Summary: The long-awaited meeting with Palitutu! This post will be updated as things evolve and will lead into the main event for the second Anniversary, Revelations. According to the predictions of a certain Heroes of Light, Ultima WEAPON shall be fought during the meeting, better be prepared. Trying to avoid the meeting is a bad idea, as Palitutu mentioned she will use that very WEAPON to destroy Aqures Ixen if the Heroes feel cowardly.

[Vincent's hair isn't nearly as long as Sephiroth's, but aside from the red bandanna around his forehead he hasn't bothered to pull it back in even a token attempt. The black strands frame his face and hang over his shoulders with only minimal taming.

He's in the dark clothes similar, but not made of leather, to what he usually wore on Gaia. Dark boots with tarnished gold sabatons, gun at his hip, and his red-cloak and mantle helping provide some cover from the rain. Good thing the gauntlet covering his left arm has been through worse weather than rain and mud.]

I think if I do see you in the coat, I'll be doing a double take.

[There is a hint of amusement in Vincent's tone, even as it would be obvious given Sephiroth's knowledge of where in the timeline the gunslinger was from. To see him in the long coat would invoke memories of the delusional madman who wanted to be a god.]

Pointless to ask if you're ready.

[Vincent caught that hint of smile. This is also his way of asking how Sephiroth is.]

[It's more the fact, honestly, that the rain doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon. Plus with so many Heroes of Light that have shown up, it might well be considerate in its own right - when fighting alone one doesn't have to worry about flicking ones own hair in anothers face.]

Hmph. [There is no need to answer the comment about the long coat. Sephiroth does often wear his uniform-of-choice, that leather and silver armor that is the identity he knew so much glory in before. It must just be luck that Vincent hadn't really paid it much mind before.

As if to answer the question, the end of the tail of his hair nearly touches the floor as Sephiroth executes a quick double-squat and bounces his frame a little from one foot to the other. Warming up is a serious business, and if nothing else he expects he'll have to be able to initiate combat at the drop of a thread.]

Always. [A natural smile, being obvious that the battleground is more home to him than most other situations.]

This needs to end, today.

[Vincent was less optimistic, but he felt no need to point it out. Certainly they needed to make a stand, and this was the time and place whether they had chosen it themselves or not. He stood by, stance casual as Sephiroth warmed up.]

Let's hope everyone here is prepared for a fight then, even if we hope that talking works instead.

[He could go either way, but realistically he was expecting a fight. Besides, he knew himself--and was sure he wasn't the only one, who had this thought. Even if talking did work, what if they could simply take Palitutu down here and now, by surprise?

It's all on her terms, all of this. We can't presume to think that anything good will come out of that fact.

[She's held the city of Aqures Ixen, with it's swollen population, completely to ransom in order to get their attention. As far as Sephiroth is concerned, given his tactical mind, nothing good can come of that particular set of circumstances.

She's not going to have put herself out in the open against them, at so much risk as all that. Even if they might come to an accord...he's mostly convinced by now that this is yet another 'test'. He'd be happy to take her out, purely to stop the manipulation to his own life, let alone that one particular other he'd come to care about more than he'd thought possible.]

Any conversation we do get is likely to be planned that way, to rub us up the wrong way, or otherwise manipulate the situation into a more favorable one for herself.

[That made Vincent duck his head slightly more into the cowl of his mantle. Mostly to hide the small smile.]

Normally I'm the one being accused of pessimism.

[He's amused by it though, and he definitely doesn't disagree. Palitutu's tactics ensured they had to dance to her tune, no matter what they tried. She wasn't likely to give up that position no matter how nice they played or pretty words they spoke.]

Sadly, there are many among us who will play right into her hands.

[It's not pessimism, it's being blunt and honest. Not to mention the odds weren't in any way stacked in their favor and anyone who had seen the state of the 6th District after Weapon had passed through there last year could surely remember why. That being said there are those optimists who would wax and wane over how far they've come since then, how much more they could hope to yet plan...

Palitutu has always held the right cards in her hand and it's foolish to think that this time will be any different.]

[There is the guts-honest truth of it. There is no 'win' and there won't be until they manage to rid this world of it's Calamity.]

[It is realism, but usually when Vincent does it--he's accused of pessimism. Also of being too negative. He's not disagreeing with Sephiroth at all.]

It's far too familiar a situation.

[That whole 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' situation that is.]

[That's likely more to do with those that Vincent ends up in the company of, than a question in regards to whether it's realism or pessimism. Both men know that the World isn't framed by rose-tinted glasses.]

Isn't it.

[An observation, not a question. Sephiroth's tone is about as deadpan as it could be; just how many times does he have to pull the short straw?]

[If either of them had ever worn rose-tinted glasses. More likely they'd worn jaded and only seem worse since then. Sometimes Vincent wondered that he could have moments of optimism.

Privately, he also felt their opponents need to find a new gimmick. This was becoming a tired cliche at best. Which did nothing for his annoyance with it.]
