[A bit more digging, and Annie finds what she needs: a broken crowbar. She wedges it into a loose sideboard and pries open a small opening for herself.]

I'm sneaking in this way. Sika?

It is.

[she smiles in turn, eyes dropping for a moment as she remembers. She shakes herself out of it a moment later, eyes on Terra again, considering- does the other remember more about her family, now? With a moment's deliberation, though, she decides against asking, for now.]

I used to explore a lot, when I was younger- K'dhakya had to get me out of trouble every now and then, but she always did. She used to worry at me, but it was always fine! [with some close calls, but they managed.]

[Yuffie is quick and silent as she makes her way over towards the pair. She hasn’t really forgiven them for shooting her and it’s easy to put all misplaced anger on the enemy. A dagger flicks into her palm and she moves closer. She takes a slow breath and then slides the dagger between the third and fourth rib. It would take seconds for the man to bleed and die since her blade pierces right through his heart.

The second soldier spots Yuffie and swings at her to push her away from his partner.]

[Kopula points over to those fighting.]

Gather them together, kupo. We can’t let any get away.

[Least they return to attack others.]

[Terra nods, she likes listening to her stories though she doesn't have much to add. She's lucky that she had someone light that in her life.]

Elizabeth grins in a dangerous looking way, tucking her compendium under her arm she nods, "Yes. I believe we shall."

With that she starts down the hallway.

[Vincent is probably seeing a hybrid of all of those things. Sephiroth had a determination rarely seen in anyone who worked for the ShinRa company and it was at least a small part of why he was so good at what he did. Vincent might not have been around, but arguably the worst thing about how Sephiroth had turned on the whole human population might be the fact that he'd been so idolized beforehand, and justifiably so. The stuff of legend - it's little wonder why the company would come to strike him off as 'killed in action'.

Yet he still can't quite get used to how Vincent addresses him as a superior. It felt strange in the meeting prior to the battle - it felt even more alien now. Though; protocol was to be upheld. As carefully as Vincent studied him, it was Sephiroth's turn to carefully look over the other man. Nanami is all but disregarded for that moment; a true sign that his ability to multitask must be lessened by a lethargy that's kept carefully under wraps.

But after a long moment Sephiroth still doesn't answer even after the two have introduced. Furthermore, he's lowered his gaze and looks pointedly in a direction that's not anywhere near Vincent and Nanami. Weighing up implications, possibilities. He has a slight feeling of disgust on his face, feeling weakness press on his mind where it's not needed right now.]

I understand your concerns. [A small nod, albeit not a very resolved one. But it did come with something of a gentler smile.]

I'll try to get a break soon.

[They were right, after all. Sephiroth needs to remember that his mind and body aren't anywhere near as capable given as a vital element to that sharpness is rendered null and void in Crystallis.

No matter how he wants to deny it; he's tiring and he knows it.]

[Vincent's posture and expression remained neutral and professional. One could easily see him in the blue suit and tie of the Department of Administrative Research. The manner was like a well-worn glove, easily slipped into. Crimson eyes met luminous green, and the same professionalism remained--except a small concern. Seen, as Vincent was aware of how much Sephiroth pushed himself. Had seen it in others.

He gave a small nod, when he mentioned he would take a break.]

I believe Ms. Nanami and myself, will hold you to that.

[It was in the same usual deadpan tone as Vincent usually employed. Voice low, neither warm nor cold. If Sephiroth hadn't been so tired, he might have caught the barest hint of amusement on the tail end of the comment.]

[The heavy sigh makes Sephiroth look briefly around, falling back into his role as the superior commander in this battle. He won't forget the promise he's made to Zelda, but now is certainly not the time to be taking a nap. Maybe later.

He blinks a few times and puts a little more distance between the two of them.]

An extra set of eyes from the air wouldn't go amiss. We don't have the technology to keep in touch with our airships so-

[A knot stops his words, thinking easily back to the explosion that just happened above the 12th District.]

-if you happen to see anything that might prove problematic; don't hesitate to send a runner from one of the bases if you can't come yourself.

[He shakes his head.]

You don't have anything to apologize for. It's more like...I don't know how you feel, but I know how the other me felt.

