WHAT: A mini-expedition sets out once more to find chocobos. A Chocobo Knight is nothing without his birb.

Chrom was pleased that the weather proved to be so accommodating. He'd been worried, given the nasty storms that had heralded their return from the rift, and the thick clouds that had plagued yesterday's sky made him uneasy that their venture would be ruined by rain. But to his relief, cloudy was as bad as it got, and it was a welcome relief from the sweltering sun of summer.

With the chocobo lure gratefully borrowed from the old man at the ranch, Chrom set out with his companions. He allowed Aang to use the lure first, as he was the youngest in their group. Selphie could go next.

Part of him wondered if he would see the strange man in the chocobo suit show up again, but the saner part hoped he wouldn't. He didn't like disappointing people, and he surely would if he declined a ride yet again.

[The chocobo seems to like Donny well enough, from what Chrom can gather. He doesn't try to rush forward or hover too close. Donny is a comrade, not someone who needs to be protected or smothered. He smiles. Looks like they're getting along perfectly.]

I think you've won its trust. Any hopes as to what kind of treasure you'll dig up?

Shoot, I'll be happy with whatever I can get! I'm just glad it all worked out.

[The Chocobo then begins to walk...]

Hey now! Maybe he's already found somethin!

[... And turn into a full on sprint.]

Must be a good find!

[Chrom calls out with his hands cupped to his mouth, then drops them with a quiet chuckle. It's nice to have one of his Shepherds around, though it's a pity Robin isn't here to enjoy the antics they've all grown accustomed to having around one another.]

Don't worry, I'll be close behind! Just hang on and let it do what it needs to do.

If you say sooo!

[WHY IS THIS SO FAST. Donny hangs on for dear life, and while it goes on for some time, thankfully the bird does eventually stop. He manages to sit up, sliding the pot back in its proper place.]

I think I saw my whole life flash before my eyes...

[Chrom is making his way slowly but surely toward the two, walking at a normal stride. It won't be long before those two make a name for themselves on the battlefield, that much is for sure. He'll get used to it in time. He calls out from afar.]

Now that you've had a moment to get to know one another better, what will you call your chocobo?

A name...?

[Huh, he'd forgotten all about that. He contemplates as he pets the bird's head.]

Boy or girl, this eager bird kinda reminds me of Nowi... But she'd probably be angry as a hornet's nest if I named it after her. So, how's about we go with "Drago?" Like Dragon!

[shepherd_prince]

[Ah, Nowi. Chrom's missed her oddities, and it's good to think of her cheerful face again.]

I think that's more than suitable. She'd be pleased to know that you're thinking of her, I'm sure.

[pot_head]

I hope so... and I hope we can see her again real soon. Her, and everyone else in the Shepherds! It's hardly been a day, but I already miss 'em.

A sentiment we both share.

[Even seeing one of Anna's relatives running the hot spring had brought back a warm rush of nostalgia. It...didn't last long, once she extracted her price from the group, of course.]

Still, you are here, and for that I am grateful. It is my hope that Robin and Morgan may awaken here once more.

... Uh, Morgan? Is that someone you just recruited?

Er...my son, actually.

[He might be a little red, because how in all of the hells can he explain that when he barely understands it himself?]

W-w-what?!

[That startles him so much he falls off "Drago", who just tilts his head.]

[shepherd_prince]

[Despite himself, Chrom chuckles a little, and offers him a hand up.]

It surprised me as well. We can be drawn from our worlds at different points in time. It's somewhat complicated. Are you all right?

[pot_head]

[he takes the hand, still surprised.]

Different times...? A-and you got to meet your own son? That's amazing! I don't know how I'd handle somethin' like that.

[shepherd_prince]

It's a difficult sensation to describe.

[He laughs, albeit somewhat awkwardly.]

It inspires a certain pride, and a fierce desire to protect. I'm sure you'll understand one day.

[Especially if a kid shows up from a timeline where Donnel is a father himself.]

[pot_head]

Huh...

[He blushes a little. Him, a father? It sounds kind of wild. The women in the army deserve a better fella than him.]

W-well, uh, if this Morgan shows up again, I'll protect him too. Any kin of yours is royalty, after all.

[shepherd_prince]

I have a feeling the two of you would get along. If you wish, we can visit them in the hospital where their crystallized forms are being held until they awaken again.

[He may as well show Donnel what Morgan looks like at least.]

... Only if you'd be comfortable with that, Sir. I figure somethin' like that might be kinda painful for you. Wouldn't want you sufferin' cause of my curiosity.

No. Not painful.

[He shakes his head with a quiet smile.]

I do miss them. But at times it's helpful to remember who we're fighting to protect. You're welcome to accompany me at any time, Donnel.
