Where: Dreams.
When: Overnight from April 16th to April 17th.
Summary: The Heroes of Light have a shared dream— They find themselves in the body of a Hero of Light from two thousand years ago, both witnessing events and reenacting things that happened back then. But these Heroes of Light aren't just anybody; they are people from their homeworlds... And sometimes themselves. Please refer to the second OOC Post for details and plotting.

No manner of shield of blessed blade is able to deter the oncoming attack, the flames consuming Link in a plume of crimson and orange as his body is tempered to a painful scorching sensation. He cries aloud, standing in the very spot where the spell is cast, swinging his sword wildly to try and dismiss the flames that cover him.

Moments pass to see much of his equipment and clothing singed and charred, his skin turning a bright shade of red while other markings on his face turn an almost bluish black. He's weakened, but the fight has not yet left him, not when the fate of the planet is at stake.

He coughs, struggling to step forward as his shield and sword maintain no evidence of the spell. His eyes remain their perfect depth of blue, looking to the Librarian as his feet barely keep him standing.

"Is.. Is that the best your.. your magic can conjure?"

His chest feels heavier, as if every breath of air puts a pound or more onto his frame.

"Blair.. Listen.. to reason. You stand with villains.. You are better.. Better than this! This isn't a debate of roles.. We were brought here for a reason, and right now I stand not because of that designation or calling. I stand because it is what is right, and it is what the Goddess Hylia wishes of me. I beg you.. stand aside or it shall not just be I who is injured by their treachery!"

Link extends the sword above his head as the blade begins to glow brightly. A tint of sky blue surrounds the edges of the magical weapon, growing brighter and brighter as he lowers it and points it towards the Librarian. He holds it there, his hand shaking so that the blade becomes unbalanced in his grip. Thrusting the blade with a swing, he brings it over his shoulder before whipping it back around as he slices at the air, sending a beam of energy in the shape of his attack towards the woman who attacked him. The light imbued with the purity of Hylia, despite his condition, is sent towards her with trained and focused accuracy.

[She's been the cause of injuries before, and the last thing she needs now is to see another friend of her's fall to the deplorable acts of the reckless SOLDIER. Her eyes go wide as she watches the attack come at the selfless Martian, calling out his name before her eyes finally catch up with the movement of both men. Speed and agility were on Croach's long list of talents, thankfully, and to see him evade helped snap her back to the present. Ishtar's presence only adds to the urgency, the young woman darting to the side so that she might catch Sephiroth off guard.

Her feet move in haste, coming around the side as the silver-haired murderer is preoccupied with the target he's chosen. What little power she has in her fists might be enough to keep Sephiroth entertained, just enough that Ishtar and Croach might be able to bring him down so that no further blood need be shed.]

How do you do it?

[She comes up besides him, looking out into the dreary world as she puts a hand to the thin layer of glass which separates them from the rain outside.]

How do you remain so brave when you know that there isn't a chance of winning?

"But the plan would doom our worlds, too. Your students are still alive, but for how long until our plan dooms them?" Buccaneer practically roars that question as he slams his automail fist on the table.

"If they are fated to die either way, I'd rather give them a chance to fight for themselves. I don't care if it waits to recover, someone will figure something out even if it is at full power."

[She smiles fondly at the knight hearing the tension in his tone. She wants to be there for her hero and support him but there is little she can do without knowing the source of his plight.]

You can speak freely. It's better to speak now than leave things unsaid.

[I wonder how much he's like my hero?

Hylia tries to ignore the voice for now thinking instead of her hero.]

[Hylia smiles at the young girl.]

If you have nothing to lose then you should move forward.

[How does he even begin to unload the honesty he's been struggling to hold back? Well, the best place to start is at the beginning.]

What hope.. What hope do we have in winning this battle? Everything seems hopeless, my lady. The world is turning towards darkness, and there are very few of us who are able to stand against this impending doom.

What can be done aside from proceeding with futility?

[Hylia keeps her confidence and her smile through his question listening to his worries as he entrusts them to her.]

We have to. I have sought to create hope but it is what we make of it. I will be the light against the darkness and as long as I stand evil will not.

[Her clear gaze meets his.]

Do you believe in me?

[It is one of only a very few instances where he summons up the pride and courage needed to look at her beauty head on. His eyes meet hers, and despite what humility cries out to him internally, he doesn't look away.]

Of course I do!

[He feels so foolish. To have such doubts in front of the one constant that had led him along the proper course, it felt like such a crime to think the way he had been thinking.]

Forgive me, my lady. I.. The odds seem to be stacked against us, I cannot help but wonder.

[Cloud reeled at her words. He'd lost a lot over the years, but nothing on the scale of what she was talking about. He was used and cast aside, but that was more to negligence and unethical science.

Her tone made it sound like her world had a more aggressive and evil machine working against her. His life had been bad but he had found a way to rebuild. It didn't sound like she had that option.]

I'm...I'm sorry. I didn't know.

