Event || Crystallis de Chocobo

Characters: All the Heroes of Light participating in the event.
Where: Chocobo Farm
When: The 16th of August.
Summary: One day after having received a letter from Biggs telling them to get a Chocobo, the Heroes of Light's Moogles will show them the way to the Chocobo Farm. There, the old man in charge of the place will explain to them how to capture their own Chocobos. This post is for all Chocobo related activities. Characters can start their own thread and engage in Chocobo activities, help each other, etc.

There will also be a thread for characters to question the Old Man and Moogle in charge of the farm, as well as another one for the Boss Battle against the Chocobo Eater. Please refer to the OOC Post for instructions on how to capture a Chocobo and what can be done with them. The specific content of the rewards will be posted once the event over.

Old Man & Moogle Questions
BOSS BATTLE: Chocobo Eater

Upon arriving at the Chocobo Farm, the Heroes of Light will be greeted by the old man and his faithful Moogle (who seems to be at least as old as he is, if not more). The Chocobo Farm looks exactly as what one could expect of a farm dedicated to Chocobos: vast areas where Chocobos can run freely, enclosures and stables where both regular and professional racer Chocobos are kept and of course a house where the old man and his Moogle live. East of the farm is a cliff, not a very tall one, but certainly tall enough should one stumble and fall. Chocobos can be seen passing by the area, but they're too far and too fast to be captured.

Noticeably enough, the enclosure is empty. And the old man is quick to explain why: a Chocobo Eater has eaten what little Chocobos hadn't been sold yet! Thankfully, the creature isn't anywhere to be seen, so for the time being the Heroes of Light can hunt Chocobos without having to worry. The Moogle will give each Heroes of Light a Chocobo Lure, along with instructions on how to use it and explanations regarding the different types of Chocobos. Thanks to the Chocobo Lure, Chocobos running in the distance will now approach the characters... Hopefully they will be friendly Chocobos.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

[The fireballs struck the monster, adding onto the growing damage. However, it still wasn't enough to take it down for good, as the monster had an absurdly unusual stamina. That is, if the heroes had kept their original abilities.

Before the heroes could get too comfortable, the Chocobo eater resorted to the first measure it took, while the enemies were down, and thrust its body forward. Forcing everyone back. Luffy being in danger for the most damage, as his attacks did little to effect the beast.]

[For Cloud, it's easy for him to tell which people in this mob have experience with the military and which of them who do not. He can't blame those who are simply attacking out of instinct. He made the same mistakes when he first joined up with ShinRa.

Hearing Ashelia's words, he pulls his chocobo back to stand by her side, giving her a firm nod. She's right about friendly fire. He doesn't know his new job well enough to aim too well just yet and he doesn't want to hit Sparks. He cancels the spell he was planning to cast and instead focuses his mind, gathering his magic power. He has to make the next spell count.]

[He heard Ashelia call out from behind, just after he had nodded quickly in return to Angeal. That familiarity in combat was more comforting than he'd ever let on and the fact that they knew what they were doing shone through. Just who did she think she was barking tactics at, when it was painfully obvious that was a basic tactic, which they were going to need to win this fight.

He kept eyes on the Eater as it charged forwards again, except this time he knew his block wouldn't hold it and so he went quickly to the other option; dodging - with a counter. Utilizing his Jump Sephiroth attempts to time it with the extent of the charge forwards, twisting his long sword down and around as he began his descent down towards the top of the monsters skull.]

[This is crazy. Sparks is used to fighting, but it usually involves him shooting things and winning. With all these combatants, swinging swords and lobbing fireballs and shooting projectiles, it's a miracle someone hasn't gotten hit too badly yet.

But this isn't going to work. All these attacks and the thing's barely batting an eye. So, like the others, the marshal has decided that this situation needs a bit more control. He nods at Angeal, and restates what Ashelia said.]

Listen up! Two squads! Half to the left, the other to the right side of this dang thing. Stay away from its teeth. We're all gonna push. I don't care how weak or strong ya think ya might be. Get in there and push this thing off the cliff!

Hey, kid! [That's you, Luffy.] Stop hittin' and start pushing!

[That's all the ordering he's going to do. Sparks darts at the monster, taking the left side and starting to push as soon as he can. His robot fists are the best for this job, giving him a power boost.]

Hey, princess! [ Sho understood the tactic, he really does, but he also figures that she was going to get people killed here. There was nothing worse than having some idiot in the back yelling out orders when a bunch of raw idiots were attacking any which way that they could. He was frustrated too about the way this mob was fighting but there were a few that actually had some idea about the weapons they held.

