Event || The New Year
Characters: Anyone!
Where: The Enterprise.
When: The Night from December 31st to January 1st.
Summary: A Ball aboard the Enterprise, for well-dressed (mostly) Heroes of Light and their friends who want to dance and (especially) eat for free.
Warning: Nothing.
While the passing from a year to another isn't as big of an event as the Starlight Celebration, it is no reason to pass up an ocasion to celebrate and have fun. There are fireworks in all major cities and various activities to enjoy. Noticeably, there are gatherings of people in Aqures Ixen and Trano Golsaucia in particular, if only to conclude what is one of the most celebrated week in the year, and wish to each other the best possible year to come-- Though most people are worried about what's to come soon. After all, the end might be nigh with the Calamity about to take over the planet...
To celebrate this, the Heroes of Light have all been invited to stay aboard the Enterprise for a particularly prestigious and animated Ball. Indeed, the Enterprise will from Aqures Ixen and go all the way to Mysidia at midnight-- This way, New Year is going to last even longer than normal thanks to the magic of timezones.
There are tables with foods for everyone to eat and of course, music for people to dance together if they so wish. There is also a consequent number of chairs lined up, for all those who refuse to dance or are too awkward to do so.

“Minato? I’m so sorry.”
Her voice was soft and she took a step back allowing him to step through the door first. Her long white dress swept the floor while as she moved.
Terra didn’t question Minato’s silence or attire; she didn’t question why he was here or why he had been heading outside. It wasn’t hard to tell that he wasn’t really enjoying himself either though Terra wasn’t sure she could bring him comfort. Her heart just wasn’t in the party and while she had been feeling joyous a few weeks before, that warmth had been sapped from her countenance.

He seemed a bit sheepish from this realization, but it's only for a second. Minato stops in his tracks too, and in the end the both of them are standing there from when their paths crossed.
It was strange seeing everyone dressed up... but in the end, Minato wanted to try treat this day like any other. --Wanted to, but evidently couldn't, now that he didn't only have himself for company. Plus there was all this swirl of things on his mind...
He makes an attempt at least, at small talk.
"So... you're not heading in where the crowd is? Or did you just come from there?"
no subject
"I'm headed towards the deck. It's... a little to loud."
She had a lot of things on her mind as well and she wasn't sure how to put them into words. With a nervous glance towards Minato she stepped outside and then waited to see if he was also heading that way.
"Are you enjoying the party?" Terra asked softly as he stepped through the door.
no subject
It probably wasn't anything new, among all the things that Minato thought was obvious about himself, his preference for peace and quiet was something he imagined was blatant enough to even those who barely knew him. He'd passed on attending most parties, too... It was fine and good if people enjoyed that thing, but he could never spend prolonged periods within them.
"Mm." Minato shook his head, deciding to be honest. "I didn't really come here for the party."
no subject
"Why did you come?"
If anyone had asked Terra that question she probably wouldn't be able to answer.

He accompanied some distance behind her, until she found a space that she was satisfied with staying in.
Minato sounded unsure still, which indicated the ineffectiveness of his plan. What with the previous times he was on this ship leading to getting bad news and falling miserably ill or other, he was starting to jokingly wonder if it only ever brought him misfortune. Still, he couldn't bring himself to hate looking around when it was less crowded, or its view.

"How were the flowers? Did people like them?"
Per his request they had remained anonymous.

Minato was fond of the patients he'd gotten to know, and remembering them made him exhibit one of his rare smiles. He was still fearful for the Calamity, but these smaller victories overcoming against sickness and death still had to be reason to celebrate.

Terra's smile widened slightly before her gaze was pulled towards Aqures where a collection of brightly colored flowers burst into the night sky. Fireworks are already starting which means they have a few hours where midnight will linger into the new year.
"The fireworks."
She looked over at Minato. "I also thought they looked like flowers."
no subject
He's never been overly fond of much of anything, and that included watching fireworks. But with company to appreciate them, they're much nicer, aren't they? Even if they were works of art that disappeared in merely an instant.
You had to cherish things while they lasted, Minato supposed.
"They're pretty. The ones who crafted them must have done a lot of work."
no subject
As seconds lingered Terra pulled herself from her thoughts and shook her head.
"I'm sorry. I don't think I'm very good company tonight." Her bright blue gaze seemed dimmer than before, if Minato were to notice such things. "I've been feeling a little strange lately. I thought the party might distract me."
Except it hadn't.

It was part of his being a nurse too, but he was indeed naturally observant. Minato decided to save his words about not being the best person to hang around with in itself, seeing as for now Terra seemed to need a different type of reassurance.
The least he could do was listen. But if he could do more, he would take that opportunity.
no subject
“I don’t know.” Her words were quiet while her bright watery eyes cast out over the sky. “Lately I’ve been feeling troubled. Maybe it’s just because it’s been so long.” For her it’s been a year since she woke up here and she still didn’t want to go home.
no subject
He doesn't look at her while he says that, not intending to put any pressure. Then Minato spoke further,
"Even if it's things like being confused, or the way to say it isn't clearly lined up in your head. It's okay."
no subject
“When I first woke up here I didn’t want to go home. I still don’t want too… I like it here and I don’t think there is a place for me back in my world. At the same time I want to help save this world and all the others. It’s very conflicting.”
She almost wished she could just go to someone else’s world.
no subject
"Ah... well you know, emotions are complicated things." He'd often thought sometimes, people were better off without them, but in his heart he knew that wasn't true. Minato faced the fireworks as well, before going back to watching Terra's expression.
"I don't think that's a bad thing to consider not wanting to go home, either." He nodded. "Isn't 'home' supposed to be where you're happy? That just means there are things that make you happy, here."
no subject
"Then this would be my home." Her voice was soft indicating the world they were in now. After a moment she turned to look towards Minato and meet his gaze. She looked sad. "You and everyone I've met here... it isn't like my world."
She cared about everyone so much and she had no idea what to do with those feelings.
