright destroyed. I doubt there is anything living here after all this time, but... Let's proceed with caution, just in case.
[At least, there doesn't appear to be anything stopping them from making their way up... Though the darkness is making it rather annoying to find the stairs.
Should they look for a light switch, perhaps?]
no subject
[It was a guess on her part either way as she kept walking. She had no idea what to do or even where the light switch was really.]
no subject
Who knows. Just from the looks of this place though, it's been powered down for a significant amount of time.
[Perhaps it might help them to know one way or the other, though; proceeding with such caution in the dark like this only makes progress slower. Sephiroth slowly turns his torch upwards, towards the ceiling, in an attempt to make out what sort of lighting this floor might have if they were to find a way to turn it on.]

[She looks around cautiously, mentally prepping a spell just in case they need to fling themselves into action. She keeps her eyes on the shadows, not watching for specific shapes but for motion. If something is there it matters more that they knew it existed than what is is.
Still Jade and Sephiroth do seem to have a point. Even if something has escaped it likely happened so long ago that hopefully it was no longer alive or functional.
But then, with Precursor artifacts who could ever tell?]

When it comes to old stuff... it probably will turn on and then yield nothing useful.
[That's just what she's used too.]

[Walking past the unmoving machines, they do eventually run into the next set of stairs. It's cramped and steep enough that climbing up in little more than torchlight is a test of patience.
Up on the next floor, there is a sense of empty space, suggesting the room is quite large. Still no windows for any light to come through, and the torchlight doesn't reach far.
What they do see near the top of the stairs, however, is the next elevator. At the moment it's quite useless... unless they go around it to the small generator in the back and restore the power to these floors.
What next?]
no subject
So...we have an elevator, which we should turn on... Any volunteers?
no subject
Comparatively the sense of open space spreading out from them on this floor is like a red truck in its difference. The fact that the torchlight doesn't reach very far into the room either, delivers a sense of unnerving. As they spread out, Sephiroth turns back towards the stairwell and shines a light onto the wall where one might expect a light switch to be.
Running the light along the wall it's not long before the elevator box comes into view.]
Has anyone engineer equipped? It might prove to make this quicker...
[Still, he's striding towards the elevator, with the intent to check out the generator anyway with the two soldiers flanking behind him by a few paces. If anything was to dive out of the darkness, there are plenty of eyes to see it.
That darkness though...]
no subject
Afraid not.
[She moves to stand by the generator, giving it a good look over, but she's not about to mess with it herself.]
no subject
The good news is that there are no legions of mechanical puppets coming to life anywhere in the room.
The bad news is that a hulking lump of metal that had appeared to be merely a part of the wall is now vibrating, causing dust to come cascading on the floor, and slowly starts rising, unfolding itself until it looms over the Heroes. Light flickers in the two small eyes at the top.
Emitting a low rumble, the Iron Giant finally reaches its full height and raises its enormous sword.]
Well, well. [Jade steps back and quickly casts Enlightenment on everyone.] This should be fun.

Doesn't stop him from dragging his gaze across the vast space that has appeared before them as his eyes adjust and soon fixating on the Iron Giant as it unfolds itself from where it had been part of the wall nearby.
Enlightenment would have been his first call, as part Scholar, but Jade seems to have beaten him to it this time and so instead Sephiroth takes a couple of long, steady strides away from the generator so that he has ample room to unsheathe his katana. It's shorter than Masamune but he's long since learned the knack of re-adjusting his style for a shorter range.
Stretching out into a battle stance, Sephiroth only glimpses down the line of Heroes who might have formed to battle the Iron Giant, before launching a first-
Power Break - sings along the edge of his sword as he darts in for the first strike; even a glancing blow would lower the physical power, at least. Make it less of a risk for everyone.]