Others of course just weren't accepting that they needed to use what they got instead of what they were use to. ]

Stop shouting and use you're eyes!

[ And the monster made its move. Sho saw it ready itself and grabbed onto his chocobo's neck, swinging himself up and giving the bird a sharp prod with his heel to make him turn. A couple hops and a flap of his wings, and the chocobo had them away from the huge push the monster was doing. sure, there were more bruises and Sho was certain that his leg was bleeding, but everything moved so he wasn't going to worry.

He pulled up next to theat girl and the kid with the magic and gave his bow another look over, before sighing and selecting an arrow. ]

Not very many people understand you. Not very many people ever fought in a group before. A lot of these people aren't use to what they have for weapons. Yelling out fancy terms doesn't help. [ He spent a moment looking at the arrow and then let's loose, trying for the eye again. ] Driving it back is smart, but first you gotta make sure that they remember they aren't what they were back home. Like hell I've ever pulled a bow in my life yet here I am.

[ Three more arrows followed the first, this time his aim going for the right arm joint, adjusting for the warrior jumping for the head. ]

Let's weaken it so those going for pushing the thing will have a fair chance.

[Ashelia can't help but roll her eyes at Sho's chiding. Petty, especially at a time like this, but she doesn't take well to chiding in general, let alone in the heat of battle, and especially when men just seem to be reiterating what she said. She ignores the archer, though, instead focusing on the matter at hand. She could tell him off later.]

[She jumps backward, this time anticipating the Chocobo Eater's charge. The creature does not seem to have any other tricks up its sleeve. As long as they stay away from the teeth and its powerful grip, and keep healing, they may just come out of this okay.]

[Ashelia turns towards Cloud, trying to meet his gaze.] On your mark, we Fire as one. [She points at Sephiroth.] That one has the right idea. We Fire when the blow lands. With the others pushing at once we may yet succeed.

[It is discouraging to watch people fall apart but Zelda doesn't think that yelling orders will work any better coming from her. She casts her cure spell first hitting Angeal who is laying on the ground from the chocobo eaters attack and then the head strong boy in the straw hat. She prayed with all her heart hoping that everyone would make it through the fight.

With a smile she casts her cure.] We can do this!

[The spell is cast and the fog from being struck is gone but the shouting of orders and the way this battle is going, he can't help but sigh and shake his head. It's a mess and pure utter chaos but it's something that's going on now and no amount of shouting or barking orders is going to fix it either.

He nods and raises his sword at the ready, his body glows in a faint red misting light as he readies to perform Armor Break.]

Heh.

[He smirks and waits for his opening.]

[Push, huh? He's never seen his fists fall flat like this before, but if a punch won't do the trick than a push might just work.]

Right! Sure thing, Uncle! [Sparks has got enough stubble to afford the name, right?

Using the brunt of his weight, the lad pushes against the beast with his shoulder like he were trying to guard a forward charge in a game of rugby. Feet plant into the ground and push against the soles of his sandals in order to drive the creature back towards the cliff. What strength he has he musters in order to help, gritting his teeth all the while.]

Move, damn it! HEY! HIT IT! SOMEONE BLAST THIS THING OR HELP ME OUT HERE!

[Sephiroth's impale-attempt to the top of it's head glances off by way of the protective scales that it has there, followed by a disgruntled rumble of a growl as arrows meet it's right arm joint just where Sho is aiming them. The arrows are only like pine needles though and do not pierce enough of the joint to encumber it.

It lashes out with an almighty punch, strong enough to propel the bold-warrior several feet back behind the rest of the combat line.

Though, between that distraction, the arrows and it's flailing of arms at the fireballs still smashing into it on occasion, the combined effort of the rest of the Heroes in pushing it's bulk back towards the cliff edge is somewhat successful.

It's not going to go down that easy though, as the Chocobo Eater sweeps it's claws across the front line again attempting to knock any of them over and gain some ground back for itself.]

[And Luffy would get that help. She was a bit late to the party, but she had seen the commotion and left quickly to get her chocobo to safety before running toward the battle, bidding Monty to keep watch on Banora, even given the red, lanky bird the rest of her new apples to keep her distracted. Once in, she ducked under the sweeping claws, sliding upon the grass briefly on her thigh before getting back to her feet and aiming a Haymaker at the Chocobo Eater's chin before quickly pulling back, dancing on her feet.]

