Event || The New Year

Characters: Anyone!
Where: The Enterprise.
When: The Night from December 31st to January 1st.
Summary: A Ball aboard the Enterprise, for well-dressed (mostly) Heroes of Light and their friends who want to dance and (especially) eat for free.
Warning: Nothing.

While the passing from a year to another isn't as big of an event as the Starlight Celebration, it is no reason to pass up an ocasion to celebrate and have fun. There are fireworks in all major cities and various activities to enjoy. Noticeably, there are gatherings of people in Aqures Ixen and Trano Golsaucia in particular, if only to conclude what is one of the most celebrated week in the year, and wish to each other the best possible year to come-- Though most people are worried about what's to come soon. After all, the end might be nigh with the Calamity about to take over the planet...

To celebrate this, the Heroes of Light have all been invited to stay aboard the Enterprise for a particularly prestigious and animated Ball. Indeed, the Enterprise will from Aqures Ixen and go all the way to Mysidia at midnight-- This way, New Year is going to last even longer than normal thanks to the magic of timezones.

There are tables with foods for everyone to eat and of course, music for people to dance together if they so wish. There is also a consequent number of chairs lined up, for all those who refuse to dance or are too awkward to do so.

Sparks Nevada | open

[Why what's this? It's the marshal, out of uniform and dressed up in a suit for the ball. He's even come cowboy hat free (but not cowboy boot free). He knows how to dress up for occasions, it's just that the Heroes didn't usually have occasion to do so. They had a lot of parties, but nothing ever too fancy.

Sparks had to wonder about his own dancing skills, though. It's been a long time since he has. He can't even really remember the last time he had. Maybe this was a bad idea after all. For now, he'll stick to the drink table. He was off tonight. Technically. Mercury was on board in case he had to get away for work, but his coworkers all but locked the office doors behind him as they forced Sparks into taking at least one night off.

He'll raise his drink in greeting to anyone who might come his way.]

So, this is my second new year's here. Can ya even believe it? I can't. Where'd all that time go?

Your second new year here?

[Yugi couldn't help but be surprised, even though probably deep down he really should be at this point since he arrived not to long after the new year. A month or two at least.]

Is it still odd being here then?
red_planet_blues: (huh.)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-05 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah. Very. Can't believe I'm still stuck on this rock.

[Sparks sighs a little and takes a sip of his drink, but then shrugs.]

Buuut I'm tryin' not to think about it. Just keep movin' forward, y'know? Just gets hard not to think about it when a holiday rolls around.

[personal profile] sizedoesntmatter 2016-01-05 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
I can agree with that.

[He had been thinking about a lot himself lately, which he knew here was never a good thing. But he figured once he was hard at work again at the lab he should be fine.]

Work will help with that at least.

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-06 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, sure does. [Says the infamously married-to-his-job sort.] Then again, ain't like there's always a lot goin' on when things aren't, y'know, gettin' all weird. Like they do. So workin' is good. And parties. This gang really likes their parties.

sizedoesntmatter: (68)

[personal profile] sizedoesntmatter 2016-01-06 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
They do, though honestly, I am not at all use to them myself.

[Sure he had get togethers with friends back home, but never parties. Still was a little odd that he still goes to this type of thing even not being use to them.]

But trying to do something different is a good thing.
red_planet_blues: (grin)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-08 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, this is different. This is a fancy dress party. Those we don't usually have. [He grins a little as he sips on his drink.]

And I do plenty here that's different than back home. Y'know, like living a life without electricity. Or interstellar travel. Or lasers. So basically, like, living in the dark ages.
sizedoesntmatter: (44)

[personal profile] sizedoesntmatter 2016-01-08 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
This is the dark ages?

[He didn't think it was that bad, after all he managed to adapt to this place without what he was use to at least.]

I guess you sound like your more advanced than my world since you mention lasers and such.
red_planet_blues: (wait what)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-09 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
[When you're from the year 3014, darn right this place is like the dark ages.]

Maybe? The only folks 'round here don't even come close to comin' from the same time I do, or so I've found. Except, like, the people I know from back home, of course.
sizedoesntmatter: (206)

[personal profile] sizedoesntmatter 2016-01-10 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess different worlds and all it's like that.

[He puts a finger to his cheek to scratch it lightly. All worlds were different after all, so he knew for a fact there were going to be many differences. However there was one thing he was curious about.]

Can I ask what games are like in your world?
red_planet_blues: (intense talk)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-11 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)

Huh? Games? What kinda games? Like the board game kind or the video game kind? [That's a hard thing to compare. Were they that different from world to world?]

sizedoesntmatter: (33)

[personal profile] sizedoesntmatter 2016-01-12 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Any and all... it... is a bit odd to ask, isn't it. I.. just like games.

