Moving On
Characters: Link and Zelda
Where: Zelda's House
When: Backdated to just before things began with the Shopkeeper's Daughter
Summary: Considering that they'd lived in rooms side-by-side for years in the academy, it makes sense for the two of them to share a house.. right?
Warnings: The sort of fluff that makes marshmallows look like mud. Might need an insulin shot after this.
Link had been spending a great deal of his time with Zelda since arriving in this strange new world. Finally having the time to sit and discuss with her, many of their days had been spent reminiscing over their home, how she'd fallen from the sky and met Impa, as well as all the fantastical things that Link had experienced and encountered. Stories of monsters and fights with steel and shield made for good conversation over lunch and dinner, yet it wasn't the stories that kept Link coming back to her.
They'd been sitting with one another like any other day, laughing back and forth while catching themselves staring at one another. It was something that Link had been deliberating for a few days, wondering it it would be too forward an idea. Given how long they've known one another, and the circumstances of their lives in Hyrule, it would be best for them to remain as close as possible.

Giving the back of his neck a scratch, the sort of anxious tick he was known for doing in moments such as these, Link spoke with a bit of a rattle to his voice. It's a bit unsteady, the sort of nervousness that came from proposing such a grand idea.
"So.. I've been thinking about something. Er-.. Well, more like a "when thing" than a "some thing".
no subject
She brushed a strand of lose hair out of her face and placed it behind her ear. Her eyes watched her childhood friend curiously. They had been talking about so many things and now he seemed nervous. She could usually tell what Link was thinking but this time she was unsure.
"What is it?"
no subject
He swallows the lump in his throat, his hands clenching atop his kneecaps before he finally summons the courage he'd been lacking.
"Don't you think it's silly living this way? I mean, in different housing. Wouldn't it be easier, or even safer, if the two of us-.. you know, shared a house?"
no subject
Zelda's eyes scanned the room. "Who's house?" She hasn't been inside of Link's house yet and wasn't sure what condition it was in.
no subject
"I don't really have a preference. I don't have a room mate, but I also don't mind packing what few things I have and bringing them here. As long as I'm not imposing or anything."
no subject
Zelda reached out and placed one of her hands on his. "I'd love to have you here."
no subject
"Are you sure? I mean.. Knowing that I sleep in late and that I'm not as clean as you?"
no subject
She will try and keep up the house work but she might bug him if he starts getting too lazy. She wasn't sure how many people they would put in each house but there was plenty of room for the two of them.
no subject
"I guess I should get my things together then. Are you sure you're all right with me doing this? I'll try not to be too in the way or anything. In case, you know, you might want to have friends over or someone you like.."
no subject
She hadn't really thought about having people over or anyone she might like. All she knew is that she wanted Link to be close. "It might be hard living with me because of the same reasons. Are you sure you want too? I mean, I want you too but..." Her eyes looked down a moment, she was usually more eloquent but his comment had caught her off guard.
no subject
"Why wouldn't I want to be with you?" He hiccups on his words, fumbling his fingers as he tries to redact his statement. "I.. I-I mean-! Why wouldn't I want to move in with you? It makes sense. We're good friends, we're from the same place, and.. and it's my duty to make sure you're safe."
no subject
She realized his duty was to protect her, he was a knight after all.
Zelda gave him a nod and smiled. "Of course. Do you need help getting your things?"
no subject
"I should be fine! Not much to bring over, really. I can find myself a cart and have everything moved over in an afternoon. There's already a spare bedroom here, isn't there? I just need to grab some clothing and some things for Lami and moving in should be a breeze."
no subject
no subject
And the laziness begins.
no subject
"Here. This is your home too." She tossed the key at him with a smile. Zelda didn't ever lock the house when she was home but it felt like giving him the key made things official.
no subject
"I'll make sure to not lose it. Thanks.."
Though he carries his composure as he walks to the door, the minute he's outside and the entrance is shut behind him, the young Skyloftian begins to jump with excitement as his face stretches into a grin from ear to ear.
