[Isshin is certainly quite the character. His sense of humor is odd to say the least, but it's clear how much he loves his family. It makes her wonder sometimes what her own father must have been like. Probably nothing at all like Ichigo's dad.]

Perhaps you could give him chocolate on Valentine's Day as well? Match him at his own game!

Are you kidding? No way. When he's trying to force me to take the chocolate he's also trying to kick me into a wall. Even if I did he'd go on about some manly bonding bullshit and still try to kick me into a wall or the table. Who even does that?!

Appeasing your elders doesn't necessarily make you crazy. I think you would make him very happy if you played along just once. After all, it won't be much longer before you leave for college, correct?

[Ichigo hasn't given that much thought in what feels like a long time. All things aside, this hero business, rescuing his friends and stopping Aizen... It really isn't that far away. With a resigned huff he goes to the sink for a moment to wash his hands before returning to his station to start the eggs. The sooner he's finished the less he has to potentially put up with Yuri or Raven giving him a hard time over something small when they get up.]

It's as normal as it's going to get. Even after everyone's safe and Aizen's taken care of there's always going to be Hollows around going after souls that can't defend themselves.

[Rukia shoots him a sharp look. It's not cruel, nor condescending, but she's not about to brook any arguments on the matter. Besides, he'll lose his ability to detect or even see spirits. He's not going to have a lot of choice in the matter either way, so it's best to prepare him for that now.]

Unless you're in a rush to die and join the Gotei 13 officially, you should concentrate on the living, not the dead.

[Ichigo returns that faintly annoyed look, not cowed in the least.]

And it doesn't matter if they're alive or dead; if they need help I'll be there. So you're just gonna have to deal with it just like everyone else.

[A huff of breath before he returns to his food prep, cracking the eggs into the bowl. He does spare a glance at the plate of misshapen pancakes though. Ignoring the perfectly fine ones she made before.]

Besides, it seems like you need it right now.

[She should tell him what happens. How it ends. He loses his spiritual power and ability to see and feel the presence of the dead...including her. But he asked her not to tell him about the future, and she'd agreed to respect his wishes. However, it just seems cruel to play along with the charade.]

[So she looks at him seriously...]

[And flicks her whisk at him to throw a spatter of pancake batter on his cheek.]

[The stray batter peppering his face causes a startled blink before he looks at her flatly, stilling his egg prepping. Did she seriously just do that? He isn't going to sink to her level and return the favor--it's raw egg and that's a little gross anyway.]

Yeah, you seriously need help if your aim is that bad. Pan's over there, Rukia.

[She looks at least a little pleased with herself. Pity he's not in the mood, but it's just as well. She starts to pour the batter.]

Would you like a regular rabbit, or a lop-eared rabbit?

[Pardon him as he grabs a dish towel from the drawer to wipe the batter from his cheek and the bit that got on the counter.]

Uh... there's a difference?

Regular rabbits have ears that stand straight up, like this.

[She holds two fingers behind her head, then points them downward.]

Lop-eared rabbits have ears that flop. Both are exceptionally cute.

I know the difference between rabbits.

[He mostly meant about the shape of the pancakes but he leaves it be. Seems kind of a waste of time to make food into shapes of bunnies but if that's what she wants he won't stop her.]
