Happy Birth-NOPE
Characters: Saori Nakagawa, Malik (for one locked prompt), and anyone else
When: June 12-June 15
Where: Aqures Ixen police HQ, the Space Saloon, and a private study room in the library.
Summary: Work, a meeting, and once again her moogle throws her under the bus.
Warnings: Mostly for possible language slips.
A. At the Police Station 12th-15th
[For once, Saori wasn't dodging paper work with field work. As she reviewed the newest documents from her in-tray, she twirled her pen in her left hand. After that meeting in Edsham, it's clear she's distracted. Considering what they had heard however, no one could really blame her. She leaned back into her chair and tossed the pen back on the desk. These are mostly petty crimes compared to the Calamity crawling up to their front steps. There had to be something they could do rather than running around like headless chocobos.]
[On the 15th, Saori came in with several tote bags in hand. It took her a while to go through as many of the rooms HQ had, passing out a small box. Anyone who's been working at the police force long enough knew this was one of her homemade lunches. Small meatballs with teriyaki-like sauce, stir-fried seasonal vegetables, and rice. While never super fancy, they had a homely feel only Saori could add. She even made one for her housemate Meredy. Little did everyone know, there was a reason for making lunch for today. ]
B.The Space Saloon, June 15th
[After a long day at work, a drink sounded great. She managed to get a seat at the counter and ordered up a beer. Just as she finished her first long sip, she heard an all too familiar voice.]
Saori there you are! C'mon aren't you gonna have some fun, kupo?
I'm fine where I am right now. [She took another long drink.]
No way, kupo! This is a special day for you!
[The redhead put down her glass and looked Brigid in the eye.]
Brigid, what are you...
[Her voice trailed off before she looked aghast at her fuzzball of a companion. Of course. Brigid was there when she was preparing lunch boxes for work the night before. She thought the moogle was too busy writing stuff in her notebook to notice. Oh no.]
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SAORI!
[The saloon went quiet as soon as she yelled it. Saori in the meantime just buried her head in her arms. ]
Please tell me this is the booze at work and not actually happening....
C.The Art of Managing an Assassin Bureau Locked to

[Saori paced around the room, occasionally glancing at the door. She reserved one of the private study rooms in the library. Thankfully it was easy to get a room now that school was out. A few days ago, she had sent Malik mail asking to meet with him. Despite his assurance, Saori wasn't sure where her standing was among her fellow Assassin Initiatives. After the mission to retrieve the Diamond WEAPON, a few more questions regarding the state of the Assassin bureau gnawed at her.]

If you are fasting, you could've at least told me, Sparks. That lunch won't keep forever.

He's a bad actor.]
Never said I was. I uh. Reckon I'm just too busy for lunch. My stomach'll just have to deal with it.
no subject
Really now? What a shame. I'm about to run out of lunches and I know some officers are running late so maybe they'll appreciate it more....Or you could just tell me what the hell is eating at you, Sparks.

[He pauses, but continues to type.]
...Or maybe there's a certain coworker who's kinda been pushin' my buttons lately. Almost kinda literally. Like in the ribs. Y'know. Hypothetically.

[She'd roll her eyes but she has better restraint than him. Most of the time.]
It's not like I threw you under the proverbial bus or anything like. Look, I think all of us at that meeting didn't agree with the President's choices. At least some of us had the tact not to say them out loud.
no subject
[He mumbles that out before he realizes what he's even saying. Dangit. His eyes shift back and forth as he tries to think of a follow up to that. He starts with clearing his throat loudly.]
Just... reckon that... Ah, ferget it.
no subject
I'd say sorry but it's not my policy to be insincere. Besides, for every good cop you need a bad one, right?
If you're not going to eat that lunch yourself, at least give to someone else. I'd hate to see food go to waste out of stubbornness.
no subject
[As he slides the container back over to Saori, his stomach growls loudly. Erk.]
Um.
