Red Lion is Coming to Town (December Posts)
Characters: Keith Kogane and Open
Setting: Histrical Center (Library), Airship Port, Out Hunting Monsters
When: Month of December
Summary: Keith is new to Crystalis, but after a few days of walking around and wrapping his head around the weirdness of his new home it's time to get his feet wet. Getting money is always a good place to start in a new town, and fortunately the local airship port accepted his past garrison training. There's still the actual test itself to pass, but surely learning to fly will be easy considering all his advanced fighter pilot training, right? There's also trying to get a hang of this new magitek knight and engineer job. If he's going to live in this world he's going to have to fight in it. He's heard about this monster arena that's looking for new stock. Even if he's new to this world, he's no stranger to fighting. He knows how to deal a beat down.

[3] It's Calamity Monster Season
To go along with this new resolution, he'd decided to go and try to help with this monster arena problem. Apparently some old man was requesting monsters to stock up this arena he had with. Not only did the arena provide training for adventurers, it also helped to clear out the countryside to make it a little safer for the people to travel. Apparently there was a surplus of the things hanging around. Now Keith was new to this world, but he was no stranger to fighting monsters.
A perusal of the bounty board had led him to select a poster for something called a cockatrice. It had five stars and was described as fairly weak but extremely dangerous to those traveling alone. It seemed a good target to test himself against. He was new here, and didn't have the bonds that others had to fall back on. If he was to help save this world, he'd have to know he could defeat enemies like this on his own. It was also fairly dangerous, so even wounding a few of them should prove beneficial to the countryside. He'd gotten lucky and found some tracks that lead to one of the creatures. That was the only good look so far.]
Kid, DODGE!
[The small puppet barrel rolled to the side, just in time to avoid the beak that sent cracks spiraling in the hard earth. With it's prey missing it turned beady red eyes back up to regard Keith, who stood on the balls of his feet ready to dodge the next strike. It was the only thing he could do so far, not able to get a scratch in. With a cry of frustration he charged again, only to have to veer off course as it shout another strange cloud from its beak. He didn't know what it was, but something in his gut told him he couldn't afford to let it touch him.]
Re: [3] It's Calamity Monster Season
Hey- get back-!
[Someone has seen Keith charge and then attempt to veer out of the way of the smog that the Cocktrice spat at him; Sephiroth knows exactly that attack and has more than a handful of times had a close-call himself. Having to wait for a petrify to subside is a dangerous lag of time to have to be forced to take; all the while the monster can just keep pecking away at you. Hence the warning about hunting them alone.
Rushing in from the left of the bird, Sephiroth twists himself at the last moment and kicks up and hard into the side of the white ball of feathers. Knocked a couple of feet well off balance, the cockatrice squarks, annoyed - but at least it cut-short the petrification smog.]
no subject
[She knows she shouldn't be surprised to find Sephiroth out here as well. Where there's a military outpost, the silver-haired soldier isn't likely to be far behind.]
Stand clear! Spells are incoming!
[She waits until it's safe before nodding to Chappopo. The cheerful Moogle looks deadly serious now as she twirls into the air and throws her paws forward.]
Meteor, kupo!
[A hailstorm of flaming boulders punch through the sky, rocketing into the crystal-coated monstrosity, but the assault doesn't end there. A Red Mage's spells aren't as strong, but she can cast two spells back to back with no difficulty. Watera washes over the abominable bird, followed by a shock of gold light from Thundara.]