[He gave a nervous laugh, looking away. He felt awkward even asking it now. Maybe it had not been the best idea after all.]
red_planet_blues: (stop being dumb)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-13 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
'S just, y'know, a broad category is all. I mean, we got all 'a those. I ain't ever got much time for it. Was always fond of sims, myself. Though last time I tried it out, the AI went haywire 'n stopped doin' what I was telling it to do.

[He frowns remembering that incident, but refuses to go into details about exactly what it was he was doing with it. It was pretty embarrassing.]

Got so bad that a Troubleshooter picked up on it and had to bail me out. Which is okay by me. Troubleshooters 'r great. They're so cool.
sizedoesntmatter: (100)

[personal profile] sizedoesntmatter 2016-01-14 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
So you have a game that has an AI? That's not something I've got back home, so it sounds pretty cool.

[The more he is talking about it, the more he appears to be smiling.]

Though what is a Troubleshooter?

forcegalactic: (yay no trouble)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2016-01-04 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, can't believe it either. [The Barkeep has forgone manning the bar at this party - bartenders have been hired for this event, and after the chaos of New Year's Eve at the Space Saloon, this poor old man needs rest. And booze. He has replaced his Seer robes with a well-fitted vest and dress pants that almost resembled his outfit from home.

He raises his glass in response.
] Here's to a better year filled with less trouble than the one before.
red_planet_blues: (idk what to call this one)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-05 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'll drink to that. [Sparks raises his glass before knocking the rest of the booze back.]

One 'a these days I'm gonna get us off this rock. One 'a these days.
forcegalactic: (HUGE POTATAHS)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2016-01-05 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Barkeep knocks back some of his and rests the glass on the counter. It's not as strong as Sparks' drink, but he hasn't turned down one offer so far at this party. For all the responsibility he takes while bartending, tonight is the night he's free to get drunk. Which he's planning on happening.]

Sure, sure. That's the plan, ain't it? You're the Marshal, we're all superpowered, we can do this. [He claps his hands together a few times. Just gotta focus on teamwork, win the game, save the world, am I right?
red_planet_blues: (wat r u doin)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-06 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Sparks's seemingly endless confidence had been understandably shaken in his time here. Not just because of everything they've experienced, but thanks to the fact that so many of his own plans have gone nowhere. Especially that particular one about going home.

Still, he plays it off like it's nothing.]

O-Oh, yeah, totally. I mean, it's just the end of the world. Ain't nothin' I can't handle. Been handlin' it here for over a year now as it is. Piece 'a cake.
forcegalactic: (dum dee dum)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2016-01-08 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[If Barkeep was a little more sober, he would have done something about Sparks' blasé attitude about going home. Prod more, question it. Instead, he rests his back on the counter, drops his head, and raises it again.

It's a decent attempt at a nod.
]

Which is--which is why you and me are gonna work together. Right now. [point] After the party. We're gonna adventurin' and figure aaaall this out. Been a while since I last went on one.

[Sitting around his saloon for months didn't help him overcome his homesickness, but a chance of pace would. He was stronger now than during the invasion, which meant less chances to be grievously injured. Absolutely.]
red_planet_blues: (another neutral one)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-09 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Right now. After the party. [Sparks repeats those words, flat as a board, wondering for a moment what's going in Barkeep's head. Oh right, the booze. Sparks grins a little.]

Barkeep, if'n you can even find the door to get outta this party once it's over, I'll be right behind ya.
forcegalactic: (why is there trouble in this place?)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2016-01-11 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
'Course I can! [At this point in time.] I'm-I'm just enjoyin' the atmosphere; don't you think I can handle a few beers? Yeah, I can do just that.

[He grips his empty glass.] And to prove how well I can control myself, see me hold this glass and this bottle and not drink. Self control!
red_planet_blues: (stop being dumb)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-11 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)

It ain't the booze that yer not drinkin' that's the problem, it's all that booze ya already drank.

'Sides. I'm starting to think I ain't drank enough tonight. [Cuz you are blitzed, Barkeep.]

forcegalactic: WM/IL looks like a Christmas sweater (Common sense activate!)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2016-01-13 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Now, don't you worry 'bout me, Sparks Nevada. I'm gonna be fine, ain't like I got no understandin' of my limits! [He jerks into a straight standing position.] You go around and have your fun, I'll go have mine.
red_planet_blues: (ready to draw)

[personal profile] red_planet_blues 2016-01-15 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. You do that. Go fetch yerself a real tough monster 'n come on back. We'll mount its head over the mantle in the Space Saloon.
forcegalactic: (thinking)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2016-01-15 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
No, no, not over the mantle. [He wags his finger.] What if it falls and catches on fire? Even if the place has been fireproofed for the most part, that's till trouble, which I do not want none of. Besides, it'll look all gruesome and unwelcomin', like my saloon's the place for brawls and hunter-types.

The Space Saloon is meant to have a friendly atmosphere, Marshal.

Now, my home? That might work, and I doubt Ramza's gonna be scared of a head. Heck, better yet, I can sell it and make a fortune!