I don't believe you are meant to literally push the thing. [She called over to Luffy] Fight him and force him back that way! You are only making yourself a target, otherwise!

[She let out a surprised gasp when the claw swept back at her, but she was quick to dodge roll over it, getting back to her feet to run at the monster again for some more melee attacks in hopes of pushing it off the cliff.]

[Ow. Sparks is very glad that all that armor he was given seems to be doing its job, or that hit would have hurt a lot more. It takes a moment for him to get his wind back, but he refuses to let this thing keep him down. he straightens himself out, fixes his hat, and readies his fists.]

Darn right I aim to push this thing. These attacks are barely scratchin' it. We all need to hit at once!

[And he dashes up right along with Genesis, taking the opposite side of her, unleashing another flurry of robotically-enhanced punches.]

[He barely has the time to turn his long blade away, to brace for the impact with the ground which is inevitable as a result of the deflecting off the plating atop the monsters head. Before a clawed fist comes out of no where and bats him away as if he were nothing but some rag doll.

Masamune is knocked away and Sephiroth lands several feet away, back behind the rest of the Heroes - impacting with the ground on one side heavily, rolling for a single turn before coming to a stop. Air is knocked from lungs and he doesn't move for a long moment before pushing up palms and looking around.

That could have been a lot worse, he'll have to thank Spencer for advising him to swap into his Job equipment before coming out today. Still, he'll wait for the burning in the bottom of his lungs to go away first before dragging himself back up to his feet.]

[Cloud grumbles to himself as he watches everything going on. His spells just aren't powerful enough. He's seen stronger spells be used in the past, especially the materia used by Zack and the other SOLDIER's. The fact that this thing just batted Sephiroth aside so easily was shocking, but he didn't have enough time to worry about it. They had enough manpower, but this thing was fighting back too hard against them.

They needed to break its guard somehow.

He watches it move, his eyes narrowing as he focuses once more. It's thrashing around, punching, lunging and...wait! That could do it! It was erratic and random, but its size was putting it into something of a pattern.

He waited until it raised its fist in the air once more and poured all the strength that he could into the spell.]

THUNDER!

[The lightning bolt cracks down from the sky towards the Chocobo Eater's upraised arm. He can only hope it will be strong enough to stun it.]

[She once again focuses and this time it feels a little bit easier. She slowly breaths focusing on casting her spell to keep these hero's on their feet as they battle against the Chocobo eater. It is enjoyable to cast but also tiring. Luckily, not to many of her comrades were getting hurt but she worries that might change.

As the spell readies her focus moves to Sephiroth who is laying across the ground. A smile dances across her lips as she casts.] Here!

[Her staff dances in the air as the cure spell surrounds the fallen soldier.]

Agh! [Ashelia barely escapes the sweep of the Chocobo Eater's arms. She chastises herself mentally for drifting too close to the front lines. They're making progress, but something has to give. This white mage cannot heal everyone indefinitely, and my skills are better suited to offense. Another plan, then. The black mage seems to be willing to cooperate.] Black mage, ready a Blizzard spell. On my mark, cast it at the creature's feet. [Her tone is different than before; indignant as she may be at the way Sho addressed her previously, it seems she took it to heart.]

[She steels herself and runs to the side, perpendicular to the creature and the line of fighters, to get a better line of fire, so to speak. When she's far enough, she throws out as big a Water spell as she can muster. All you need is a small puddle. Do not tax yourself so. She aims behind and under the creature, making sure not to get any water anywhere near the other Heroes - not a hard feat, after the monster's latest efforts to clear the area in front of it.] Black mage! [She clears her throat, shouting even louder. FREEZE IT NOW!

[Angeal uses the distraction as a means to get to the side of the chocobo eater and strike it to break the armor casing since he is already powered up to use the ability. With the next set of strikes to come after he breaks the armor will allow the spells the penetrate the thick hide.

This is battle and tending to friends when there's something else going on might get them all killed. He knows that Sephiroth is in good hands with the mysterious healer around.

Also, he notes the woman barking orders. That just made things even more stressful and he sneers. He seriously wants to tell this woman to shut up and help instead of ordering them around like children.]

[Cloud was feeling a bit weak after all the energy he just put into that Thunder spell. Still, he has a little power left. It might be his last spell, but there wasn't any merit to holding back. He nods to Ashelia and puts the last of his casting strength into the spell.]

Blizzard!