"Back home, our unit knows each other so well that we don't need to communicate to know how each move will play out, but this doesn't feel like that," he explains.

"I know the general and I know how she thinks, but these thoughts feel different and the same as the general."

He shifts uneasily, not quite sure how to explain what is going on in his head.

He shakes his head.

"Nothing out of the ordinary. I was just looking around trying to decide what I should be out doing when it started."

[Her smile stands in place and she reaches out towards her dear hero.]

It's alright to doubt. Just don't let it stop you from moving forward. You aren't alone. None of us are and even if we can not defeat it now it isn't the end.

As long as there is light, there will be darkness and as long as there is darkness there will be light.

[The touch of her hand resolves some of his woes, yet he still clings to the circumstances as if they are an unwanted crutch to keep him standing.]

Then.. What shall we do? What is our course of action? The rumors I've been hearing talk of the crystallization reaching us within a matter of days. Is there anything that we can do to drive it back, or cure this planet entirely?

Different people have different plans.

[Her tone is soft but firm dropping her hand to her side.]

We must follow Ganondorf. There is darkness in him and I believe he will only aid in the destruction of this world.

[It's been some time since he last heard the name of the Dark Thief. His eyebrows furrow towards the bridge of his nose as it begins to crumble with the turning of his face. There's much anger in Link towards the man who had been long rumored to be an agent of darkness, considering that he was from the same realm as both Hylia and himself.]

Ganondorf.. Do we know his current location?

[Hylia shakes her head slowly.]

I have not heard word of him recently, nor have I seen him. As ever we should be on our guard.

[Her crystal gaze flashes at Link and she wonders if she should tell the brave hero of her thoughts.

Why can't you?

Hylia is surprised as if she forgot that Zelda's voice is there with her. It is a complicated thing and not the sort of thing Hylia can express in words.]

[This previous iteration of Link is not as seemingly oblivious. He can tell that there is something else on the Goddess' mind, but he is unsure if it is even his place to pry into such things. Yet, curiosity was one of his biggest flaws.]

You are.. uneasy as well, my lady. Forgive me, I don't wish to speak out of place but, please. Confide in me if you need. I am not much but a servant, but the least I can do is hear what need be said if it helps to alleviate any worry you might be holding on to. You have shown me the selflessness of being a council to my grievances, the least I can do is return such kindness.

Indeed. Now more than ever we must believe in the paths we have taken and make sure that our doubts or those others may have don't interfere.

We can't afford to hesitate.

[Her smile softens slightly.]

There are times that I cannot follow the advice I give.

[Hylia is a goddess but when she awoke here she was human and without the powers that defined her. After having them returned she feels a better sense of self but those worries are still present pressing at her thoughts.]

As you say, I am the goddess of light. I must keep to my role, even here.

[Sephiroth is passing by the Water Crystal, its light waning more and more recently, when he spots Thancred kneeling before it. Being a fellow Hero well-versed in combat he makes it his business to keep an eye around for those who could well have an impact in his greater plan. Besides, Thancred had always proved cheerful company in the past.

Hardly-

Sephiroth keeps a respectful distance from Thancred as he finishes his prayer and waits til the other man is stood before speaking.]

It's light wanes the more that the Calamity grows. I do hope that you are ready, Thancred.

You wouldn't.

[She doesn't mean for her words to sound sharp. She walks pass Cloud, her foots steps silent as they lightly kiss the ground. The voice in her thoughts have gone quiet leaving her alone for the moment.

Terra pauses looking back at the hero.]

I hope you can find your way home.

[With that she turns away leaving Cloud alone in the hall. It is more than she cares to admit and she isn't interested in any questions her statements might provoke.]

Haytham frowned, his expression reading that he wasn't entirely sure of what she just said. Whether it was that she wasn't hearing anything or the explanation she gave was not really apparent. "I am unsure myself. But I know of artifacts that can affect the things that a person thinks or perceives. I dread to think that one might be used on us, especially at this juncture."

He sighed and adjusted his cuffs, "I do not wish to raise an alarm over conjecture. I merely wish to be sure we aren't compromised before we even begin. The last thing we need is more preventable deaths on our consciences."

{You're planning to cause deaths yourself you shortsighted fool! You've gone mad with your own desire to control what is going on around you!}

"The POINT," he added, with the emphasis of a man arguing with someone else, "The point is that I want to make sure we can truly trust everyone here to do their part. I fear if we do not succeed our home worlds will be in grave danger."

[Terra shakes her head looking away from the young knight. It is sweet of him to offer but she might not be able to control herself. The magic in the air is humming and scrapping against her nerves. There is no saying what might happen.

Isn't he strong too?]

You have your own mission.

[Her in-human eyes met his and then the words slip from her lips before she can stop them.]

I'll meet you back here.

My own thoughts.

[A rather uncomfortable pause as the Scorpion just kind of... stands there, looking at Esteban. With the mask over most of his face, it's hard to tell what's on his mind. But his eyes don't move from the demon.]
