[Of course Saori would check on Ira before things went down. She pulled back the hood of her Assassin's robes and walked over to Ira and Lin. While she may have noticed that flash of white, she won't bring it up unless he was comfortable doing so.

Brigid accompanies her and flies over to Lin. The moogle pulls out one of Saori's handmade kupo nut cookies from her bag and offers it to the other.]

Ira.

[Lin accepted the cookie, smiling faintly with a nod and a "Thank you, kupo." Yet when his name was called, he didn't so much turn as he did slightly move toward the left, making a little more space beside him.]

Mother.

[Ira noticed that look when he turned his gaze in her direction, and stiffened only slightly--tension gone in a split second. No, he wasn't about to lie to his mother. He'd had to be strong for Lydia, but... At least with Saori, he could be honest, even if his tone was that of one who had seen too many come and go for the three years of his life that he'd grown uncomfortably numb to the heartache.]

...Naminé joined the others, last week.

[He didn't understand... They'd all faced their other selves. This shouldn't have happened, and yet... there they'd been, in the hospital. He didn't have the heart to add her things to the pile of boxes he'd had of Sora's things before they left, but he did bring the small snowman plush as a sort of good luck charm (hopefully it wouldn't melt).]

[It takes her a second to register what just happened.

Oh wait.

He just called her mother.]

Oh Ira...I'm so sorry.

[Except that joy bubble was popped after Ira told her the news. She closes the gap between them with an understanding look on her face to gently put her arms around him in case he wanted to break away. Seeing her son go through it again pained her.]

We'll do our best out there for Naminé, Ven, your friends and your family. It's what they would've wanted.

[Yes he did and he is determined to be happy, damn it. Or rather, as happy as a human-shape cage of emotions he can be. He doesn't break away nor his shoulders stiffen, but his right fist does tighten slightly.]

That means you too now, you know.

[He said it faintly with a smile, nodding slightly.]

I won't grieve them. Not yet. The heart tends to find their way back to their friends' hearts back home. Almost as if the bonds between them are guiding them home.

[This is probably the cheesiest thing he's ever said, but it hasn't been proven wrong yet.]

Of course, my dear. Hearts really do work in mysterious ways and I believe in that too.

There's actually something I wanted to give you before we fight out there though. I managed to get it blessed with my powers back home but it was just a matter of timing of when to give it to you.

[She pulls out from her robes a purple omamori charm. The Inari crest of a fox with a bushel of rice in its mouth was embroidered in white.]

It's now your family crest, Ira. Granted it's blessed powers might be weaker here, but it should provide you some luck out there.
