Warnings: The Heroes and a party. What could possibly go wrong?

On November 5, another letter from Johnny would go out to everyone reminding them of the costume party, and invite all the newbies along as well. Costumes are a necessity for entrance, except for the newbies, since they've only been here a little over 24 hours now.

The Observatory is in its usual party set up, but this time with an added stage area for any musicians who would like to perform. It's also the spot set up for the costume contest later on. The whole place is covered in festive Night of the 13 Moogles decorations, and as always, there's plenty of food and drinks.

Scarecrow, actually! Rae said they're in a lot of scary stories, so I decided to try it. [He tugs the mask off his shoulder to pull it over his head, hat and all, muffling his voice some.] They come alive at night and chase people. Something like that.

[It sounds like a plot from one of her horror books. And sure enough, that mask confirms it. Scarecrows are not to be messed with.]

The design is excellent. Did you buy this or make it yourself?

[Ven personally finds the idea a bit silly, but he's sure it would be pretty scary in the context of the stories Rae described.

He pulls off the mask again, briefly shaking his head to get his flattened spikes to stand up straight.]

I made it! It was pretty easy. [Just buying some inexpensive clothes and slashing them up a bit, and the mask wasn't too tricky.] I couldn't find any pictures of actually scary-looking ones, though, so I had to improvise.

[He made it...? He's suddenly got Rukia looking him up and down in contemplation as she attempts to measure his skills of craftsmanship.]

Do you sew clothes often...?

[Her eyes are starting to sparkle. There's a single, special request she's been dying to make, that far outpaces her own skills. And if he knows how to sew, then maybe he might be The One.]

[Oblivious to that look, Ven considers briefly.]

When I can, yeah. I knew a little before I came here, and I got a lot of practice in when time kept repeating itself. That was when I made Rae's bag.

[The moogle's been happily sporting said bag ever since, so it's probably been hard to miss.]

I've been working on sewing and cross-stitching, mostly.

[The books he went through indicated many more fancy techniques in both categories and beyond, but he's been taking his time and just working on the basics of both. He keeps himself busy enough with other hobbies, anyway.]

[Desperately, Rukia clasps one of Ventus's hands between both paws, beseechingly looking up at him with dancing, wide eyes.]

Then I beg you for your help! The one known as Ravio. Are you acquainted with him? He wears a purple hood with rabbit ears.

I must have one.

I... think I've seen him, yeah. [He hasn't spoken to him, though, and didn't know his name until now.] But, uh -- you don't have to pay anything. I'd be glad to give it a try. [More practice for him, and 'ey, he loves doing things for friends!

...just stop staring at him like that, it's a little daunting.]

What about the cost for materials, and labor? I know it will take time, and as Heroes we do have more pressing matters to look into...

[And yet... AND YET...! She can't help herself. Rukia isn't a materialistic person by nature, she lives very humbly. But when it comes to rabbits, she really can't help herself.]

This would be the greatest gift I could ever hope for. You have my sincerest gratitude.

The supplies shouldn't cost much, and I'd benefit from the practice, anyway. [That puzzled look is quickly replaced with his usual smile.] Don't worry! If it means that much to you, I'm happy to try.

[Totally not questioning or calling you out on this odd fixation, either.]

[She looks like she's about to cry, she's so happy. She bows deeply.]

[As long as it's rabbit-themed, that's all she needs.]

Ven laughs, but it's a kind sound.]

No problem! I'll get started on it soon. I'll check with you as I go, too. [Just to make sure it's what she wants!]

[IT MEANS EVERYTHING. But she's so glad he's not making fun of her for this, because Ichigo absolutely would have done just that. She lets go of his hands, filled with immense joy. Rukia owes him big time for this.]

[Ven doesn't keep score on favors between friends, but if he did, he'd point out that it's the least he can do after the way she's helped him out -- more than once, even.]
