Player Plot: Sewer Quest Part II
Who: Barkeep and anyone else who signs up on the OOC post.
What: Exploring the Aqures Ixen Sewers in search of a hidden room
Where: Aqures Ixen Sewers
When: May 12th-15th
Warnings: n/a
[It’s that time again. The morning of the 12th, the Barkeep collects the Heroes that volunteered to explore the sewers of Aqures Ixen one last time and reviews their supplies at the entrance. Last time was a blind scouting mission, but this time, they’ll surely find something. He can feel it in his bones.
Candles, potions, ethers, whistles, dry food – these things the Barkeep has brought. He has a bag of his own things and leaves some of those supplies for the others to take.
The sun is shines bright as the group prepares to enter the filthy streams that run underground.]

I do not know. I always carry it. You never know when you will need to tie something, or mark a path you choose, or give someone a gift. Back home, ribbons could prevent bad statuses, thought it does not have that same enchantment here.
[Maybe the best way to describe it was simply, 'It is a piece of home.' But he did not think so say those words, because it did not occur to him as such.]

[Maybe she just likes ribbons because the released form of her sword has a long white one attached to the hilt.]
I see! This does seem useful, and they don't weigh much or take up space. Perhaps I shall start carrying some ribbon myself.

Here. If it carries even a little of protection it was imbued with in my homeland, I would be glad for you to carry it with you.
[A good party leader always makes sure his party members are properly accessorized.]

When we needed to find someone's reiatsu, we would visualize it in our minds, and they manifested as lengths of white ribbon. But the soul ribbon of a shinigami is a different color; it's red.
[Just a little information about her homeworld, so he understands why she appreciates the gift.]
Thank you. I will return it to you once we safely depart this place.

A...soul ribbon...? In Ivalice, we have soul crystals. I wonder why the manifestation is different in other world. [Were there fundamental differences in the souls of people, or was it merely how people interpreted the immaterial with their physical senses?
He presses the ribbon into Rukia's hand. He is glad she seems to regard the gift so highly.]

I suppose it depends upon the nature of the world itself. Your Ivalice already shares many similarities with Crystallis. It's no surprise that souls would crystallize in these realms.
[She lays her hand over her right side, where her own crystal rests in the folds of her hakama.]
But as to why spiritual energy is perceived as ribbons in my world, I can't say. It's simply the way it's always been.

[That's enough of an explanation for him, at least.]
Even though it is a different type of ribbon, perhaps it will be of some aid to you.
[With the ribbon now secured, there seems no more reason to tarry.] Shall we make ready to depart?
Shall we go?

[Rukia smiles, picking up her pack and hitching it on her shoulders. She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly, because this the last chance she'll have to breathe clean air in a long while.]
[At least getting sick will leave her too congested to properly smell the ripe bouquet of the sewers, once it hits.]
