I'm afraid I'm not nearly so well equipped with Jobs as some of those others who already have managed to achieve the maximum in Onion Knight, but-
[As they walk, boots squelching in the soft ground already, Sephiroth seems content enough to carry on the conversation well enough. If nothing else it's a distraction from the apprehension of the battle, and how already the black undershirt was wet with rain and sticking to him. The rest he could deal with, even the dripping of water from the bangs which are shorter than the rest of his tied-back hair; but that clammy feeling tight to his skin right now...]
I've my custom Job, and Warrior.
[Warrior on it's own isn't particularly strong but S-Type SOLDIER seemed to boost it well enough. Besides it wouldn't put him in one box or another; the combination is balanced for offense and defense.]
The former grants me a few of the traits and abilities that I had back home, so it's a natural choice.
no subject
No, nor I. I'm not even halfway to becoming an Onion Knight. Who gave that job such an odious name, I wonder?
[He does glance at Sephiroth on occasion, but for the most part he's taking the patrol seriously and keeping an eye out for any monster intruders. So far there's not even a stray geezard, so that's good. Or a bad sign. He's not sure which.]
I heard some of us were able to receive custom jobs. I haven't looked into it myself, but I admit I wouldn't mind knowing more about it. What skills does it grant you?
no subject
[An equally bitter twitch upwards of the corner of his mouth tell Chrom all he needs to know in regards to how Sephiroth might feel about that. Never mind the fact he's never been one to spread his skill-set across all possible disciplines when there were a handful that he's got at least the basic knowledge of how they are to operate. Better to excel, than to be mediocre in a lot of different things.
Pity that at this late stage, his thinking has only been proved wrong.]
It took a lot of work, between my other responsibilities.
[Sephiroth is also keeping one eye out on their patrol route, yet not obviously so much so in peering around. He trusts his own perception well enough.]
But essentially, I suppose you could say that in general it gives a much needed boost. It's not so much of an enhancement as it was before, but it's so far proven enough even if it does come with something of a cool down.
no subject
[Pity he doesn't have any customized jobs of his own, but he'd heard that Palitutu had a tendency to disable the jobs of Heroes, which was why he opted to be a Crystal Knight. Their initial skill was to make sure that didn't happen.]
With the exception of the Fire Bender job, all of mine allow me to fight with a sword. It's not much of a variety, I'm afraid, but it does make the adjustment far easier when learning the new skills.
no subject
It wouldn't make sense now to drop something else he had significant experience in and pick up Dark Knight, it'd only take him longer to reach the full capability of the coveted Onion Knight. A lot of clues pointed to that being somewhat key to their victory so Sephiroth had made do.]
I'd probably keep one of mine on and switch the secondary around for exactly the same reason, should it come to needing to put time in another one.
[But as it is, he's been
lazysuccessful enough in storing up exp in the various orbs he's gone through and allocating it accordingly.]Call me a creature of habit, but I'd not put down Masamune again if I could help it.
[His sword is still up in it's reverse-cross back sheath/harness for the moment, but he can't help but let his left hand fall back for the handle as he mentions it, as if to make sure it's still there.]
no subject
[Finally. Finally someone who understands the glory of swords and nothing but swords. What a shame that Sephiroth wasn't part of Chrom's world, he would have recruited him into his Shepherds in a heartbeat for that trait alone.]
How did you come by your blade? It must have quite a history if it bears a name.
no subject
[That almost causes an instant twist of Sephiroth's face up into a grin. Even people back on Gaia supposed there must be a story since Masamune has a name. To be true, it had been named by the company, he'd just won glory enough with it so as to attach it's identity to his own. Together, they were legendary.]
Sometimes it's not the history that a blade comes to your hand with, it's the history you then make with the same.
[It's said in such a way that Chrom would surely understand, if he was truly as much as a sword-fanatic as Sephiroth supposes.]
no subject
You speak the truth, friend.
[He's still grinning as he looks ahead and around him.]
Falchion has seen its fair share of battles, but none as strange as the ones fought here I'd wager. I can only hope that its history can be safely guided into the hands of the next of my line when this business has concluded.
[That would be Morgan, as far as he knows. He hasn't yet learned of "Marth's" secret.]
no subject
The light grin Sephiroth wears tugs downwards a little at the concept of passing on the history he's got with his Masamune. There is no 'next of my line' for one such as him. Not like the buster sword which passes down no less than three times, as far as he knows. Knowing where his particular story ends up doesn't offer any salve either.]
To have the opportunity to think so far ahead would be something, for sure. I've never much thought about what happens next.
no subject
[He'd show the brand on his shoulder if he could, but there are massive hunks of crystal armor he'd have to unbuckle and take off. It's more effort than it's worth.]
...You called it an 'opportunity,' though. Were you...er...considering the possibility of having kids?
no subject
Thankfully there wasn't so much information offered, so the soldier ends up more focused on the patrol again in due time. Only to pause in his next step as Chrom picks him up on his choice of words. A couple of blinks, and the start of a frown later-]
Not specifically...but- [Eventually falls from his mouth.] I meant it generally.
I don't know to what extent there had never been a plan, for me. But now there could be.
no subject
[It seems like he understands what Sephiroth is saying, and he nods, smiling.]
This place does change some things I would have believed unchangeable.
[For a brief moment, his older sister was safe and whole. She'd fallen into crystal stasis almost immediately, but just knowing she could appear here at all...]
Are there any plans you're hoping to realize?
no subject
The thought that his father essentially set him up to die doesn't exactly bode for the next generation to come about...at least, not directly. Nor of his own desire or intent. Things really have been changed about, by being in Crystallis.]
After all of this, I'm going to find somewhere to live out a life of my own.
[With Terra, as hopelessly romantic as it sounds, there wasn't anything -with anyone else- that Sephiroth could see him wanting out of life at this point. How small his goals had gotten in comparison to what they could have been, but perhaps that wasn't all too surprising.]
no subject
I'm pleased to hear it. Should the way home open again, you would be more than welcome in Ylisse. We'd just begun an era of peace when I was summoned to this place. I think you would find it to your liking.
(End)
The idea of a peaceful setting, with no war or conflict to have to go and face. An opportunity to just...live. Sephiroth hasn't given it much thought than that but he does wonder sometimes if it really will be something for him.]
I'll keep it in mind.
[But for now, Sephiroth turns more diligently towards the perimeter patrol that they've decided to go on.]
