Sewer Quest
Characters: The Heroes of Light who signed up for this player plot
Where: Sewer system underneath Aqures Ixen
When: The morning of October 15th to evening.
Summary: The Barkeep is concerned what may lurk in the sewers. He and the other Heroes of Light will investigate and travel as deep as possible in search of monsters and hidden rooms.
OOC notes: This event is being modded by me, but for the most part, dungeon puzzles and random monster encounters are run by players. OOC discussion can be found here and monster information here.
The only entrance large enough for a human to fit through lies in the 11th District. A trickle of sewage flows out of the gateway, and when one enters, there is a brick walkway on either side of the tunnel. From time to time, a bridge connects both sides of the tunnel, allowing someone to cross the stream without fear of stepping into garbage. The walls are lined with dim lights, and raw sewage bursts in from pipes in the walls every five minutes.

Re: Feel free to NPC monsters too!
Then the aura shifted and a creature of pure malice leered down at them from the far tunnel. D's eyes followed it. He hasn't encountered it before but the aura was menacing. Shifting, the mechanism on his back, he started calling up any Necromancer magic he might now. They needed to rid themselves of this threat and fast.]
[OOC: Decided to give us a Wraith.]

I am all right.
[Just disgusted with that particular ghost. The sooner they move on, the sooner they can leave and shower. Just as she's weighing the benefits and consequences of casting Water at herself, she notes that D has gone tense. She can't see well in the darkness, but her PKE meter definitely doesn't like what's up ahead.]
What is it?
[The reading is a new one to her, she's never encountered a Wraith before. Rukia brings up her particle thrower, and leaps to the other ledge so they aren't in single file.]

kidouspells?! It might be the most dangerous foe she's encountered yet. She squawks as D snatches her back from the danger zone, momentarily stunned.][But only momentarily.]
[Before the dhampire's feet touch the ice, Rukia's expression has changed to harsh determination as she turns her blaster on the wraith and unleashes a proton stream of bright energy. She might not have been able to see well before, but being a ghostbuster sure does make for an impressive light show.]

D gasped but didn't pull the ice out. In Crystallis he was human, even if he held the Vampire Job. There was no telling if he would bleed out like a human too.]
Damn...

Bringing her fists up as the icicles come for them again, she tries to partially interject herself between it and Rukia without being caught in her line of fire and punch away the shards of ice.
Other than cutting her knuckles on ice, she easily dodges, and deflects anything coming at her, but the rest of the fight is on Rukia's tiny shoulders.

Her eyes narrowed, her determination focused on the Wraith as she shifted her stance to better hold her ground. The power of the particle beam thrower rocked through her arms as she hit the switch, bright sparks dancing over the stream of energy that plowed into the Wraith at full force.
It howled with anger, fire dancing in its skeletal fingertips, but Rukia wasn't having any of that. "Get back!" she shouted, running forward as it hurled flames at the very spot where she'd been standing. She kept her weapon trained on the ghost until she saw its form flicker. Cradling the particle thrower in the crook of her arm, she unhooked the trap and threw it out, before stomping on the pedal. Screaming with rage, it clawed at the walls and floor trying to find purchase as it was sucked inside, and sealed away.
A tiny light blinked on the trap, and a hiss of oily smoke, indicated that it was safely contained.
"Honestly, a thing like that down here, what did it think to accomplish?" she grumbled, putting away her weapon and sliding the trap into its proper place on her pack. She turned to face her companions. D's injury probably needed attention first, so she approached the dhampire with her hands raised toward the spike of ice.
"We'll need to snap that in half and push it out before I can cast Cure," she said, her voice softening. "Will you be all right?"

The large spire of ice likely needed to be dealt with as well, and for the time being Allenby was okay leaving D to be tended first, as she kicks and smashes the icicles, breaking them apart so they're no longer a threat, of much a sign of battle; like clearing a path through a jungle.
"If something like that is here... there's probably more like it. Maybe I should've listened to that weird masked jerk." she grumbles.

As a vampire, Cure won't work as well in me but I will not reject your offer.

[Rukia smirks, and holds up her hand to cast Cure. It would be nice if she had something stronger, but she's still got another month of experience to go before that can happen. Even if the spell doesn't work quite as well as it should, it still has some effect, and they can afford to be patient.]
[Once the wound has closed, she turns to Allenby, although what the girl says gives her cause to be puzzled.]
What masked jerk do you speak of?
[Have some Cure spells, Allenby.]

As Allenby's knuckles are healed, she squeezes her hand as the blood clears and the wounds close up.

Catching a flicker beside him, D snatched the rat from the ground and brought it to his lips. There was a squeak as the vampire bit and sucked the blood of the creature. As if on cue, the skin of his shoulder knit itself together. Once the skin appeared smooth and new, D set the unconscious rat down.
He didn't kill the creature this time. Didn't need to and he knew that in this world, it wouldn't transform into a vampire. D made sure of that, watching one victim once. It got up and walked away as if nothing happened and retained no memory of his attack.
Straightening, D glanced at both Rukia and Allenby.]
Shall we continue?
no subject
[She understands the necessity of it. She does. But it's still unpleasant to watch. At least he's healed now. As they move along, Rukia drops back a pace so she can keep talking to Allenby. What the girl said is more than frustrating to hear.]
I would think our job selections are somewhat personal. Who was this person, and why were they so insistent that you change? You handle yourself very well in a fight.

His eyes swept through the tunnel from side to side, readying himself if another ghost decided to attack.]

"Or they really really were just campaigning for everyone to be a Ghostbuster. Like they knew something else about it. But... I think we might've been in more trouble if I had been." she nods.
Seeing D have to consume, at least to a degree, the rat made her shudder, for her, it was a first. She had a mild flashback to the Devil Gundam, but... it wasn't a total correlation.
"So, where to now? You've got the little ghost hunter thingy..."

Rukia paused at the intersection, uncapping a marker and drawing an arrow to indicate which way they were turning, then continued onward. The PKE meter was quiet, so if they were to encounter anything further, it wouldn't be a ghost.

She didn't exactly feel up to jumping on one and engaging in a little sewer surfing. That would be too gross.

ALlenby takes a deep breath.
"Well... no harm in giving it a try." she shrugs. Taking a deep breath, and making full abuse of Bullet Time to react to and navigate the floating boards like some weird real-life variant on Frogger.

When she reaches the other end, she'll find more passages, all leading somewhere away from where she entered.

Taking a moment to mark the walls again, Rukia eyed the passages with mild interest. "Shall we start with the one on the far right?" she suggested.
no subject
The right is fine.

"So... was it just me or was it odd that there's two different currents flowing here?" she asks, taking one last look at the video-game antics going on.

It couldn't hurt to test it out. She crouched down and marked one swiftly with her sharpie. If it floated past them again, she'd have her answer.
