Summary: Mysterious letters have gone out, inviting moogles to come take part in a test of courage, and inviting Heroes to come and be the monsters for it.

Throughout the month letters were arriving in mailboxes, though it was never clear who actually did the deliveries. This was further complicated by the fact that the letters addressed to the Heroes who received them were all requesting a level of secrecy from them for the sake of making this event go off without a hitch. The letters that came to the moogles on the other hand only spoke of a challenge, and a promise of prizes and glory to the bravest of moogles, if they could prove themselves. The letters were simply signed Kutan. No letters sent back to them would be replied to.

The Heroes were encouraged to show up early on the 20th, while the moogles were told to come at sundown.

Yo. Is it just me, or has it been kinda boring around here lately? We should get together and play some games or something. Poker, Baccarat. I can teach you if you don't know how to play. You nerds can even bring your weird Triple Triad cards and your board games and stuff. It'll pass the time.

B. Games Day (Sat, Sept 24th)

[It's taking place in one of the big rooms in the observatory. Santa's borrowed tables and chairs from some of the surrounding rooms, and he's set up them up with poker chips and fresh packs of cards. He's also ~~made~~ bought some snacks, which he's set up on tables along the side of the room.

If Heroes are up for gambling, there are tables where they can play for gil or for favors. Santa is there in his bank suit, and he's happy to act as your dealer. Just remember, the house always wins. Don't worry, any gil you lose goes to charity. There are also tables for Heroes playing just for fun. ~~LAME.~~ ]

[With everything that's been going on in the city lately, it's probably easy to miss the fact that Levy has been somewhat conspicuously missing from it all. It's not that she isn't concerned about the well-being of the townspeople or her fellow Heroes of Light, but rather she's been working herself into the ground lately attempting to use her Alchemist abilities to get as many people as possible ready for Palitutu's ultimatum at the beginning of August. She feels guilty, of course, and doubly so after hearing about what happened to Zelda, but she also knows if Palitutu has her way there might not be an Aqures Ixen at all in less than a month's time.

Time is the one thing Levy wishes she had more of. She's been burning the midnight oil quite a bit lately, splitting her efforts between her day job at the library, research at Palitutu's laboratory, crafting items at MarKus' old shop, and making sure everything is fine at Fairy Tail's guild headquarters. And now, it seems that all of that exertion is starting to catch up with her. Her movements and speech have grown sluggish, she's got dark circles under her eyes, and her usual energy and good cheer have been replaced with impromptu naps and tired sounding groans as she tries to keep working.

Anyone at any of the locations mentioned can feel free to run into Levy in her sleep-deprived state, either awake or passed out in some random location. She might even collapse in the middle of the street or on a bench somewhere out of sheer exhaustion. She could definitely use a rest and a good pep talk.]

[All Heroes will receive a letter yesterday - more like an invitation, really, with the name of a business and a small legend showing where in the 11th District the shop can be found. The grand opening celebration is set for Wednesday, May 11.]

Dear Heroes,

I welcome you one and all to the grand opening of Doc G's Alchemical Concoctions! This shop will serve one and all, but mostly it's for the benefit of Heroes who'd like to get any repairs or upgrades to their armor and weapons. Why swing a plain steel sword, when you can be saving the day with a gorgeous mythril blade? There will be plenty of potions for sale as well. I've been hard at work not just learning and mastering the recipes from this world, but ones from my home as well. I hope you'll all come and check it out! There will be a 25% off discount for all Heroes to celebrate the opening.

I do have a favor to ask, though. As an Alchemist, I need a lot of crystals in order to do my work. These can be collected from monsters and creatures after they've died, but I'm not much of a fighter on my own. If anyone would like to head out on a monster-slaying adventure anytime soon, I'd be glad to join you! Maybe I can cut you a deal on some upgrades if I can accompany you.

[The shop is small, but bright and warmly decorated, with a lot of flowers and plants. Most of the space is taken up behind the shop, where a small lab and an outdoor forge have been put in for Ed to work. The shelves of the store are lined with rows of bottles and vials of all different sizes and colors; Potions and Elixirs are for sale, but so are ones like stomach remedies and hair growth tonics. There's all manner of strange things.

There are also some racks with a few weapons and armor pieces for sale, of simple but strong design. The price on their tags seems a bit high. But if you'd like to question or bargain with the shop owner, he's currently sat behind a counter with his face in a book. To any Hero that enters, he'll greet them with a smile and the offer of a drink. Looks like there's some celebratory champagne and glasses sitting on the counter with him.]

It was a massive undertaking, but he had put out the call to everyone in the area. There were stoves set up with portable heat supplies, tables and a place for music and food. The Adventurer had literally invited everyone that he could think of. Even the trio of Wedge, Cid and Biggs were invited, to foster better relationships with them, as well as the merchants and the people of the land.

The Observatory was decorated as such and with the warmer weather out, there was still things to do, places to see and people to meet. Take this time to invest in that meeting you wanted. Maybe you saw this Hero or person from over the way but never stopped to say hello. It simply isn't possible to know everyone. Until now.

Go and talk with someone, play music or perform on the dance stage, and oh, save some food for those out hunting the ridiculous Gilgamesh Quest. They'll probably be starving.
