Monster hunting
Where: Calm Plains
When: February 3rd-7th
Summary: Monster catching silliness
Warnings: none
{The monster arena sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun, so Bartz is excited to contribute. Over the next week, he can be found on the calm plains, monster catching equipment in hand. He set off to do this on his own, but he'd certainly welcome any help people wanted to give. Feel free to run into him wandering around, or even join him against...}
[A Buer perhaps? Actually it looks like he's got this one well in hand. The creature is angrily flapping around him, firing it's confusion beam, but can't seem to land a hit.
A few days later, he can be found fighting a Mandragora. Actually, it looks like he could use a hand against this one. It's horrible scream seems to be really throwing him off.
And someone should definitely warn him about that dancing frog he's looking at. There's no way he should be taking on a Touch Me solo at his level. Although it's entirely possible he just plans on watching a dancing amphibian because he's bored.
Or maybe you just want to congratulate him on capturing a Geezard? Or not. Because let's be real, anyone could catch one of those things. At any rate, he's caught one and is dragging it back to the monster arena.]
Mandragora
She ran towards the shrieking cry of the creature surprised to find Bartz already there. She looked back at Celes trying to shout over the annoying screams. "Celes! Fire!" The little moogle casts burning the plants leaves but not killing it.
"Bartz! Are you alright?"
Yuna jogged up to his side watching the creature as it reels back to fight. She had run into these once before with others and was sure that they could handle it.

Bartz takes a few steps in her direction, shaking his head as if to clear out the ringing noise.
"For a little guy, that thing sure is loud. Can you distract it for a sec?"
Without waiting for an answer he jumps. The Dragoon class is sort of mixed bag. Jump is a great attack, but it does take a bit longer than a normal one. Meanwhile, the mandragora readies a poison attack.

The spell sent a wave of green mist over her and she decidedly pushed Celes from its path. She fell to her knee feeling the effects of the poison as her gun trained on the bouncing creature.

Bartz finally comes back down, directly on target, slamming the creature into the ground with the fore of his landing. The mandragora twitches several times, but is too injured to do much more. It looks like they caught this one.
"Heh, close one. I think we almost killed it..."
But he trails off as he notices her sickly pallor.
"Hey, are you okay? Did it get you with that poison stuff?"

Yuna would make it back to the town easily but without something she probably shouldn't fight. Celes went through his bag pulling out what she needed and handing it over to Yuna.

At least her moogle seems prepared. Bartz should probably think more about supplies when he goes adventuring. He offers a hand to help her to her feet.
"Anyway, we got him. Were you out looking for monsters for the old guy too?"
no subject
"That's right! I was hoping to catch monsters." She sounded excited enough though in truth she wasn't sure where to start. There were so many and she didn't even know all the kinds. She thought to ask Baralai but she felt a little awkward around the monk.

"Great! That's what I'm doing. We should look together."
Two people could probably catch twice as many monsters, right? And honestly he thinks it would be more fun with company.
Kuposthenes doesn't count, because all he's done today is sit on Boko jr. and complain about everything. Bartz is increasingly convinced that his moogle has never even heard of fun.

Celes fluttered next to her not wanting to put in any input. This adventure didn't involve Blitzball or girls so the little moogle was bored and he still didn't appreciate being Yuna's 'pet' in combat."
"How about... that way?" She pointed over towards the chocobo farm but at the further end, away from the town.

Honestly he would have been good with any direction. After securing the unconscious mandragora, he motions for Boko jr. to follow him. The chocobo warks cheerfully and trots over next to him, rubbing his head on Bartz's shoulder in hopes of receiving some neck pats. It works. When he turns to her, he's suddenly remembers something.
“Hey, before I forget, can I ask you something? Are you the old Yuna or the young one?”
no subject
Yuna's head tilted to the side her gaze fixated on Bartz. "Why do you ask?" She didn't really consider herself old but then so many of the heroes who were brought here were so young.
no subject
"Cloud said there were two of you. And that one of you was older"
Tact is not one of his strong points. And it genuinely has not occurred to Bartz that this might be considered rude.
"I was just wondering which one you were."
no subject
She looked back over at Bartz. “Did you know the other Yuna then?”
no subject
"Nah, I wouldn't even have known there were two of you if Cloud didn't tell me."
Still, as tactless and inattentive as he is, even Bartz can see the change in her demeanor.
"Hey... Are you okay?"
no subject
"I think you would have figured it out if you saw us both at the same time."
They looked slightly different but Yuna understood the confusion.
"Anyway, we should get going right?"
no subject
Bartz falls into step behind her. He's pretty sure he said something wrong, but for the life of him he can't figure out what it was.
Well, as long as she's not too worried about it, it's probably okay.
"So I already caught a Geezard, and we just bagged that mandragora. What do wanna try for next?"
