Aug 03rd--Defense/back-up for those who stayed in Aquares Ixen [OPEN]
Who: Lydia Deetz
deadlyvu and anyone interested. [Open to all]
Where: Aquares Ixen, near the Crystal of Fire
What: Not every Hero is eager or willing to go to the Calm Plains and show-down. Doesn't mean they want to do their part any less...
When: August 03rd
Warnings: none yet?
While the rain likely wasn't helping those on the Calm Plains, it was only slightly making things harder for those in the city. Most people stayed indoors--which for those Heroes who'd stayed behind meant less likely for civilian casualties. Hopefully.
Lydia had still wanted to do her part, even if she wasn't primarily a fighter. Not that she wouldn't fight if she had to--but self-defense was a different thing than seeking it out. So she'd made up flyers, and Betel-Po had been fluttering with all speed and haste and delivering them to all Heroes by hand. Nanami's moogle had been enlisted to help too, besides spreading word of mouth.
"Meet at the Crystal of Fire at [time]. We might need to be the last line of defense." Was the brief headline, with an explanation below.
Lydia waited near the Crystal, hood to her cloak up. She was ignoring the rain as best she could, and had her rapier and dagger handy, and was hoping others would show up. Betel-Po huddled in his rain-coat, grumbling and trying to not yawn. But he was determined to help see this through too--show Biggs and everyone else who doubted them being Heroes. He knew his companion worked hard!
[Lydia is rocking maxed out Vampire, with a dark cloak covering her. She also has Ghostbuster at 6 months, although that might be less useful.]

Elezen? I don't think so yet. But I'll be here.
[Either until they found out that the Heroes won, or if they lost. If they lost, the Weapon would likely come for them.]
I'm Lydia, it's nice to meet you.

[He waves to Betel-Po and was about to offer his right paw to shake, before suddenly acting rather alarmed, looking around. Apparently his companion forgot to mention one tiny little detail.]
K-kupo! The Observatory? But how-?
[Oh. Oh.]
S-she's apparently sent me here to be a messenger moogle, kupo.... [ VISIBLY DEFLATES.] She says she's watching the battle from the Observatory, kupo... the weapon's been activated and they're trying to break both it's arms, kupo?

She's telepathic?
[Lydia is looking around for Nanami, then pointing her out to the moogle]
Nanami has the jobs for telepathy too!
[Important to establish that first. Never mind Nanami was also right that they should've met at the Observatory... Crystal of Fire had more significance though--besides that Lydia didn't think of the other option.]
It's...it's not good news, but it IS useful. We appreciate the warning.
[Brave, she had to be brave. Lydia can do this.]

Lydia is more than happy to wave it off, as there are bigger things to worry about than unexpected and accidental rudeness.]
It's ok Falon. It's nice to meet you. I'm glad she's helping us and you're here too. Is she one of the newer Heroes?

She arrived with the last group, kupo! Which is why she didn't go out with them, as much as she wanted to.
[He droops a bit. It had taken a bit of convincing, since he knew how unused she was to her new skills despite being a powerful and competent mage back home. He'd read her file, after all. But she was in no way prepared to face against the Ultima Weapon. Hopefully she wasn't still mad at him about it...]
"The weapon is still charging some sort of spell. I recognize the stance," kupo. "The left arm is showing more wear and tear, and for some reason they're hammering it mostly with magic. The right with physical. Is it counterattacking?" ...Kupo?
[WHY IS SHE ASKING HIM HE CAN'T SEE.] I know she was in charge of a religious organization, but I didn't realize she...
[Oops, he said that one out loud didn't he.]

It might have a resistance built in to certain kind of attacks, or they've just got stronger magic than physical attacks...
[They had Sephiroth out there though. And K'Pandolu. And Jack Harkness, and Tazrenda, and a whole ton of other talented fighters. Marshall Nevada. Johnny! Ira. Even Mr. Barkeep had gone, though he wasn't a physical fighter. Jade was skilled mage wasn't he? Ales had gone, and he was small and cunning. They had a lot of heroes out there used to battle, didn't they?
Even if the weapon was counter-attacking, they were winning so far, right?]

[Lifting a paw to his chin, he relays a thought that occurred to him.]
It's a little chaotic, but she can try to keep an eye out for a few people if you'd like, kupo. No one's fallen, but she can't stress enough that whatever spell the weapon's charging can't be good.

Finally she shook her head 'no' at the moogle.]
Please tell her thank you, but no. I'm sure they'll handle it, whatever comes their way.
[She had to have faith in Sephiroth, and K'Pandolu. Tazrenda and Ira. Mr. Barkeep was there and he was sensible. Capt. Harkness seemed to know what he was doing most of the time. It would be fine, right?]

[He doesn't seem too happy about it, seeing the hurt in her eyes along with the faith. He just wishes he could do something to help a little bit more. He passes along the message regardless, awaiting the next update.]
