How to catch a monster.

Characters: Au!Yuna and Fai and anyone who wants to stumble across them.
Where/When: Outside Aqures Ixen, Back dated: 20th April
Summary: Yuna is helping Fai get used to monster hunting.
Warnings: Fighting if that counts

Yuna tapped her shoe against the ground waiting for Fai to catch up. She was moving quickly hoping to find something that they could catch.

“Hey! Over here!” She wasn’t being quiet but she didn’t feel the need to be. She was going to at least show him the gist of it though she was sure that he could figure it out on his own. They just needed to run into something. Bombs were common enough and Yuna knew she could catch one on her own if need be. It was a start and with red mage equipped she can focus on healing.

She turned away from him glancing at the horizon. They were bound to run into something sooner or later.

Fai moved to step in front of her, making sure that she wasn't going to get hurt again. His chocobo made sure to stay close as well as Fai had gone about getting another arrow, readying it before firing at the wings.

He watched as it went right through, causing the creature to wince in pain. hat seemed more than enough for him as he carefully pulled Yuna up, making sure she got onto Big Yellow before pulling out another arrow, ready to aim.

"I would suggest going now. Big Yellow you know what to do." He said holding his bow up, ready to aim once more.

"Fai, I'm fine." She was going to continue to protest even as the monster crashed against the ground. It's tail flicked wildly feeling the tear of it's wing from the sharp Arrow.

She let him pull her up but was surprised when he directed her towards the chocobo. She didn't think they would need to run. "Fai! I'm not leaving you." Unless he was planning to come with her she was staying and no chocobo had the power to pull her away from the fight.

Fai had prepared another arrow slowly taking a few steps back and watching it a bit more. He was a bit weary on if it will try and attack again. He was preparing for such things.

"Yuna-chan, I'll be right behind you. Now just go." His voice was raised slightly, he wasn't going to let her get hurt again. He didn't want people he cared for get hurt again. They always did for him and in front of him. He wanted to prevent that.

The dragons head veered back getting ready to breathe another breath of intense flame. Yuna's eyes widened and she felt the chocobo lurch beneath her as Big Yellow jumped forward at a run. She tried to slip off, to stay and help Fai but the large chocobo lifted it's wings keeping Yuna protected.

She brought her staff to her chest and began to cast. Ice rained down from the sky and the creature was slowly frozen in place. It wouldn't last but Yuna hoped that Fai would keep his word and get away.

Big Yellow back away wings up and making sure the other doesn't have a chance to get off while Fai used the chance to fire a shot before rushing to quickly grab the reins, jumping on, making sure that Yuna was still sitting in front of the chocobo while he took the back.

"Alright, lets get going!" He yelled as he pulled the reins, turning big yellow around as the giant bird started to run off, leaving the powerful creature behind in it's tracks.

Once he was sure they had gone far enough, fai let out a small sigh. "That was close. Kuro-tan would be ashamed that we didn't beat it, but I'd rather not die trying." He said the last part to himself, giving a small chuckle.

"Are you okay, Yuna-chan?"

She felt the pressure of his chest against her side as he jumped on big yellow pushing her closer to the chocobo's neck. She was seated a little awkwardly with both her legs thrown over one side of the bird and her shoulder pressing against the center of Fai's torso.

"Yeah. Sorry about that." Yuna wasn't used to fleeing and while she was glad they got away there was a painful reminder of the battle stinging over her skin. It had been a close call.

"Are you okay?"

Fai was just more than a little relieved when Big Yellow stopped at a safe point. It wasn't following so he knew he could get off for the moment since there was something else he needed to do first.

"I'll be fine in about a minute." He recalled his shoulder had hit the ground hard at one point. It was still sore at the moment as he rubbed the left one with his free hand. One he had put his hand in the right spot he jerked it, snapping what he assumed was the dislocated shoulder back into place.

"There we go. Much better. I think we've had enough adventure for today, don't you think?"

Yuna just watched him wincing as his shoulder snapped back into place. "Yeah."

Her voice was soft and she tried to move but the burns sent waves of pain through her as if someone was rubbing a cheese grater against her skin. She looked at the bright pink patches of her sensitive flesh that were beginning to heal from the fiend's fire. The cure spell had helped and she could tell it was healing faster but it would most likely still be sore for a few days after.

Yuna's mismatched gaze shifted to Fai and she felt a little embarrassed. "Is it okay if I stay on big yellow?" She lightly patted his neck hoping he didn't have any objections.

"It's fine, I'll walk next to you." He said going to take the reins, giving the chocobo a light pat on the head "Whose a good girl~ You are." He voice was a bit cheerer than he had been a few minutes ago. "Though Yuna-chan is a good girl too." He said teasingly.

He knew it might take a bit longer to get back, but he also knew that they could at least talk as they go.

Yuna shifted bringing her palms on the back of the big yellow bird so that she could swing her right leg over and straddle him. The burnt skin on her arms was starting to itch and it took all her will power not to begin scratching it.

She was surprised to hear Fai so cheer after that fight but the supposed it was part of his charms. His last comment made her pause and look down at him, her cheeks flushing a light pink hue.