[He shifts and makes sure he has her well supported as they work around the real flames and step past the fake ones. He glances over at her with a concerned look in his eyes.]

Were you trying to put the fire out all by yourself?

Ah. No. I'm not an elf and I was able to use magic here. Where I come from we would need to have these gems of compressed Mako energy called Materia to use magic, but here I was just able to cast it as a Black Mage.

[Her enthusiasm is indeed making more and more sense to him.]

The magitek armor on the other hand, the riding armor...think of a giant suit of armor, one you ride on top of and control. And they can use attacks that are basically artificially amplified spells. The problem is we don't really have a way to get them for ourselves.

[He really wants one though.]

As for the gunblade I guess I wasn't really clear. This design is more like a shotgun and it's based on what I've seen from my world. The Imperial troopers here, their gunblades are a bit more like rifles I think.

[Mostly it's an issue of weapon scale and gun design, and he tries to explain it as best he can.

I hope she's a little more forthcoming with information about this. I've struck out completely trying to learn about crystals.

[Terra's eyes looks towards the ground as a deep sadness pulls at her features.]

I did. I couldn't... [Her voice catches in her throat.] ...do anything.

[Her memories hurt.]

[Zelda nods and then her expression softens.]

I will make sure to inform you. I'll see you again Sephiroth.

[She doesn't waist time. She bows slightly, showing respect to the commander and then she leaves. She doesn't want to insult him in front of those he's in charge of and she hopes that she's given him enough respect.

Her loftwing squawks when she notices Zelda's coming.]

Bonnie wanted to leap back into the fight, and she wanted all the allies she could take. But she was also a soft heart and not about to force Mimi into it if she was too scared to do so. Bonnie knew the limits of the moogles and while she was pushing herself and wanted others to do so too it had to be their choice.

Mary said that people need the freedom to choose. Being forced to fight for freedom isn't freedom.

"Okay. Listen. I want you to hide for a bit. I'll try to take out more of these things. When it's clear I want you to go and find any others who are still okay. If they want to fight tell them to find me. The rest, see if you can bring some others there and make sure they're safe. Can you do that?"

Beyond the Empire? Not that I know of.

[Someone must, and it's no one on their side]

Yeah, I'm being careful. And quick. I don't want to get hurt.

[Nanami had been running behind, and she just... stopped, seeing that one of them had just been stabbed.]

[She nearly dropped her weapons in shock, before immediately summoning a clone and darting in two different directions. She couldn't stay in too big of a crowd, or that... that thing would hone in on them.]

We certainly will!

[It was weird being all protective and things; normally Nanami was trying hard to protect herself so she couldn't care about too many others. But... well, if the army failed, so did everything else.]

"White Chalice?" Rock repeated. Thinking for a moment, he shook his head. "No, I don't think so..."

[He's not sure that friendship is the correct term or not for whatever way it is he's managed to connect with Terra so it's probably just as well Bartz doesn't draw attention in that direction.]

I'm counting on you.

[Almost as if he felt responsible for making sure she was OK, even though he knows it's her choice to stay behind against his well-placed advise. Sephiroth doesn't hang around to chat anymore though, and with a single nod he heads back inside.]

[Sika makes a nervous sound, glancing this way and that, before diving to cling onto K'pandolu's shoulder. She's worried, but she doesn't want to be left behind, either.]

I- I'll be right here on the lookout!

Alright. [Said dully as she shrugs and crawls on her belly. The mud is getting everywhere and she already feels disgusting, but if she's to become a cool explorer, she can't complain about getting dirty.

She squeezes into the hold and wiggles around, and with a faint pop, she's in.]

Mimi clutched her chest as she nodded to Bonnie's orders. Hide, yes, she can do that. She understood that she would be useless on the battlefield, throwing rocks and crying when those horrible robots got too close, but running and finding others? That didn't seem so scary.

"Y-yeah. I'll do that." She wiped the last of her tears. "But promise you'll be safe?" Oh, if those Moogles who were willing to fight came and saw their brave leader dead, what would they do?

Really?

[Alice raises an eyebrow.]

You know, this isn't the first time I've heard something like that. I'm starting to get a little suspicious...
