Summary: As promised, Kalki is before the Crystal of Fire. Every character has the possibility to speak to her (or try to kill her). [Kalki kept her back turned to Riku, but after a while she did turn her head her way.]

I wonder, why are you hesitating?

[Kalki smiled upon hearing Yuna's words and nodded.]

I always hold my promises. You, better than any other Hero, should know that.

Then maybe you can explain something to me.

[He waves an arm to point out the destruction around them.] How was any of this necessary?

Jack pouts again, looking at the manipulator. "Oh, you're after something far greater than just time travel? Please say yes, I'm going to be very disappointed if that's true?"

It's just a time travel device and a broken one, at that. Despite Kalki turning down his offer, he'll let the band play on, so to speak. One way or another, the music is fitting to this moment. "I'd'a handed it over if it could have prevented all this."

And so we meet again. Seems a lot like last time as well, though the territory has changed.

[Mary is already talking as she wanders up, her disguise not in place at the moment. There's no need to pose as James around Kalki. Around anyone here really but certainly no point with her.]

So do you plan to give us some explanation then? Or are ye gonna be as cryptic as the last time?

[While a good many have approached Kalki with a bit of antagonism or to stand up to her, Cloud comes a bit softer. He wears the strain of the recent battle on his face and makes no effort to hide it.

He's quiet for a moment, unsure whether to ask about Ultima or the crystals or their purpose in the world. And then there is the matter of the other timeline and his and Sephiroth's place in that world.]

Who is Garland...How is he involved in all of this.

[So many questions on his mind. Might as well skip to the one that's the most enigmatic.]

[Mary looks back and forth between the crystal and Kalki, her mouth agog as the panic begin to break out. Finally her eyes settle on Kalki and narrow in anger. Her wrist flicks as she ponders if she could kill this woman, whether or not it would do any good. She's certainly deserving of the Assassin's steel.]

You daft fool! You come here seeking parley and now it comes to this? Would it kill you to just explain yourself for once!

I will. In a mere second, everything will be clear.

[With that said, the Crystal's glow grows even brighter, to the point where its light is blinding.]

Now, Heroes of Light, let us hear your Melodies of Life.

[By this point, the light is so strong that the Heroes wouldn't even be able to see anything. And before long, all the Heroes of Light, no matter where they are in Crystallis, will black out before physically disappearing from where they were. Their Moogles remain, however.]

Unfortunately, you lack in patience.

[Kalki didn't reply immediately. She kept staring idly at the Crystal, but finally replied to his words.]

Garland is the guardian. An eternal existence created by the Ancients.

Certain circumstances have to be met for me to do what is needed. Death is one of them.

Which ones? That I want to protect this planet until I find a way home? That ain't any reason for you to do what you want with Mars!

[The pain in his gut returns, and he uses his healing staff as a cane to lean on.]

What is is that you want with Crystallis? Or my home?

[He's never even met her before and never introduced himself! How did she...?]

[Sparks arrives, battle weary and beaten, much like the magitek armor he's riding in. But he's not about to let that stop him from approaching Kalki.]

Are ya happy now? The city's destroyed, hundreds of good 'n innocent people're dead, and now you get to stare at the big pretty crystal. I assume yer gonna blow us off the map, just like with Cid's city?

I wouldn't say happy. Satisfied, if anything.

[She turned to him.]

Sparks, that would be purposeless. The Crystal of Fire is already charged. If I were you, I would worry for the Crystals of Water and Wind instead.

Maybe not. My instinct has often been to get the job done fast and on my own. Might have gotten myself an earlier grave if it wasn't for certain folk.

[Reaching into her clothes, she fishes out her crystal, one of the ones completely drained of color.]

But I've been waiting for answers and you're the best one to offer them. What exactly happened down there? And what did you do to the others who were in that place?

[He's what exactly? This was something new. Apart from what he was expecting.]

So he's not human? And how old is he? Kalki, did you meet that girl too? I think she was trying to warn us. To tell me something about him. Do you know what it might be?

I'll be sure to tell all the survivors that yer satisfied, and I'm sure that'll make 'em feel so much better. [His weapons are pointed at her, even though he knows it's useless. He can't help himself.]

There's a lotta things to be worried about on this planet, I reckon. And is ya think yer gonna take those other two as well, yer mistaken.

[Robin approaches cautiously, glancing at the other Heroes of Light. She glances around, before she comes up to the woman who simply appeared.]

Why? Was getting here worth the damage? The deaths? The rest?

Rose let the silence stretch for a few moments and kept looking at the crystal.

Finally letting the comfortable silence end, she spoke once more. "Do not discount your role, then. I have seen a single word, a single change in inflection, by a messenger change a supplication into a taunt, a request into a demand, or a proposal into a threat. such things can shatter or build empires."

Rose finally turned to look at the other woman's face and said, "Even if you discount that, something tells me you know the shape of what is being woven here."

[She wants to fight, to channel her anger and pain at the woman who was at it's source.]

What the hell is wrong with you?! Madness or not that doesn't give you the right!

[As twist as her methods are, Kalki has always been true to her words. She might been or manipulate the truth but she hasn't been wrong. At least not yet.]

I can't value things as you do, but that doesn't mean I can't understand.

[This sounds too familiar...an all too knowing knot of resonance tightens up low in Sephiroth's gut as her previous words to him now ring through to those shadowy corners of his conscious mind that he's put a lot of effort into pushing as far into said corners as possible.

It's impossible, given the strain from the battle, to keep the fact that he did connect with her, from his face entirely. But Sephiroth still makes the effort to.]

...but you don't know that. What's to stop it endlessly repeating; your new world won't be new for long.

[ Logen limps towards Tazendra and Kalki, his face twisted in the same murderous grin had bore during the great battle, still reeking of blood, fire, and death, the Sword of the Maker still in his hand. ]

Uh... haven't seen anyone move that fast since Adua. [ He lurches towards Kalki and Tazendra. Who's he going to try to kill? That's a good question, honestly... ]

[Tensing when the woman turns to her, Rikku tightens her grips on the hilts of her blade seeking their comfort. They remain neutrally poised towards the ground. The girl's brows knit downwards at the question.]

[Stronger heroes than her would surely try, getting herself killed would just make Yunie sad - and the Al Bhed did not place so little value in her own life as to throw it away.]

I don't know what you are after, or what you're trying to do. I'm not gonna pretend I think I can even come close to figuring it out, you're probably just nuts and very sick and unhappy - since those are the only type of people who hurt others like you do.