"Fai!" Yuna pressed a palm to her cheek trying to will the flush away.

Fai gave a small chuckle, he was expecting a reaction and he was right in what kind of reaction he would get.

"Yuna-chan is beat red~" It meant he could come up with things later and get another reaction out of this. His hands were still on the reins as he walked. So far no more monsters were deciding to go after them. That was a relief. He knew it would still be a good five minutes or so before he was sure they would be safe.

"Do you need a potion or something? If you do there should be some in the saddle bag."

Yuna had to rub her face to make the red tint finally fade. His tone changing from teasing to concern caught her off guard. She looked down at Fai from a top Big Yellow and then at her arms.

"It might help. I think it just needs to heal." Yuna gently ran her hands over her arms casting cure to help the burn.

He watched her slightly knowing that she would be fine right now. So long as she stayed on the chocobo it would be alright.

As they kept walking he was sure that he could see the city, or at least starting to. "Nearly there at least, then I'll take you home. Okay?"

Yuna leaned forward resting her torso on the chocobo's neck. "You're always taking me home. Can't I take you home?"

She smiled her tone only sounding slightly annoyed at the fact that she never gets to walk Fai home. She might have once? She didn't remember though.

"Isn't it a gentlmanly thing to walk a woman to her house? That's why I do it as a good friend. I never really thought about it the other way around before." Then again he never really walked home with those who weren't those he travelled with, so never thought to let his friends walk with him back home.

"Besides, you are the one injured so really I'll have to bridle carry you home or something." He was back to the teasing again.

Yuna's face turned red again with her lips still set in a pout. "Mmm, what is it today? You won't stop picking on me." Even as she spoke her lisp curled into a smile.

"Besides, I didn't think you'd be strong enough to life me." She was trying her best to tease back but she was sure that it wouldn't have the same effect. It sounded better in her head.

Fai's smiling face just wouldn't go away for now. He was happy in the teasing and knew he was going to keep it up. He could see the smile and it helped. "You should consider the picking on as a compliment Yuna-sweetie. I only tease those I'm close to. Unless you count children then that's a different story."

He couldn't help but act up a little bit, putting on a small pout. "I'm much stronger than I look you know, I feel insulted you considered me weak."

Yuna felt as if she might die of embarrassment. She was so glad it was just the two of them and the chocobo as they made their way back into the city. She was also glad to know that Fai considered her a good friend and that thought alone kept her smile in place even as she tried to force it away.

"I don't think you're weak. After all you saved me from the Wyvern." She looked down at him her cheeks still flushed a bright rosy red.

She wanted to thank him for saying that they were close but it sounded awkward in her head and it would probably sound worse out loud. Thank you for teasing me? It was too weird and so she just kept it to herself.

"But you don't have to carry me either."

He knew they were getting closer to town he could still tell that well she was still quite red. "You seem to be going red, it's adorable. But it makes me wonder why?"

He kept a hold of the reins as he made sure they were heading towards Big Yellows home the ranch first before anything. "We are nearly there, which means we should be safe now at least."

Yuna's palms pressed against her cheeks and after awhile the soft red glow slowly faded.

"What do you mean why?"

She was embarrassed and not used to being teased when it came to certain things. There were things that she just didn't think about and being caught off guard when one was brought up made her turn red. Of course turning red usually made her embarrassment worse. It was a strange cycle.

"You don't want to answer, then you don't have to." He said with a small smile as they finally reached the chocobo ranch, Big Yellow chirped happily. She was home and she knew it seeing the other chocobos.

Fai soon let go of the reins and held his arms up slightly "Do you need help getting down though?"

"I got it. Thank you though." Yuna swung her leg over and the slid down big yellow until her toes lightly touched the ground. She stumbled once getting her foots and then was fine.

She looked up at Fai with a smile. "I don't mind answering. I guess I just don't understand the question." At least she wasn't sure what he was asking and she was a little afraid to answer a question that he hadn't asked.

He put his arms down, going to unsaddle Big Yellow giving her a quick pet before taking her to the others and let her go to with.

"See you tomorrow Yellow-chan~" He said before turning to head toward Yuna, making his way over. "Lets get walking. What I mean is people go red for various reasons. I was wondering what your reason was? Was it because you were embarrassed because of the nicknames? If so then my job is done."

"AH," Head's head tilted to the side and she light scratched her cheek. She knew a lot of reason people got embarrassed but she was seen as a public figure back home. There was always someone watching the things that she did and embarrassment wasn't common.

Yuna turned back towards the city falling in step besides Fai. "I guess, you just caught me off guard." She knew that Fai could be playful but she was still learning about him. She didn't know everything and she assumed there would be times that Fai surprised her. It wasn't bad and she thought the nickname was cute. Only Rikku had ever given her a nickname.

He moved and put his hands behind his back as he walked quietly. Although it wasn't for a long period. "Well that just means I'm doing my job right." He let out a small chuckle, but he knew that wasn't all he thinks really.

"It's not something you are use to." he paused with each step he made, trying to think of what to do next, or even say. "I would have thought by now you would realize what I'm like."
