Event || The New Year
Characters: Anyone!
Where: The Enterprise.
When: The Night from December 31st to January 1st.
Summary: A Ball aboard the Enterprise, for well-dressed (mostly) Heroes of Light and their friends who want to dance and (especially) eat for free.
Warning: Nothing.
While the passing from a year to another isn't as big of an event as the Starlight Celebration, it is no reason to pass up an ocasion to celebrate and have fun. There are fireworks in all major cities and various activities to enjoy. Noticeably, there are gatherings of people in Aqures Ixen and Trano Golsaucia in particular, if only to conclude what is one of the most celebrated week in the year, and wish to each other the best possible year to come-- Though most people are worried about what's to come soon. After all, the end might be nigh with the Calamity about to take over the planet...
To celebrate this, the Heroes of Light have all been invited to stay aboard the Enterprise for a particularly prestigious and animated Ball. Indeed, the Enterprise will from Aqures Ixen and go all the way to Mysidia at midnight-- This way, New Year is going to last even longer than normal thanks to the magic of timezones.
There are tables with foods for everyone to eat and of course, music for people to dance together if they so wish. There is also a consequent number of chairs lined up, for all those who refuse to dance or are too awkward to do so.

It really had been something he figured out from the many times he did it anyway.
"By being distracted it's easier to not think about something. If that make sense."

Minato exhaled, and continued to absently trace his finger along the edges of his mask. He normally wouldn't say so much to a stranger, and a kid at that... but he found himself continuing anyway. Maybe company with a new person really was comforting, in its own way. He didn't feel as self-conscious as he normally did, about his relation with another...
He faced the younger boy.
"At the same time, it's not like I want to put it aside, and forget that it's happening. ... Did you hear about the things that Sage in Mysidia said?"
no subject
"I know people wouldn't want to and well... one doesn't have to. But it's nice to not think about it every now and again." he paused once more before shaking his head slightly.
"I didn't hear anything about that... Was I meant to?"
no subject
He exhaled. It's alright, he could do this. Be impersonal but also considerate of its gravity, and understand when or if he protests.
"We actually can die here. And if we die here, those from home will also pay the price for it."
His gaze remained fixed on Yugi's, already worried about what further things he should even say.
no subject
"I knew death was a possibility... well I didn't actually, but I assumed. But... I would have never thought it would mean other people pay the price because of it." It was pretty big really. It made him realize that maybe him fighting and being on the front lines might not be the best idea. He wasn't that good after all.
"I guess that's why you are out here. thinking about that."
no subject
Ah, he had let out too much while he was being bitter; Minato shook his head, muttering to himself. "What a joke."
Crystallis had a way of ruining his plans, but he had never experienced anything on this scale. The holidays had managed to keep him preoccupied with things for a while, but now it all felt like a massive waste of time. But he couldn't say this to everyone who was cheerful, that would've been unfair to them working so hard to keep up the morale of a world in grave danger.
"It's one of the things, yes... The other is... something I can't remember."
no subject
He had sat down quietly for a moment, just letting things go through his mind before looking over at him slightly. "Something you can't remember?"
no subject
In short there probably is no one easy way to go about this--but that much probably should have been clear since the day they first arrived. Many would have to reevaluate their concept on life and death here, once he sent out the Mognet letter with this information as he planned to sometime after the next batch of Heroes arrives. This would not be the happiest knowledge to earn so early into their stay, but it was better than letting them be in dangerous ignorance.
"Something like a forgotten promise to a friend, or... maybe an anniversary?"
Minato put a gloved left hand over his heart, then clenched his shirt.
"I don't even think it was that long ago. Am I imagining it...?"
no subject
"I... can't really say if you were or not. But by the sounds of it you don't really remember, so it's hard to tell, I guess."
no subject
And each time when it came to Crystallis, there seemed to be more questions that sprouted alongside the answers. This place and their fates being tied to it really were more trouble than they were worth. He sighed with an apologetic look to Yugi.
"... I'm sorry, this probably doesn't make sense. When we..." He swallowed, struggling to truly be optimistic about this. In a way, it was obvious he was just saying it without really believing. "... win... What do you think you'll do? Head back home?"
no subject
Trying to give a small, he knew full well wasn't genuine for the moment he spoke. "Well... if we do win. I think I would. I mean... I have friends back home, but yet... I've made friends here as well... But who knows what will happen anyway."
Who knows. He never thought he would be saying something like that.
no subject
He didn't mean to get all this philosophical on a poor kid, but there didn't seem to be a proper exit point now. Minato felt rather guilty for that. Leaning against the railing, he watched more of the distant fireworks burst into a cheerful splash of bright colors. These people had no do-overs on if they made mortal mistakes and knew full well their world may be dying and yet they celebrated. Minato couldn't tell if it was more inspiring or... confounding.
"It'd be nice if they could still be this happy."
There is a wistful expression on his face. Minato stays quiet for some more moments, before murmuring. "We should... do our best."
no subject
Another firework flew up into the air and exploded in a burst of colour and noise. he was sure there were people inside making sounds at it happened. He, himself wasn't paying that much attention to them.
"That's... why I think people tried so hard to make people happy during the holiday season. So... with that in mind I know full well I will try my best."
no subject
Hmm.
... Ahh, I'm really not good at this.
"That is..." Minato started, "Probably the best way to show strength too."
He turns to Yugi with a nod, not entirely sure how he got all this philosophical with someone he was meeting for the first time, but might as well end on a good note. "Make your friends proud."
no subject
"I will do... But until we have to again, we can just enjoy all of this, or at least try. Don't you think?"
no subject
Though still having an air of aloofness to it, Minato's tone isn't as cold as it was earlier in the evening. And now the kid was smiling--good, he felt somewhat at ease he wouldn't be The Boy Who Ruined New Year's.
Following that he scratched his cheek, still somewhat sheepish at how close he cut that.
"Ah... don't you want to go find your friends? I'm sure you must have some on board."
no subject
"Plus parties this huge while I've been to a couple are till pretty much something I can only do for a certain amount of time. What about you? Are your friends here?"