[Cloud is looking a little pale now and falls to one knee after the spell is cast. He's exhausted, but it was just enough and the water is now frozen. If it wasn't for Ashelia's setup he would not have been able to do it at all.]

[The ground was now slick, which was both a pro and a con. The monster will lose its footing, but so might everyone close to it, including Sparks.

Right. With these jobs comes fancy new abilities. Time to try one of these out - particularly his Power Break, which he'll unleash on the Chocobo Eater while he still can. He just hope it actually works. He won't slow down his assault of punches either.

This fight might be crazy and chaotic, but damn if he isn't having fun.]

[ well, if it was to unbalance the thing, Sho could see some merit to it. he still wished for a bottle of booze - a Molotov cocktail would be useful about now, especially if it was at the creature's feet. fire and ice? a good combo, but he doubt that the poor little blond guy was going to cast anything more without some kind of boost.

he steadied his chocobo with a soft 'baka' and aimed for the creature's knees. a tricky shot on the best of days, it was made doubly so with all the people in the way. but he saw the rhythm and took his shots, knowing the arrows would just sting and maybe cause enough off-balance to give those pushing an edge. ]

[Genesis' haymaker connects well between the flailing arms of the Eater -one of which flinches noticeably under Cloud's first Thunder spell- and it stumbles back, heaving it's great arms backwards in an attempt to counter balance itself.

Between Sparks and Angeal continued melee assault, and the incoming arrows as well, the Eater continues to be edged back towards the edge of the cliff behind it even if its natural resistance to physical attacks mean that none of them break its skin very far.

And then a moment later ice is conjured around its feet as the Blizzard spell does exactly what was intended. Sho's arrows follow to embed in its knees and the Eater falls heavily onto its back, shattering the ice as it hits the floor and it's legs are forced skyward.

It's legs are a lot smaller than the rest of its bulk and the Eater flails about wildly, grunting, for the time being unable to coordinate itself into leaping back onto its feet due to the slick mud beneath it. Now might be the opportunity to push it that the Heroes have been waiting for.]

[Zelda's Cure is like a fine rejuvenating mist as it gets to work quickly in softening Sephiroth's winded condition. One of his ribs throbs a little once the pain is toned down but considering how far he was thrown he'll take that as a small mercy.

He meets Zelda's gaze only once to nod his appreciation before tucking his legs in underneath him and getting back to his feet in one smooth motion. Two squats later, to get the blood moving to his limbs again and he's looking for where his sword landed.

He notices that the battle is intensifying and has every intention to get back in there to finish the job, but first things first.]

[Angeal didn't see what had happened to Sephiroth since his focus is on the Eater and not on everything else. It takes just a second to realize that pushing that monster back is as good as those that have the strength to do it.

He looks to Sparks and nods. With a strong blow, he gives a battle cry and runs toward the monster. The mud offered very little to no traction at all and just as he lands the blow, he slides flat on his face. At least he landed the hit.

So much for grace.]

[The mud was surprising enough to throw Genesis off balance, her body wobbling slightly. She hadn't expected the water attack that would eventually make the ground slippery, but she was used to fighting in the rain and she was able to right herself quickly enough. However, what she would have really liked a warning for was the sudden ice on the ground. It happened right as she was going to land another punch in too.

Her boots were suddenly frozen to the ground before shattering from the weight of the monster, but it put her in harm's way long enough for one of those flailing feet to catch her right in the stomach. Feet still hooked to the ground, she didn't quite go flying as she did just landing on her ass as she wheezed for air. The mud splattered everywhere. She was honestly lucky the force made the ice break or her legs would have broken. Instead, she curled up on the ground and held her stomach and pray she didn't lose her lunch.]

[It takes a lot of effort for Sparks to stay on his feet from the ice smashing around them, but he just barely manages it. But this is their big chance, and her can't mess it up now. He aims to attack alongside Angeal, trying to take it a bit slower since the ground was now a total mess. He manages a few more blows before he notices Angeal hit the dirt face-first, and Genesis getting kicked hard.

He really wanted to start pushing this thing off, but two people down so close to the flailing creature. Angeal is clearly okay, though, while Genesis is not. Sparks backs off from the monster, plants his armored feet in the mud, and offers her a robotic hand in help up.]

It's too dangerous on the ground near this thing. Can ya stand?

[He'll then call to the rest of the group.] Get in there and push! Go for the legs! Hey, pal-- [He calls over to Angeal, smirking.] This ain't time for a nap. Ya didn't kill it yet!
